Headphones have become an unavoidable device in this advanced world due to its fast advancements like active noise cancellation, comfortable design and user friendliness. But many people are making the common mistake of increasing their headphone volume beyond medical permissive levels in an attempt to get better sound or to limit out external noise. It is important to note that overuse of headphones at loud volumes can cause permanent hearing loss. Prolonged use of headphone causes the same damage to ear like the noise from industries does. But many people are not aware of this fact and the number of people reporting hearing difficulties due to overuse of headphones is increasing day by day. So it is important to create awareness among headphone users and design a safety system to prevent hearing losses. The idea is to design a safety system in the form of a mobile application or software that will automatically indicate when the headphone usage begins to cause problems to ear. A LCD display or a buzzer sound can be used to warn the user. The concept can also be implemented as a hardware tool using micro controllers. This idea will help to prevent HEARING LOSS due to unaware usage of headphones which is the most common problem now.

A 2.5 degree field diameter corrector lens design for the Cassegrain focus of the VISTA 4 meter telescope is presented. It comprises four single elements of glasses with high UV transmission, all axi-symmetric for operation at the zenith. One element is displaced laterally to provide atmospheric dispersion correction. A key feature, especially beneficial for the VISTA application, is that the ADC element can be mounted so it is driven simply by gravity;thus its operation needs no motors, encoders, cabling, or software control. A simple mechanical design to achieve this and the optical performance details are described.

The James Webb Space telescope (JWST) Optical Simulation Testbed (JOST) is a tabletop workbench to study aspects of wavefront sensing and control for a segmented space telescope, including both commissioning and maintenance activities. JOST is complementary to existing optomechanical testbeds for JWST (e.g. the Ball Aerospace Testbed telescope, TBT) given its compact scale and flexibility, ease of use, and colocation at the JWST Science & Operations Center. We have developed an optical design that reproduces the physics of JWST's three-mirror anastigmat using three aspheric lenses;it provides similar image quality as JWST (80% Strehl ratio) over a field equivalent to a NIRCam module, but at HeNe wavelength. A segmented deformable mirror stands in for the segmented primary mirror and allows control of the 18 segments in piston, tip, and tilt, while the secondary can be controlled in tip, tilt and x, y, z position. This will be sufficient to model many commissioning activities, to investigate field dependence and multiple field point sensing & control, to evaluate alternate sensing algorithms, and develop contingency plans. Testbed data will also be usable for cross-checking of the WFS&C software Subsystem, and for staff training and development during JWST's five- to ten-year mission.

IO:I is a new instrument in development for the Liverpool telescope, extending current imaging capabilities beyond the optical and into the near infrared. Cost has been minimised by use of a previously decommissioned instrument's dewar as the base for a prototype, and retrofitting it with a 1.7 mu m cutoff Hawaii-2RG HgCdTe detector, SIDECAR ASIC controller and JADE2 interface card. Development of this prototype is nearing completion and will be operational mid 2014. In this paper, the mechanical, electronic and cryogenic facets of the dewar retrofitting process will be discussed together with a description of the instrument control system software/hardware setup. Finally, a brief overview of some initial testing undertaken on the engineering grade array will be given, along with future commissioning plans for the instrument.

The Gemini Planet Imager is an extreme AO instrument with an integral field spectrograph (IFS) operating in Y, J, H, and K bands. Both the Gemini telescope and the GPI instrument are very complex systems. Our goal is that the combined telescope and instrument system may be run by one observer operating the instrument, and one operator controlling the telescope and the acquisition of light to the instrument. This requires a smooth integration between the two systems and easily operated control interfaces. We discuss the definition of the software and hardware interfaces, their implementation and testing, and the integration of the instrument with the telescope environment.

We present ARDOLORES a custom made motor control system for the DOLORES instrument in use at the TNG telescope. ARDOLORES replaced the original PMAC based motor control system at a fraction of the cost. The whole system is composed by one master Arduino ONE with its Ethernet shield, to handle the communications with the external world through an Ethernet socket, and by one Arduino ONE with its custom motor shield for each axis to be controlled. The communication between the master and slaves Arduinos is made possible through the I2C bus. Also a Java web-service has been written to control the motors from an higher level and provides an external API for the scientific GUI. The system has been working since January 2012 handling the DOLORES motors and has demonstrated to be stable, reliable, and with easy maintenance in both the hardware and the software parts.

The Daniel K. Inouye Solar telescope (DKIST) Data Handling System (DHS) provides the technical framework and building blocks for developing on-summit instrument quality assurance and data reduction pipelines. The DKIST Visible Broadband Imager (VBI) is a first light instrument that alone will create two data streams with a bandwidth of 960 MB/s each. The high data rate and data volume of the VBI require near-real time processing capability for quality assurance and data reduction, and will be performed on-summit using Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) technology. The VBI data processing pipeline (DPP) is the first designed and developed using the DKIST DHS components, and therefore provides insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the framework. In this paper we lay out the design of the VBI DPP, examine how the underlying DKIST DHS components are utilized, and discuss how integration of the DHS framework with GPUs was accomplished. We present our results of the VBI DPP alpha release implementation of the calibration, frame selection reduction, and quality assurance display processing nodes.

It was researched that the aviation embedded airborne software testing, because of software quality and reliability *** order to improve the efficiency of testing of airborne software, for airborne software features, this paper propose a method that achieves the coverage test and basic ways search taking compiler GCC technology to complete the program automatic instrumentation. An Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector (ADC) uses a double-prism arrangement to nullify the vertical chromatic dispersion introduced by the atmosphere at non-zero zenith distances. The ADC installed in the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) was first tested in August 2012 while the instrument was in the laboratory. GPI was installed at the Gemini South telescope in August 2013 and first light occurred later that year on November 11th. In this paper, we give an overview of the characterizations and performance of this ADC unit obtained in the laboratory and on sky, as well as the structure of its control software.

WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) has attracted the attention of researchers due to its wide applicability to various fields such as disaster management, health and environment monitoring, agriculture, ecology, industrial automation and in military field applications like battlefield surveillance etc. In agricultural ecosystem -situ -continuous smart monitoring of soil parameters like humidity, pH, irrigation control systems etc. can be measured using WSN with high end precision. In this manuscript, we propose to develop a WSN based Dynamic and Automated Irrigation System design and instrumentation. This process maintains soil type and software for real time sensing and control of agricultural irrigation system. The efficiency of irrigation systems can be enhanced by automated remote sensing and continuous analysis of soil parameters. Thus the data acquired is useful to the agricultural sector, namely pest management, irrigation management and soil management. Ultimately, this reduces the fresh water consumption and irrigation costs by maximizing the crop yield.
