JASMINE is a Japanese planned space mission that aims to reveal the formation history of our Galaxy and discover habitable exoEarths. For these objectives, the JASMINE satellite performs high-precision astrometric observations of the Galactic bulge and high-precision transit monitoring of M-dwarfs in the near-infrared (1.0-1.6 mu m in wavelength). For feasibility studies, we develop an image simulation software named JASMINE-imagesim, which produces realistic observation images. This software takes into account various factors such as the optical point spread function (PSF), telescope jitter caused by the satellite's attitude control error (ACE), detector flat patterns, exposure timing differences between detector pixels, and various noise factors. As an example, we report a simulation for the feasibility study of astrometric observations using JASMINE-imagesim. The simulation confirms that the required position measurement accuracy of 4 milliarcseconds for a single exposure of 12.5-mag objects is achievable if the telescope pointing jitter uniformly dilutes the PSF across all stars in the field of view. On the other hand, the simulation also demonstrates that the combination of realistic pointing jitter and exposure timing differences in the detector can significantly degrade accuracy and prevent achieving the requirement. This means that certain countermeasures against this issue must be developed. This result implies that this kind of simulation is important for mission planning and advanced developments to realize more realistic simulations help us to identify critical issues and also devise effective solutions.

A classical remote labs platform is upgraded to develop and implement advanced remote real-time tools for research activities. The proposed collaborative network deploys distant equipment in electrical, mechanical and control engineering. The Web-based collaborative digital platform offers different issues such as secure Web access and data transfer with no required third-party software or licenses. The platform provides remote access for controlling and monitoring of research equipment, user-friendly Web interface with live video and data acquisition as well as fluid data visualization allowing time plots with logging features. It proposes digital data security technologies for data sharing, data processing and data saving. In addition, the present Web interface proposes a textual programming environment and code sharing tools for distance programming of research equipment, not locally available. The remote platform helps to build less infrastructure and to share more of the existing equipment between students, researchers and engineers. SAMOS, the SOAR Adaptive-Module Optical Spectrograph, is a multi-object spectrograph and imager built to utilize the adaptive optics system of the SOAR telescope in Cerro Pachon, Chile. This medium-resolution spectrograph has been designed around a digital micromirror device (DMD), which behaves as a slit mask. The DMD enables adaptable slit sizes and dynamic slit positions without the fabrication of custom components.(1) Due to the diffractive and scatter effects of the micromirror array, the inclusion of a DMD requires special considerations when quantifying stray light. We utilize results from an electromagnetic finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation, along with an opto-mechanical model of SAMOS, to conduct a stray light analysis. Ansys Lumerical is used for the FDTD simulation and Photon Engineering's FRED software is used to merge the models and run a bulk of the analysis.(2) Our results model specular ghost images and scattered light on the SAMOS focal plane arrays. This information is used to recognize problematic opto-mechanical surfaces and make system-level performance predictions. Our analysis identifies, characterizes, and allows for the mitigation of stray light using a streamlined set of macros written for FRED. This process is applicable to other astronomical instruments and can be used to improve the opto-mechanical design of a wide variety of systems.

The hydro-extraction process is one of the ways to purify and improve the quality of salt. Until now, the development of salt purification technology using the hydroextraction method has not been carried out where one of the processes of the hydro-extraction method is the mixing process. The design of the mixing system for the salt purification process starts from the design of hardware and software designs. In addition, an automation system design is also carried out to automatically control the actuators by using the solenoid valves and DC motors. The measurement system uses an ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 which has functions to measure the volume in the salt solution tank with an average measurement correction of 0.5, an average error of 0.17%, and an accuracy value of 95.3%. Measurement of volume in the salt tank with an average measurement correction of 0.05, an average error of 0.039%, and an accuracy value of 94.5%, as well as a level measurement in a mixing tank with an average measurement correction of 0.5, an average error 0.06%, and an accuracy value of 95%. Sensor monitoring data will be displayed on an LCD display and can be accessed on a smartphone via the Blynk application. © 2023 IEEE.

We have taken advantage of the implementation of an adaptive optics system on the THEMIS solar telescope to implement innovative strategies based on an inverse problem formulation for the control loop. Such an approach encompassing the whole system implies the estimation of the pixel variances of the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor, a novel real-time method to extract the wavefront slopes as well as their associated noise covariance, and the computation of pseudo-open loop data. The optimal commands are computed by iteratively solving a regularized inverse problem with spatio-temporal constraints including Kolmogorov statistics. The latency of the dedicated real-time control software with conventional CPU is shorter than 300 mu s from the acquisition of the raw 400 x 400 pixel wavefront sensor image to the sending of the commands.

