The advanced L band Phased Array Camera for Arecibo (ALPACA) will rely on RF-over-fiber signal transport and hybrid FPGA/GPU signal processing hardware for calibration, beamforming, and imaging. We report on signal transport system development, phase and gain stability requirements, and array signal processing algorithm development.

How would you fairly evaluate two multi-object tracking algorithms (i.e. trackers), each one employing a different object detector? Detectors keep improving, thus trackers can make less effort to estimate object states over time. Is it then fair to compare a new tracker employing a new detector with another tracker using an old detector? In this paper, we propose a novel performance measure, named Tracking Effort Measure (TEM), to evaluate trackers that use different detectors. TEM estimates the improvement that the tracker does with respect to its input data (i.e. detections) at frame level (intra-frame complexity) and sequence level (inter-frame complexity). We evaluate TEM over well-known datasets, four trackers and eight detection sets. Results show that, unlike conventional tracking evaluation measures, TEM can quantify the effort done by the tracker with a reduced correlation on the input detections. In modern microwave measurements the six-port reflectometers and receivers are used in telecommunications, radiolocation, medicine, Internet of things. The signal processing is based on the algorithms and models that using the redundant information and is aimed at accuracy improving and uncertainty reducing. The Kalman filter is proven to be helpful in signals with errors processing. There was proposed a finite state machine (FSM) with such states as prediction and update for Kalman filter algorithm and its simulation with the help of field programmable gate array (FPGA).

The combination of the array along with the elements of antenna and the algorithm that processes the dedicated signal is known as Smart Antenna. By using this technology, the base station transmits the signal of each user and receives only that in the individual user direction. The technology of Smart Antenna which attempts to inform the problem by using the advanced technology of signal processing is called as beam-forming. Through the beam-forming which is adapti ve, the narrower beam is formed by the base station and nulls towards the users and interfering users. The diverse types of the adaptive algorithms are used to inform the smart antenna weights. Various algorithms of adaptive beamforming used in the current study are Recursive Least squares (RLS), Lease Mean square (LMS) and sample Matrix Inversion (SMI) algorithms.

On-chip Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) devices have been widely used in optical communications and signal processing to increase data throughput. As the number of wavelength channels increases, the performance of WDM devices is susceptible to various types of errors from fabrication, design and environmental changes. To address this issue, we demonstrate an automated optimization control method based on the Gradient-Descent algorithm and examine the performance of applying this algorithm to a silicon photonic 16-channel WDM device utilizing 4-level cascaded tunable Mach-Zehnder interferometers. The extinction ratio and crosstalk of all 16 channels are successfully optimized with different initial temperatures in simulation. This procedure provides a general approach to automated control and optimize complex photonic systems.

Typical functional diagrams and operation algorithms of tracking system of tracking radar of antiaircraft missile armament with digital processing of error signal are considered. It's showed that independent of the measurable parameters of radio signal all tracking systems have a similar structure. The leading place of digital filter in the performance of defined target movement model by tracking system is based. The state matrix equations for target movement model used in tracking system of tracking radar of antiaircraft missile armament are obtained. The ways of further research for improvement of target tracking accuracy are defined. © 2020 IEEE.

advanced driver-assistance systems (ADASs) that provide machine support to avoid critical accidents are already in wide use in vehicles in today's market. SoCs for such systems have several requirements: 1) high computational performance to run several advanced algorithms at low latency;2) low power consumption to permit running under the extreme heat and power conditions of real-world vehicles;and 3) high reliability to reduce the risk of serious accidents caused by faults. This article presents a novel SoC for ADAS applications, which resolves these difficult challenges. To achieve high performance with low power consumption, the SoC adopts the heterogeneous architecture, with ten processors, four DSPs, and eight types of accelerators, including the DNN accelerator and the image signal processor (ISP). To achieve higher reliability, the SoC implements several safety mechanisms, including system partitioning to prevent fault propagation, diagnostic features to detect faults, and a dedicated controller to operate runtime built-in self-test (BIST) of the ISP's diagnostic features during the vertical blanking interval (VBLANK). The SoC is implemented in a 16-nm process, and its size is 94.52 mm(2). Peak performance of 20.5 TOPS and low power consumption of 9.78 W are achieved.

This paper introduces the architecture of a convolutional autoencoder (CAE) for the task of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction and waveform design, for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The proposed architecture integrates a PAPR reduction block and a nonlinear high power amplifier (HPA) model. We apply gradual loss learning for multi-objective optimization. We analyse the model's performance by examining the bit error rate (BER), the PAPR and the spectral response, and comparing them with common PAPR reduction algorithms.

A method to detect the PD signals in the ring net cabinet when it is powered on based the pulse current method and 5G cloud computing is proposed in this work. During the experiment, a live indicator is used and the operating condition of the ring network cabinet is considered. A better signal acquisition methods and signal processing algorithms are applied to realize 5G wireless transmission. Phase resolved pulse sequence (PRPS) and phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) can be intuitively displayed on the screen. Six insulation defects are selected and the effectiveness of the method is verified. This method is conducive to monitoring the PD signal of the ring network cabinet in the field.

The conventional high-resolution synthetic aperture radar(SAR) imagery based on Bayesian learning encounter the problems of static and inflexible of prior. In this paper, a novel Bayesian learning algorithm based on flexible prior (FP-Bayes) is proposed for high-resolution SAR imagery, in which a new flexible prior is introduced to represent the rich features of target scene. However, the model becomes complicated due to the intended prior, which is hard to be solved by the classic Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling algorithms. Therefore, the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC) is applied to this problem. Considering the potential function of the posterior distribution is likely to be non-differentiable, the proximal operator is introduced, and the proximal-HMC (P-HMC) is developed, which is capable of solving the sampling problem of this posterior. To this end, the high-resolution SAR images can be obtained. In the experimental part, the raw SAR data is utilized to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm. The phase transition diagram (PTD) is also adopted to analyze the imaging performance quantitatively. © 2021 IEEE.
