Patient motion, which causes artifacts in reconstructed images, can be a serious problem in SPECT imaging. If patient motion can be detected and quantified, the reconstruction algorithm can compensate for the motion. In previous work, we described a prototype system for tracking patient motion. In this paper, we present a real-time multithreaded visual tracking system (VTS) that will be suitable for deployment in clinical trials. The VTS tracks patients using multiple video images and image processing techniques, calculating patient motion in three-dimensional space. High performance is achieved by acquiring and processing images in parallel. Our system will incorporate up to five optical cameras monitoring the patient. Each camera is associated with a thread of control within the VTS. Thus, video images can be acquired asynchronously. As images are acquired, they are stored in buffers until needed. Another processing thread is responsible for requesting images from a specific time, and processing those images as a stereo set. The SPECT system operates in list mode. In this mode, all detected events are stored in a long list together with an event timestamp. Thus, it is possible to temporally register the time-stamped images with the detected activity in order to rebin the SPECT data to compensate for patient motion

We discuss high density optical interconnects integrating an arrayed laser diode, silicon optical modulators, and germanium photodetectors on a single silicon substrate. A 5-Gbps error free data transmission with a 3.5-Tbps/cm~2 transmission density was demonstrated. Moreover, recent advances in silicon-InAs/GaAs hybrid quantum dot lasers by using a direct wafer bonding technique are discussed. We achieved a threshold current density of 205 A/cm~2 which is the lowest record among any lasers on silicon substrates.

As quantum computing continues to progress, there is an increasing need for standardized quantum network technology [1], [2] to connect quantum computers together. Experimental testbeds are necessary in order to develop quantum network software and hardware. Building a scalable testbed for data center-level quantum networks requires overcoming numerous engineering and technical challenges in quantum communications, quantum processing and quantum storage. In this work, we describe a software framework for use with an all-photonic quantum networking testbed. This framework is designed for rapid development and capable of automated execution of quantum experiments. We introduce PnPQ, an open-source, unified driver library for hardware commonly used in quantum optical experiments. On top of this low-level hardware control library, we present software modules for controlling and coordinating quantum network nodes using remote procedure calls (RPC). Finally, we describe high-level software for performing and analyzing quantum photonic experiments using these software modules. As a whole, these software components comprise the first version of a framework that will enable us to implement and test quantum network architectures. This framework is intended to help us move forward from building simple experiments to complex Quantum systems.

The evolution of electronic packaging technologies and the need for smaller hand held consumer electronics are two factors which are forcing designers to require increasingly higher densities on PCBs. PCB manufacturers are being challenged to produce boards with smaller feature sizes using advanced processing techniques to allow for the use of current advanced packages. One solution to the circuit density requirement is to reduce the diameter of the via and the associated pad at the design phase, but maintain producibility at board fabrication. advances in both material and processing capabilities have made flex materials an attractive alternative for use on low cost MCM-L applications. This paper describes and compares two methods of producing micro-vias in flexible laminate materials. data collected to compare the two methods is presented to determine if there is a difference in the reliability of laser versus plasma formed micro-vias. An actual application for a tactical missile electronics module that incorporates micro-vias on flex based materials is discussed, along with how the micro-via approach helped accomplish the required wiring density. Several other examples of how the incorporation of MCM-L technology with micro-vias enabled the redesign of ceramic modules to laminate based packaging are presented. Design rules for via diameter and pad diameter are discussed. Thermal cycling and thermal shock evaluations are performed on a test vehicle that represents wiring densities and techniques that are employed in production. Test conditions and conclusions are presented.

Epilepsy is still quite common, affecting over 50 million individuals worldwide, despite the tremendous advances in contemporary therapy. Early detection and treatment can greatly lower the chance of long-term harm and raise living standards for those with epilepsy. Electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive method that tracks electrical activity in the brain, is frequently used to diagnose this neurological disorder. Yet, using EEG data for diagnosis and study raises a number of issues with patient privacy and security protocols for such private digital data. An early epilepsy diagnostic system and a decentralized, secure environment for exchanging EEG data based on a block chain-based system with DL integration are presented in this work. The proposed method makes it possible to maintain patients’ personal data confidentiality and, at the same time, increase the efficiency of early epilepsy diagnosis. The most frequently used preprocessing technique in the strategy is Multiple Discrete Orthonormal S-Transforms (MDOSTs), and for feature extraction, Memory Efficient Vision Transformer-based Feature Extraction is employed. In classification, we use an Epistemic Neural Network (ENN) to achieve high precision and reliable prediction through the Electric Eel Foraging Optimization (EEFO) algorithm. The storage and dissemination of the data are both proactively secured through blockchain; through smart contracts, patients completely govern their data. The analysis of the Temple University Hospital EEG Corpus (TUH EEG) dataset proves that this method is diagnosed more than the traditional one, while the protection level of this data is also high. By achieving above 99% performance on all evaluation measures, such as F1-score, accuracy, recall, specificity, and precision, the suggested method demonstrates its remarkable efficacy in both secure EEG data sharing and early epilepsy detection. Two-photon excitation provides a means of activating chemical or physical processes with high spatial resolution in three dimensions and has enabled the development of 3D fluorescence imaging, 3D optical data storage, and 3D lithographic microfabrication. We have developed a wide array of chromophores which hold great promise for two-photon applications. These molecules are based on a donor-/spl pi/-donor, donor-acceptor-donor, or acceptor-donor-acceptor structural motifs. The magnitude of the two-photon absorption cross section and the position of the two-photon absorption maximum can be controlled by varying the length of the conjugated bridge and by varying the strength of the donor and acceptor groups. In this way, chromophores have been developed which exhibit strong two-photon absorption in the range of 500-975 nm.

Current advances in deep learning have resulted in a convergence of methods across a wide range of tasks, opening the door for tighter integration of modules that were previously developed and optimized in isolation. Recent ground-breaking works have produced end-to-end deep network methods for both speech separation and end-to-end automatic speech recognition (ASR). Speech separation methods such as deep clustering address the challenging cocktail-party problem of distinguishing multiple simultaneous speech signals. This is an enabling technology for real-world human machine interaction (HMI). However, speech separation requires ASR to interpret the speech for any HMI task. Likewise, ASR requires speech separation to work in an unconstrained environment. Although these two components can be trained in isolation and connected after the fact, this paradigm is likely to be sub-optimal, since it relies on artificially mixed data. In this paper, we develop the first fully end-to-end, jointly trained deep learning system for separation and recognition of overlapping speech signals. The joint training framework synergistically adapts the separation and recognition to each other. As an additional benefit, it enables training on more realistic data that contains only mixed signals and their transcriptions, and thus is suited to large scale training on existing transcribed data.

Sandia's Photovoltaic technology Laboratory (PTEL) routinely performs outdoor tests of a variety of one-sun and concentrator PV modules. Their experience is that while outdoor testing has its own set of problems, it can produce results that are more directly applicable to "field" conditions than testing in solar simulators. They have recently improved both the hardware and software at the PTEL to improve their accuracy and to deal with the special set of problems encountered in outdoor testing. Improvements in hardware include a computer-controlled solar tracker that allows them to test solar cell arrays up to 21 m/sup 2/ in size; infrared imaging of modules; and electronic loads that allow them to test components with outputs up to 1,800 watts. Improvements in software include real-time monitoring of data collection; a relational database that has improved the reliability of test setups, operations and analyses; and a standardized reporting process that relates module performance to a number of environmental parameters.< >

“PDF Fusion” introduces an innovative system that integrates PDF handling, chat interfaces, and voice recognition technologies to revolutionize document management.
