Latest Fusion energy experiments envision a quasi-continuous operation regime. In consequence, the largest experimental devices, currently in development, specify high-availability (HA) requirements for the whole plant infrastructure. HA features enable the whole facility to perform seamlessly in the case of failure of any of its components, coping with the increasing duration of plasma discharges (steady-state) and assuring safety of equipment, people, environment and investment. IPFN developed a control and data acquisition system, aiming for fast control of advanced Fusion devices, which is thus required to provide such HA features. The system is based on in-house developed advanced Telecommunication Computing Architecture (ATCA) instrumentation modules - IO blades and data switch blades, establishing a PCIe network on the ATCA shelf's backplane. The data switch communicates to an external host computer through a PCIe data network. At the hardware management level, the system architecture takes advantage of ATCA native redundancy and "hot swap specifications to implement fail-over substitution of IO or data switch blades. A redundant host scheme is also supported by the ATCA/PCIe platform. At the software level, PCIe provides implementation of hot plug services, which translate the hardware changes to the corresponding software/operating system devices. The paper presents how the ATCA and PCIe based system can be setup to perform with the desired degree of HA, thus being suitable for advanced Fusion control and data acquisition systems. © 2015 IEEE.

telescope networks are gaining traction due to their promise of higher resource utilization than single telescopes and as enablers of novel astronomical observation modes. However, as telescope network sizes increase, the possibility of scheduling them completely or even semi-manually disappears. In an earlier paper, a step towards software telescope scheduling was made with the specification of the Reservation formalism, through the use of which astronomers can express their complex observation needs and preferences. In this paper we build on that work. We present a solution to the discretized version of the problem of scheduling a telescope network. We derive a solvable integer linear programming (ILP) model based on the Reservation formalism. We show computational results verifying its correctness, and confirm that our Gurobi-based implementation can address problems of realistic size. Finally, we extend the ILP model to also handle the novel observation requests that can be specified using the more advanced Compound Reservation formalism. Process control algorithms constitute a specific software model, as they have well-defined and constant sets of inputs and outputs, and perform calculations cyclically in real time. Therefore, the algorithms rarely are implemented otherwise than embedded in the low level control instrumentation. This paper proposes a departure from this well-known approach in order to apply multiagent system directly in the control layer. While this novel approach creates few issues requiring resolving, such as the need to develop an agent-based software operating in real time, it also provides the crucial benefit i.e. the possibility of developing the modules of the control algorithm by experts from different fields, which allows for cooperative dynamic engineering of a control algorithm. The resulting methodology allows to include more modern and advanced solutions from various fields of control science than it is possible in the case of the classical approach. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Industrial control systems (ICSs) are an important part of critical infrastructure in cyberspace. They are especially vulnerable to cyber-attacks because of their legacy hardware and software and the difficulty of changing it. We first survey the history of intrusions into ICSs, the more serious of which involved a continuing adversary presence on an ICS network. We discuss some common vulnerabilities and the categories of possible attacks, noting the frequent use of software written a long time ago. We propose a framework for designing ICS incident response under the constraints that no new software must be required and that interventions cannot impede the continuous processing that is the norm for such systems. We then discuss a prototype toolkit we built using the Windows Management instrumentation Command-Line tool for host-based analysis and the Bro intrusion-detection software for network-based analysis. Particularly useful techniques we used were learning the historical range of parameters of numeric quantities so as to recognize anomalies, learning the usual addresses of connections to a node, observing Internet addresses (usually rare), observing anomalous network protocols such as unencrypted data transfers, observing unusual scheduled tasks, and comparing key files through registry entries and hash values to find malicious modifications. We tested our methods on actual data from ICSs including publicly-available data, voluntarily-submitted data, and researcher-provided ''advanced persistent threat" data. We found instances of interesting behavior in our experiments. Intrusions were generally easy to see because of the repetitive nature of most processing on ICSs, but operators need to be motivated to look.

