A diffractive superresolution element placed at the exit pupil can effectively increase the resolving power of an optical system for opticaldatastorage. The theory of linear programming is suggested in this paper to design the diffractive superresolution elements, which can get globally optimal solutions. Examples of design and some limits of optical superresolution are presented, and a comparison between the results for a uniform incident field and those for a Gaussian incident field is performed.

Results of implementation of technical solution for long term datastoragetechnology on the basis of single crystal sapphire are presented. The effect of birefringence on the distribution of the focused laser beam through a uniaxial birefringent medium having a vertical orientation of the optical axis is analyzed. An expression for the calculation of the geometric aberrations of the focused laser beam in single-crystal substrate of the optical disc has been presented. It is shown that the problem of data reading through a substrate of negative single crystal sapphire can be solved by using for reading a special optical system with a plate of positive single crystal materials. The experimental results confirm the efficiency of the proposed technical solution.

To keep up with the growing needs for datastorage, new-generation nanophotonic devices are being actively developed, as they have a high potential to meet all the essential industrial requirements. In addition to the high stability and capacity of such systems, it is highly desirable to provide them with additional security features that would protect data from unauthorized reading. However, this usually leads to inevitable and critical complications of existing recording techniques. This work presents a novel and facile technology for hidden datastorage, based on femtosecond laser processing of bilayer gold-silicon films at low energy densities. It is shown that the recorded data can be successfully extracted using photoluminescence signal mapping, while remaining completely invisible in an optical microscope. Furthemore, the use of the investigated procedure for the optical random key generation is also demonstrated. The proposed technology stands out for its simplicity and reliability and, thus, has the potential to be an excellent choice for industrial use in the upcoming era of secure optical communication.

Accurate and standardized testing procedure of disc storage life about new opticalstorage media materials has become an important challenge. In view of the new opticalstoragetechnology, we discuss and analyze the applicability and limitations of the application of holographic optical disk life test through the existing domestic and foreign disc test standards Because of materials changing in the holographic disc, we propose and optimize an aging test model and test procedure based on several discs aging test models. And also hope to provide a reference for the establishment of life test standards for holographic opticalstorage discs.