We present an overview of the capabilities and key algorithms employed in the so-called eMPT software suite developed for planning scientifically optimized, multi-object spectroscopic (MOS) observations with the Micro-Shutter Array (MSA) of the Near-Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) instrument on board the James Webb Space telescope, the first multi-object spectrograph to operate in space. NIRSpec MOS mode is enabled by a programmable MSA, a regular grid of similar to 250 000 individual apertures that projects to a static, semi-regular pattern of available slits on the sky and makes the planning and optimization of an MSA observation a rather complex task. As such, the eMPT package is offered to the NIRSpec user community as a supplement to the MSA Planning Tool (MPT) included in the STScI Astronomer's Proposal Tool (APT) to assist in the planning of NIRSpec MOS proposals requiring advanced functionality to meet ambitious science goals. The eMPT produces output that can readily be imported and incorporated into the user's observing program within the APT to generate a customized MPT MOS observation. Furthermore, its novel algorithms and modular approach make it highly flexible and customizable, providing users the option to finely control the workflow and even insert their own software modules to tune their MSA slit masks to the particular scientific objectives at hand.

Under the Defense advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Zenith program, a novel concept has been developed for a self-assembling ferrofluidic ionic liquid mirror (FILM) telescope utilizing a Halbach array of permanent neodymium magnets. The primary mirror will be constructed from two immiscible liquids containing reflective and magnetic nanoparticles (NPs), which will spontaneously phase separate. To maximize reflectivity, minimize wavefront error (WFE), and anchor the reflective layer, the volume of the upper liquid has been minimized. The system is scalable and self-healing and can be deployed without applied acceleration or rotation. The Halbach array overcomes the force of gravity for a ground-based liquid mirror, providing a Kelvin body force potential parallel to the surface of the array. The liquids are held in place and shaped within the mirror by use of the magnetic array, hydrophilic materials, and the high surface tension and high viscosity of the liquid. By tuning the position of the magnet assembly and application of components that tune the effective magnetic field, the liquid surface is forced to adopt the desired optical shape and allows tilting off-axis and slewing with acceptable imaging quality WFE levels. We report here on the progress of this work in multiple areas including modeling and simulation of the magnetic fluid system optimized for a 0.5 m diameter demonstration mirror and the supporting development of laboratory 0.25 m x 0.25 m flat prototypes of the fluid and magnetic systems. Analytical and finite element models of the ferrofluid and magnetic array have been developed and these results have informed a PDR-level design for a notional build and demonstration of a 0.5 m diameter F/2 spherical mirror with overall root mean squared (RMS) WFE of lambda/6 at lambda= 550 nm at Zenith which can be slewed to off-zenith pointing angles of up to 10 degrees.

Autonomous vehicles are mobile robots that integrate advanced technology for navigation, decision-making, and control. These vehicles have been developed in response to the growing concerns around accidents and injuries caused by human drivers, as well as to reduce the negative impact of cars on the environment, including energy consumption, pollution, and congestion. A combination of sensors and algorithms gives autonomous cars a comprehensive understanding of their surroundings, allowing them to safely navigate roads, detect other vehicles, pedestrians, and traffic lights, and reach their *** research is intended plan the path with obstacle avoidance while restricting to the constraints imposed by the maximum lateral acceleration and turning angles along lane. The proposed approach is capable of real-time detection and recognition of obstacles and tracking lanes. Several obstacle detection sensors are used to detect and avoid obstacles coming from the front, left and right directions with the detection accuracies of 96%, 87% and 81% respectively. Lane line detection and tracking are performed by the real-time acquisition of images followed by real-time image processing. Evaluation results prove that the proposed method can efficiently detect and avoid obstacles while following the lane lines on the road. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, fires in energy storage power stations occur frequently, causing immeasurable losses to people's lives and property. The existing fire warning system is not accurate in judging accidents and is prone to misjudgment. Based on the study of the mechanism and development process of the battery thermal runaway, this paper determines the fire characteristic parameters required for predicting the fire of the storage power station, and designs the fire warning system platform of the storage power station according to the characteristic parameters, realizing the real-time detection and uploading of various emergencies of the storage power station. In the process of research, the AdamW algorithm based back propagation neural network is proposed, which is improved on the basis of previous algorithms, and the simulation is verified in Python software. To reveal the experimental results can show that the improved algorithm is more effective, energy storage power station is more suitable for now. © 2023 ACM.

Due to lack of electricity, many communities in India employ fossil fuel-based water pumping systems for irrigation. Due to the dangerous greenhouse gases they release, fossil fuels seriously impact the ecosystem. In this study, a solar energy-based automated water pumping system is suggested that can be deployed in many villages. The automatic system only activates the water pumps when the soil moisture content falls below a specific level, as measured by the moisture sensors positioned across the fields. This paper describes the advanced development on controlling and operating solar water pumps using the internet and messaging control for turning ON and OFF. The main aim of this type of system is to make it user-friendly, reliable, easy to handle and more efficient so that people can use it easily without facing any difficulty. This system saves electricity, produces a pollution- free environment, and also reduces the running cost. In this research work, modelling of an MPPT based solar water pump system is done in proteus software, which focuses on controlling the MPPT output power and switching of the solar pump. The Hill Climbing (HC) algorithm based MPPT is designed, which is coupled with a boost converter for obtaining high solar energy output. The overall output of the system is controlled by the Arduino programming based controller for automatic switching of solar pump. © 2023 IEEE.
