Recent technology advancements in imaging technology has led to the commercialization of the first color-polarization imaging sensor. This technological feat is enabling development of new imaging applications and algorithms, which were not possible without this technology. However, when we compare several attributes between state-of-the-art color and polarization imaging technology, several shortcomings are evident in the polarization technology. First, the pixel pitch of today's color technology is around 0.8 microns. The most advanced polarization imager utilized 3.5-micron pixel pitch - color imaging technology achieved this pixel pitch more than 10 years ago. However, today's color imaging technology is plagued with optical and electrical cross talk. Although signalprocessingalgorithms mitigate some of these effects, color technology is less stringent on the efficacy of these algorithms. Polarization imaging technology is fundamentally different from color and is more dependent on crosstalk. In this paper, we present theoretical data on how cross talk affects polarization accuracy.

The importance of soundfield imaging techniques is expected to further increase in the next few years thanks to the ever-increasing availability of low-cost sensors such as MEMS microphones. When it comes to processing a relevant number of sensor signals, however, the computational load of space-time processingalgorithms easily grows to unmanageable levels. The Ray Space Transform (RST) was recently introduced as a promising tool for soundfield analysis. Given the collection of signals captured by a uniform linear array of microphones, the RST allows us to collect and map the directional components of the acoustic field onto a domain called "ray space", where relevant acoustic objects are represented as linear patterns for advanced acoustic analysis and synthesis applications. So far the computational complexity of the RST linearly increases with the number of microphones. In order to alleviate this problem, in this paper we propose an alternative efficient implementation of the RST based on the Non Uniform Fast Fourier Transform.

Accurate and reliable determination of foodborne pathogens (FBPs) is necessary for food safety. Spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy are among the label-free and sensitive methods for diagnosing FBPs. Although Raman spectroscopy equipped with confocal microscopy is developed for multiplex detection of FBPs, machine learning methods optimized by advanced optimization algorithms can be useful for the efficient determination of FBPs in food. In this study, genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) were used to optimize the architecture of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to predict the type of FBPs based on their Raman data. Raman spectra of single cells of 12 common strains from five genera were obtained to create a dataset. The results showed that the average accuracy of GA-ANN and PSO-ANN hybrid models was 0.89 and 0.93, respectively. Moreover, ATCC 14028 and ATCC 19112, the strains of Shigella and Listeria bacteria, were predicted with the highest performance (0.96) based on the Raman spectra of their corresponding cells. The method presented in this study included Raman spectroscopy combined with neuron-based machine learning methods for the FBP efficient diagnosis.

In this paper we propose a novel defense approach against end-to-end adversarial attacks developed to fool advanced speech-to-text systems such as DeepSpeech and Lingvo. Unlike conventional defense approaches, the proposed approach does not directly employ low-level transformations such as autoencoding a given input signal aiming at removing potential adversarial perturbation. Instead of that, we find an optimal input vector for a class conditional generative adversarial network through minimizing the relative chordal distance adjustment between a given test input and the generator network. Then, we reconstruct the 1D signal from the synthesized spectrogram and the original phase information derived from the given input signal. Hence, this reconstruction does not add any extra noise to the signal and according to our experimental results, our defense-GAN considerably outperforms conventional defense algorithms both in terms of word error rate and sentence level recognition accuracy.

Manhours estimation and automatic approval plays an important role in project scheduling and reducing the development cost for factory. Traditional approaches usually have some limitations, such as technical text formatting limitations and industry-specific limitations. This paper presents a software system that estimates the manhours and approves the technology texts that have been submitted. Firstly, we collect a technology texts dataset and complement the dictionaries. Secondly, the word2vec is used to extract the features implicated in the technology text, and a DNN (deep neural network) model is proposed to estimate the manhours. Finally, an Odoo-based software system is developed, which provides the estimation manhours and approves automatically of the submitted technology texts. The advantages of approach in which is proposed in this paper is that, it has less limitations on the format of submitted technology texts. And, it can be used for various production technology.

Hardware implementation for faster real-time signalprocessing in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar beamforming by estimating direction of arrival (DOA) using multiple signal classification (MUSIC) is attractive. The above subspace-based method works with a basic principle of eigenvalue decomposition and is found suitable for application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), field-programmable gate array (FPGA). In that regard, the cyclic Jacobi method is used for computing eigenvalues and eigenvectors, by orthonormal plane rotations in accomplishing eigenvalue decomposition. However, the fasterness and foremost, the accuracy of the DOA estimator realized in such above hardware depends on the involved number of antenna elements in an array, the number of snapshots, and the signal-to-noise ratio. Therefore, the comparative study on DOA estimation error on the above mentioned parameters in MUSIC and QR-based algorithms is presented in this paper.

The network group detection has a large number of application researches and has achieved certain results in network security, IP entity location and load balancing. However, due to the large scale of the network topology graph and the large number of terminal nodes, most of the existing overlapping group detection algorithms are relatively complex, and the data size that can be processed is limited, and cannot be directly applied to the network topology. This paper proposes a network topology overlapping group detection algorithm based on h-core pruning. This algorithm decomposes the network into smaller strong connected components, reduces the interference of noisy nodes to overlapping group discovery, and more efficiently detect the largest k-plex group on the target network. A large number of experiments show that the method in this paper is effective. Compared with the full-enum algorithm, our method increases the network size that can be handled by the largest k-plex group by two orders of magnitude, and can detect overlapping groups in the network topology more efficiently.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the collection of data from wireless devices, sensor nodes, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices has recently received significant attention. In this paper, we study the data collection process from a set of smart electric meters enabled by UAVs. Our objective is to minimize the total annual cost of the electric utility by jointly optimizing the number of UAVs, their power source sizing (represented by the UAVs' batteries), the selected starting point of each UAV as well as the data collection trip planning. The problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, which is generally difficult to be optimally solved. In order to find a solution, the problem has been decoupled into two sub-problems where a candidate UAV and a number of buildings are first grouped into trips via genetic algorithms (GA), and then the optimum trip path is found using a travelling salesman problem (TSP) branch and bound algorithm in the second.
