The gaming landscape has undergone significant evolution over the years, with technological advancements consistently transforming how players engage with virtual environments. One pivotal aspect of this evolution lies in the interface between the player and the game - the controller. Traditional controllers, while effective, often present challenges such as high costs and limited life cycles. The proposed device is characterized by its low-cost, accuracy, and customization as it can adhere to the user motion. Shooting games, characterized by dynamic and fast-paced interactions, require precise and responsive control mechanisms for an immersive player experience. Therefore, this paper presents a comprehensive exploration of implementing sensor-based controls in shooting games. The selected sensors, coupled with the Arduino-based microcontroller integration, form the backbone of a system designed for accuracy, responsiveness, and adaptability. By providing players with a tangible connection to the virtual realm, the system aims to redefine the boundaries of player interaction, elevating the game beyond a mere gaming experience to a visceral and captivating journey where the line between player and character becomes delightfully blurred. The challenge lies in seamlessly translating physical gestures into in-game actions, redefining the player's relationship with the digital battlefield. Following a successful implementation, the system was subjected to extensive testing by a group of 20 users, with a total testing time exceeding 15 hours. This thorough evaluation yielded overwhelmingly positive feedback, affirming the system's functionality, reliability, and performance.

The Einstein Telescope is an advanced gravitational-wave observatory, currently in study and feasibility phase, that will open a new window on the Universe. Its infrastructure will be installed 300 meters below the surface to reduce human-, wind- and ground-induced vibrations and movements. The Centre Spatial de Liège and the University of Liège (Uliège) are involved in a consortium currently developing fully innovative and advanced concepts for optics, cryogenics and seismic vibration isolation, that are the key technical elements for the Einstein Telescope that could be built in the Belgian-Dutch-German border region as of 2025. One part of the so-called E-TEST project is devoted to the design and manufacturing of a unique prototype to be integrated into the existing CSL Focal 6.5 (6.5m diameter) TVAC chamber, laid on its optical system and connected to the Helium cryogenic circuitry for reaching temperature around 25K. The E-TEST prototype will be mainly composed of a large mirror of 400mm diameter at cryogenic temperature (between 25 and 40 Kelvin) - to validate the future telescope's technology. Suspended with an inverted pendulum and the whole set-up supported by an active isolation platform in order to reach very high vibration isolation level up to two orders of magnitude at frequencies as low as 10 mHz. An overview of the design of this large suspended silicon mirror is presented. The complete description of the vibration isolation, based on inverted pendulum and active control will be detailed. A new concept of radiative cooling system, with no contact, will be described with optimization of the transient cooling time. © 2022 31st Space Simulation conference 2022. All rights reserved.

As the information society advances, there is a necessity for the development of communication technologies surpassing 100 Gbps to transmit rich content such as ultrahigh-definition images and large-volume sensing data to and from mobile devices over the wireless access network. To accomplish this speed, we are researching ultra-wideband wireless LAN systems utilizing the terahertz band. This system includes multipath wireless transmission technology and a wired backhaul system, which enables simultaneous transmission from multiple access points to a station. However, even if a high-speed wireless network environment is established, the transmission speed of the conventional backhaul network can become a bottleneck. While we reported the development of a prototype backhaul system with a throughput of over 100 Gbps utilizing RoCE technology, it has been found that significant overhead can occur in case of packet losses or errors in packet transmission order. In this paper, we report the development of an ultra-high-speed backhaul system that can control load distribution utilizing Data Plane Development Kit as a network application. It is confirmed by experiment that throughputs of exceeding 100 Gbps can be achieved in communication via multipath routes.

The study aimed to address the negative impact of drought and inflation on tomato growth and horticulturists by developing an Arduino-based automated irrigation and fertigation system with a graphical user interface (GUI). The objectives were: (1) to design and implement an irrigation and fertigation prototype and control. (2) to create a Graphical User interface (GUI) showing sensor readings. (3) to apply the fertilization baseline and test and compare the tomato plant height of the proposed with the traditional setup. (4) to measure the water and fertilizer savings of the proposed setup compared to the traditional setup. The system, controlled by Arduino Mega 2560 and connected to the internet via ESP8266 Wi-Fi, utilized solenoid valves to regulate water and fertilizer flow. The experiment compared a 4-square-foot proposed setup to a traditional one, with cherry tomatoes on loam soil. It was concluded that the researchers do not reject the null hypothesis because the estimated t-stat, -0.00072, is larger than -2.23 and less than 2.23. The p-value, which is 0.9994, is greater than 0.05. Thus, there is no difference between the proposed and traditional setup's tomato plant heights. Furthermore, the proposed setup and prototype saved 34553 mL and 119 mL of water and fertilizer and reduced water and fertilizer consumption by 61.3% and 53.3%. The prototype's electricity consumption cost for six weeks of 24-hour usage is 53 pesos.

