This paper presents an effective recognition method based on perceptual organization of low level features detected in an image. The method uses a dynamic programming (DP) based formulation to represent various line groups such as convex, concave, and more complex patterns consisting of convex and concave shapes. The essential features of perceptual organization such as endpoint proximity, collinearity, parallelism, and connectivity of lines, are incorporated into the DP based formulation as energy terms. As endpoint proximity, we detect two line junctions from image lines. We then search for junction groups by using collinearity constraint between the junctions. A DP-based search algorithm is used to detect a junction chain similar to the model chain, based on a local comparison. The proposed system is able to find line groups from images with broken lines and strong background clutters. We demonstrate the feasibility of our DP-based matching method based on perceptual organization using real images.

We present an interactive two layer router integrated in an analog IC design environment used in an SDL (schematic driven layout) design flow. Special features are its customizability, the treatment of arbitrary polygons and an advanced handling of source/target polygons in order to avoid net internal design rule violations during connection phase. A global routing algorithm is used to split the route into separate parts each routable in a single layer. After via placement a specialized maze router performs the advanced single layer routes in 90 or 45 degree mode. The resulting route can be modified by interactive via movement and rerouting of obsolete partial routes.

In this paper a new method for blind source separation of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals is proposed. In contrast to most blind source separation algorithms, our method does not employ higher order statistics. It is shown that in case of EEG signals matched filters can successfully be applied to achieve an excellent signal separation. The proposed algorithm is verified on simulated as well as on real EEG data. Due to the strong prior on the sources introduced by the matched filters, at first glance the application of our algorithm appears to be restricted to EEG data. However, by using different matched filters our method is extendible to any kind of non-white signal. Since the computations are based on second order statistics and the matched filters can be arranged in a parallel structure our algorithm is extremely fast and therefore suitable for on-line applications.

A new baseband signalprocessing method for compensating frequency shift in differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) systems is introduced, This method consists of a signal processor for the initial acquisition of frequency shift and a simple adaptive equalizer for tracking, The former is based on the observation that the effect of frequency shift can be eliminated by using boundary values of the received baseband signal between symbol periods, The latter is a single tap equalizer employing the least mean-square (LMS) adaptation algorithm, Computer simulation results demonstrate that the proposed frequency shift compensation technique outperforms existing methods, and works well for a wide range of frequency shift.

This paper presents, Index Mapping, a technique to efficiently map a widely used class of digital signalprocessingalgorithms onto a space/time paradigm with immediate representation as the partitioning and scheduling map of a small, I/O efficient, hardware array. When applied to reconfigurable FPGA based hardware architectures with downstream Sea-of-Gates optimization methods, the resulting systems form a dynamic signalprocessing environment with the best mix of performance and flexibility for wireless applications. Impulsive transient signals have been difficult to characterize and classify using traditional signalprocessing methods. We show that time-frequency distributions can effectively characterize the transient response of an acoustical cavity. Class-dependent kernels developed from time-frequency distributions are used to successfully classify the impulsive transients.

This method is based on using the artificial neural networks for different models of motion. The two model is examined: affine flow and planar surface motion. In particular, we apply time-frequency techniques to a data set consisting of the kinetic energy in the three body problem We explain how the methods of time-frequency analysis shed light on these signals and also how the concept of multicomponent signals is applied to their decomposition.
