The Optical Development System Lab (ODSL) completed a cycle of prototype testing and engineering model integration models to successfully test out a closed loop optical design. Through this process many lessons have been learned that are being directly applied to flight integration and testing, helping drive down risk, cost, and schedule for the instrument. The ODSL was used to test and understand the functional performance of the transmitter to receiver alignment system concepts. advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) is the instrument being tested by the ODSL and is the main instrument on the ICESat-2 mission. It measures ice elevation by transmitting laser pulses, and collecting the reflection in a telescope. Because the round trip time is used to calculate distance, alignment between the outgoing transmitter beam and the incoming receiver beams are critical. An automated closed loop monitoring control system is currently being tested at the engineering model level to prove out implementation for the final spacecraft. To achieve an error of less than 2 micro-radians, an active deformable mirror was used to correct the lab wave front from the collimated "ground reflection" beam. The lab includes a focal plane assembly set up, a one meter diameter collimator optic, a 0.8 meter flight spare telescope for alignment, and the appropriate flight software to control the transmit beam path. By having a fully integrated system with prototypes and engineering units, lessons were learned before flight designs were finalized. The flight telescope is now ready to be accepted and put through tests that were refined with the ODS lab.

This paper describes progress since the completion of xTCA for Physics instrumentation standards in 2011. The standards are extensions of the Telecom standard called advanced Telecommunications Computer Architecture for the physics community. The main goals are to provide new IO, timing and synchronization features as well as standard software interface guidelines for accelerator control and instrumentation systems. After issuing the basic IO standards in 2012 for both ATCA and its smaller mezzanine card version known as MicroTCA, labs and industry have continued to collaborate to bring many lab-developed products to market for Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) availability. In the course of development some significant products were built using both lab and industry sources and tested on-beam for the LCLS-II accelerator project to prove precision of analog performance. These solutions were adopted for the LCLS-II injector and systems completed to readiness for installation in 2013. A change in direction of LCLS-II to a superconducting CW machine running at 1MHz bunch rate has raised additional challenges requiring some redesign. The ongoing Hardware and software working group tasks are summarized including a new backplane extension as well as a brief description of impacts of the new CW machine design.

This paper introduces a design principle for automatic cloth car wireless communication control system of mechanical equipment in metallurgy and mine. The system includes vehicle control system and a ground control system, installed on-board radar material level meter in cloth car bottom, photoelectric rotary encoder and the cloth wheel is coaxially connected, in cloth car body control device installed on vehicle PLC programmable controller, wireless communication transceiver and a UPS power supply, ground wireless communication transceiver with radio signals associated with the vehicle wireless communication transceiver, and the non transmission line communication transceiver radio signals transmitted to the ground through a line of PLC programmable controller. Programmable ground PLC the controller through lines respectively and bin level measurement of radar level gauge. Cloth car motor start and stop device is connected, to achieve online display and monitoring, to improve the level of automation in factory, away from the dangerous environment. The system is currently the most advanced control system for material level car, to fill the domestic blank. Remote job submission and execution is fundamental requirement of distributed computing done using Cluster computing. However, Cluster computing limits usage within a single organization. Grid computing environment can allow use of resources for remote job execution that are available in other organizations. This paper discusses concepts of batch-job execution using LRM and using Grid. The paper discusses two ways of preparing test Grid computing environment that we use for experimental testing of concepts. This paper presents experimental testing of remote job submission and execution mechanisms through LRM specific way and Grid computing ways. Moreover, the paper also discusses various problems faced while working with Grid computing environment and discusses their trouble-shootings. The understanding and experimental testing presented in this paper would become very useful to researchers who are new to the field of job management in Grid.