The escalating challenge of waste management necessitates innovative solutions that integrate sustainability and technology. This paper presents a novel Sustainable Smart Trash Bin(SSTB) system designed to revolutionize waste segregation and collection. The SSTB system leverages advanced sensors, and Internet of Things(IoT) connectivity to autonomously classify and sort waste into appropriate classifications like biodegradable, plastic, and metal, glass, and mixed waste. The system tackles the major challenge of accurate waste identification by integrating sensors like MQ137, TGS2611, and many more to ensure proper disposal of solid waste The classified waste will automatically be put into the respective chamber of the waste bin by a shorting mechanism. This IoT-enabled smart waste bin promotes efficient waste sorting at the source, streamlining recycling processes and contributing to a more sustainable waste management strategy. The paper details the system architecture, technological components, and sustainability impacts, highlighting its potential to transform urban practices of waste management. This research underlines the critical role of smart technologies in fostering sustainable urban environments and provides a scalable blueprint for future implementations.

The IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Network (6LoWPAN) has been used in many areas. How to reduce the number of 6LoWPAN nodes in multi-sensor situation needs to be studied. This paper describes the design and implementation of a multi-interface data acquisition gateway based on 6LoWPAN. The gateway has 6 kinds of data acquisition interfaces, including RS485, CAN, LoRa, ZigBee, 4G and GPRS. Modbus is the protocol of these interfaces' application layer. The gateway is designed with a modular approach, which is easy to be extended or tailored for other applications. Since the acquisition task quantity of the gateway changes with the configuration, and has the characteristics of multi-task synchronization and realtime response, the software design of the gateway is based on the FreeRTOS real-time system to meet the above requirements. In the 6LoWPAN network, the acquisition gateway acts as a 6LoWPAN node. After configuring the gateway through serial port, the gateway first reads sensor data from the interface and then sends the data to the 6LoWPAN module. The test results show that the gateway can read the sensor data correctly according to the configuration requirements. The purpose of using the multi-interface and bus protocol is to reduce the number of 6LoWPAN nodes required in the multi-sensor situation, thus reducing the routing complexity of the 6LoWPAN network, system cost and power consumption. © 2021 IEEE.

Traditional soil nutrient monitoring methods are time-consuming and inefficient, relying on manual sampling and delayed laboratory testing, which hinders timely interventions and leads to resource wastage in agricultural practices. This paper presents an IoT-based soil nutrient monitoring and analysis system designed to address these inefficiencies by enabling real-time data collection and analysis. The proposed system utilizes a network of advanced soil sensors that measure key parameters such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (NPK), moisture, and pH levels. The data is wirelessly transmitted to a cloud platform for continuous processing and analysis, providing real-time insights into soil health. The innovation of this system lies in the integration of IoT sensors, cloud computing, and data analytics, which enables precise and timely decision-making for optimal soil management. Compared to recent soil monitoring systems that either lack real-time capabilities or require costly infrastructure, this IoT-based solution offers a more affordable, scalable, and efficient approach. By offering actionable insights, this system significantly improves crop management, reduces overuse of fertilizers, and enhances resource efficiency, ultimately leading to higher yields and more sustainable agricultural practices.

Environmental degradation, health hazards, and inefficiencies stem from outdated waste management methods unsuitable for modern urban environments. This paper proposes an intelligent waste management system incorporating IoT and advanced sensors for a fully automated solution. Ultrasonic sensors measure waste volume, soil moisture sensors distinguish wet from dry waste, and metal detectors identify metallic waste. Air quality is monitored using MQ-135 sensors to track pollution levels around bins. An automated conveyor belt system ensures precise segregation of recyclables at the source. A web-based interface facilitates real-time tracking of bin status and environmental conditions across various locations. The system employs a dynamic routing algorithm to optimize waste collection paths, reducing travel distances, fuel consumption, and carbon emissions. Initial tests indicate superior waste classification accuracy, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and enhanced resource utilization compared to conventional methods. This scalable, modular system is adaptable to both small communities and large cities. Future enhancements may integrate machine learning to predict waste volume, improving collection efficiency. By fostering automation and sustainability, the system contributes to waste overflow prevention and a reduced carbon footprint in waste collection processes.

The aim of the research was to develop a concept of a remote measurement system for air quality management using IoT for an apartment with a mechanical exhaust system. The constant monitoring system with the possibility of manual control by the occupants allows teaching the occupants how to chose optimal settings with the biggest impact on the air quality. Additionally, using cloud data analysis, the measurements can be compared with simulations performed before the building construction. This allows choosing the proper apartment depending on the foreseen occupancy schedule and the family size.

Description of novel generation of magnetocardiography device Magnetocardiograph CARDIOMOX MCG9 has been presented. Device is intended for measurements of magnetic fields induced by the human heart for medical diagnose of cardiology diseases. Hardware includes 9-channel SQUID-magnetometer, single-channel reference electrocardiograph, control and processing unit, and automatic electromechanical system for patient scanning. Device can perform examination of the patients within 15 minutes at unshielded clinical location. Novel design and advanced methods for device adjusting, testing and certification were proposed. © 2023 IEEE.