Mobile apps are prevalent in everyone's daily life. However, apps are oftentimes defective, undermining their convenience, and therefore automated testing and analysis of apps are developed to enhance apps' quality. As these advanced technologies become increasingly effective and complicated, prototyping such a tool also becomes a challenge. To facilitate easy development of high-quality testing and analysis tools that work with real-world apps, we in this paper present the design and implementation of ATT (Android Testing Toolkit), for crafting reusable and scalable testing and analysis on Android apps. ATT consists of integrated tools and APIs for event generation, profiling and program instrumentation, and can be distributed over cloud platforms for scalable testing and analysis. We qualitatively evaluated the applicability of ATT by demonstrating implementation of a series of existing and enhanced work (RERAN, Monkey+ and UGA) upon ATT, and quantitatively studied the scalability of parallelized UGA on a cloud platform with five real-world apps. We believe that our ATT tool would facilitate development of more advanced testing and analysis approaches for Android apps. © 2015 ACM.

As the technology is scaling downs day by day designing of radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC's) is introduces more challenges in the world of electronics. The challenges are such as area gain, size, and leakage current, electrostatic discharge (ESD), power consumptions & so many, raises the threat while designing the electronic circuitry. Among all these challenges we are focusing on the ESD-protection because of 70% of IC's are fails due to ESD happening. Reliability of IC's is one of the most important factor semiconductor industries. SD protection of RFIC is very challenging job due to lack of various ESD models & their proper communication with core circuit. Here a novel co-design methodology is suggested which is a simulation based process. In this technique a 130nm or 0.13 mu m CMOS technology is used & for ESD protection LVTSCR (Low Voltage Triggered Silicon controlled Rectifier) is incorporated. The extracted results are compared. Such as without ESD protection (core circuit) & with ESD protection circuit (Protection + Core Circuit). The RF-ESD design of 5GHz to 6GHz LNA is used to show the implementation of this novel technique. A novel co-designed ESD protected LNA circuit achieves good on chip performance, including 4-kV ESD protection, a gain of 16.770 dB, noise figure 3.025 dB, input matching -8.454 dB, and output matching is -12.233 dB in same LNA-ESD protected design.

We report the progress of the Canary High-Order Upgrade (CHOUGH) addition to the CANARY AO experiment at the 4.2m WHT telescope, ORM, La Palma. While CANARY has been developed to investigate several tomographic configurations relevant to the E-ELT, it also has the ability to host guest AO instruments and provide them with relevant infrastructure. CHOUGH is a self-contained AO bench that integrates into CANARY, via an external feed of light, to provide a Strehl ≥ 0.5 in the visible. Within CANARY, CHOUGH picks off light after a 240-actuator deformable mirror and delivers the on-axis beam into the internal relay which feeds various sub-systems. These are include pick-off optics, a ADC, and 1k-actuator DM, all of which are part of an internal relay to three instruments: a spatially-filtered SH WFS, a calibration interferometer, and a narrow-field imaging camera. As CHOUGH is constructed on a separate breadboard, the components are self-contained and can be integrated and operated separately from CANARY. In this paper the progress on the design, procurement, and performance of the CHOUGH sub-systems and the experiment as a whole is given. Attention is given to the algorithms that will be used and the control methods that will be utilized on-sky. The modular nature of the design leads to potential upgrade paths and a brief discussion is made of new directions of on-sky research that could be carried out with replacement sub-systems and new instrumentation.

A motor development package including a high speed DSP TI TMS320C6657[1] and an integral testing software has been developed to reduce the cost and time for evaluating motors. The software comes with a user-friendly GUI and a specialized coding library with common Power Electronics functions to ease the process of writing control algorithms. No additional instrumentation is also required in the package as necessary debug functions are available in the software. Seamless connection between the inverter and controller reduces the effort to construct external circuity. Safety features have been emphasized to ensure that the system is completely isolated in case of overcurrent surge.

With the rapid development of network and communication technology, digital image communication has become an important way of information transmission. Therefore, much more attention has been paid to the development of the digital image encryption technology. In this paper, we propose a digital image encryption technology based on AES algorithm, and the algorithm implementation in MATLAB. Then, we perform digital image processing, obtain the date that can use the AES encryption algorithm, combine both approaches. Then, the digital image can be encrypted, and the algorithm is realized in MATLAB simulation. Through the comparison of the histogram analysis and the analysis of the key, the result has showed that the method can better realize the effect of encryption and decryption.