In the framework of the ITER control Breakdown Structure (CBS), Plant System instrumentation & control (I&C) defines the hardware and software required to control one or more plant systems [1]. For diagnostics, most of the complex Plant System I&C are to be delivered by ITER Domestic Agencies (DAs). As an example for the DAs, ITER Organization (IO) has developed several use cases for diagnostics Plant System I&C that fully comply with guidelines presented in the Plant control Design Handbook (PCDH) [2]. One such use case is for neutron diagnostics, specifically the Fission Chamber (FC), which is responsible for delivering time-resolved measurements of neutron source strength and fusion power to aid in assessing the functional performance of ITER [3]. ITER will deploy four Fission Chamber units, each consisting of three individual FC detectors. Two of these detectors contain Uranium 235 for Neutron detection, while a third “dummy” detector will provide gamma and noise detection. The neutron flux from each MFC is measured by the three methods: · Counting Mode: measures the number of individual pulses and their location in the record. Pulse parameters (threshold and width) are user configurable. · Campbelling Mode (Mean Square Voltage): measures the RMS deviation in signal amplitude from its average value. · Current Mode: integrates the signal amplitude over the measurement period.

The 4m Advance Technology Solar telescope (ATST) will be the world's leading ground-based resource for studying solar magnetism that controls the solar wind, flares, coronal mass ejections and variability in the Sun's output. The project has entered its construction phase. Major subsystems have been contracted, designs are complete, and fabrication has started. As its highest priority science driver ATST shall provide high resolution and high sensitivity observations of the dynamic solar magnetic fields throughout the solar atmosphere, including the corona at infrared wavelengths. A high order adaptive optics system delivers a corrected beam to the initial set of state-of-the-art, facility class instrumentation located in the Coude laboratory facility. The initial set of five first generation instruments consists of imagers and spectro-polarimeters. Development and construction of a four-meter solar telescope presents many technical challenges, including thermal control of the enclosure, telescope structure and optics and wavefront control. A brief overview of the science goals and observational requirements of the ATST will be given, followed by a summary of the status of the telescope, its instrumentation, and the construction of the facility.

Aiming at the problem of maintenance and it is difficult to find the fault caused by optical parts fretting. By means of mathematical tools to express optical parts imaging laws. With the computer simulation technology, combining with optical fretting theory and practical problems, producting a set of simulation software and showing the influence of optical parts fretting. The results show that the fretting of optical elements influence the imaging effect and firing accuracy. For the maintenance training of universal and serialized sighting telescope, the simulation research provides technical means.

The existing software borne by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is mostly made up of functional modules with a simple design for meeting its functional requirements, thus being unable for the UAV to meet the requirements for its software to be intelligent, integrated and credible. To meet the requirements for the new-type UAV to be functionally varied, highly autonomous and intelligent, we construct the intelligent database and the network-adaptive and real-time middleware so as to greatly enhance the intelligence of the UAV-borne software and the autonomous flight capability of the UAV, paving a firm foundation for enhancing the functional diversity, autonomy and intelligence of the future advanced UAV.

controller design for omni-directional mobile robots (OMRs), which is referred to as a benchmark control problem in most of the related literature, becomes more difficult when their main characteristic to rapidly change position and orientation is desired. On the other hand, it is severe to provide their dynamics model analytically including an exact description of the slip phenomena. The aim of the present study is to design a model free control algorithm for a typical OMR equipped with 3 standard omni-directional wheels so that the interesting characteristic is preserved. In this way, a new software based mechatronic model, which contains numerical model of the ground contact forces, is introduced for the under study system. After that, the controller is designed via fuzzy logic theory based on fundamental movement modes. Some set of simulations are conducted in order to investigate the merit of the used method. Good trajectory tracking results are reported before advanced tuning of the proposed fuzzy controllers.

The next generation of large telescopes will depend critically on Adaptive Optics. The instrumentation now proposed for the E-ELT makes substantial demands on computing power for real-time control. These demands will be met by a combination of novel algorithms and the use of new developments in the world of high power computing. This poster summarises the developments made in meeting this challenge at the CfAI in Durham and our research and development plan over the next few years. We will demonstrate what can be done on an ELT scale with existing hardware (FPGA, GPU, CPU) and to what aspects of the real-time control system these technologies are best applied. In addition, we report on initial attempts at Durham to abstract them hardware from the software, using the high-level language OpenCL. This will be critical to making software for the E-ELT 'future proof' allowing for the introduction of new computing technology that will emerge over the long development period of E-ELT instrumentation.
