Indoor human activity recognition, when deployed on edge devices, holds promising application prospects in security surveillance. However, conventional CNN-based lightweight recognition methods perform poorly in indoor environments due to wall interference and signal attenuation. To address this issue, this paper proposes an effective lightweight model that balances parameters and performance to recognize seven types of human activities occurring behind walls. Specifically, the BiRAMNet consists of four pyramid-like stages and utilizes the Bi-level Routing and Residual (BRR) block, a fundamental block combining the strengths of CNNs and Transformers, as its building block. We introduce Bi-level Routing Attention to focus on the motion characteristics of the Doppler spectrogram, sidelining background information. The proposed model is benchmarked against baseline networks, including ResNet50, ResNet101, MobileNetv2, MobileNetv3 and EMO. The results highlight that our model achieves superior recognition accuracy and a lighter size. Future work includes extending BiRAMNet to more diverse human activity recognition scenarios and improving its performance for real-world applications. © 2024 SPIE.

In this era of pervasive connection and data collecting, it is more important than ever that people have access to and control over their own health data. This presentation offers a comprehensive overview of the most recent techniques and algorithms for the expedited processing of health-related data. Individuals may now gather and track an unprecedented amount of data about their health and fitness thanks to wearable devices, smartphone applications, and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. The potential benefits of better health outcomes, accelerated research, and patient empowerment may be enormous if this data could be managed correctly. This article digs into the innovative programs and algorithms that are changing the face of current healthcare data management. First, we examine the scalability, security, and interoperability of current data storage and retrieval techniques in detail. Some examples of information that might be collected, saved, and accessed with the use of such devices include physiological measurements, data on lifestyle choices, and medical records. This abstract also investigates potential future applications of innovative data processing and analysis techniques for gathering data on the health of the general public. Innovative methods for health data management, such as blockchain and federated learning, are discussed in depth in the abstract. By facilitating the safe and transparent exchange of data between academics, healthcare providers, and patients, technology developments like these foster collaboration and accelerate medical research. The study emphasizes the significance of users having control over and ownership of their data in health data management. Customizable dashboards, mobile applications, and user interfaces that are made as simple as possible allow people to actively engage with their own health data and make informed decisions. The quantization reconstruction of classical machine learning algorithms is an important research direction in quantum machine learning. Clustering, a widely applied algorithm in machine learning, also holds high research value when quantized. Currently, most quantum machine learning algorithms, including those employing AI techniques, face challenges such as difficulty in replication and the lack of intuitive comparisons with classical algorithms. A quantum prototype clustering algorithm (QPC) is proposed to address these issues, which can be easily deployed on existing general-purpose quantum computing devices. This approach first utilizes single-qubit rotation properties to find the feature mapping with minimal information loss, creating single-qubit rotations from two-dimensional feature data. Then, based on the characteristics of multi-qubit entanglement and entanglement system collapse, a quantum circuit for generating specific quantum entanglement systems and measuring the collapse results of entanglement systems is designed. By establishing the relationship between controlled qubit rotation angles in the entanglement system and the collapse results of the entanglement system and combining the definition of Minkowski distance, a quantum distance is derived for evaluating the similarity of input samples. The quantum distance measurement module, with the same input-output format as the distance calculation module in classical computers, can directly replace the Minkowski distance calculation in prototype clustering without modification, thus reconstructing classical prototype clustering algorithms, with AI included, into QPC. Multiple repeated experiments on publicly available datasets from Kaggle and Scikitlearn demonstrate that with AI integration, QPC exhibits no significant differences in evaluation metrics, such as average sample centre distance, compared to classical prototype clustering algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

The purpose of this study is to develop an autonomous and controllable voltage real-time calculation system based on Flink framework to improve the efficiency and accuracy of power equipment monitoring and management. The preprocessed data results are input to the least square support vector machine, and the Lagrange multiplier is introduced to construct a prediction model for the voltage prediction of the substation, thus completing the early warning of the low voltage substation. The experimental results show that the prediction error of the model is less than 1.5%, the delay time is 67ms, and the resource utilization ratio is 78%. This shows that the voltage real-time calculation system based on Flink framework can effectively improve the efficiency and accuracy of power equipment monitoring and management, and has important application value in the operation of power system. © 2024 SPIE.

Modern ultrashort pulsed high power (USP) lasers enable advanced and highly parallel micromachining processes. Due to constraints of the system technology, parallelization and beam shaping is mostly static during the process, which limits many interesting applications. The increasing power limits of liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) spatial light modulators (SLMs) now open the door to dynamic beam shaping and splitting in the machining process. Although the frame rates of high-performance LCoS displays are typically in the range of 60 Hz and above, these devices are still mainly used as programmable diffractive optical elements (DOEs) and usually remain static during the fabrication process due to the high computational cost of conventional computer-generated hologram (CGH) algorithms. Herein, we report on the application of real-time CGH algorithms for dynamically generating and modifying 3D spot-distributions for advanced micromachining processes with high power USP lasers. We use a recently demonstrated algorithm based on compressive sensing combined with a highly parallelized computation on graphics processing units (GPUs). This allows for the calculation of phase holograms on the timescale of typical SLM response time and enables an online adjustment of the beam shape and spot distribution. In a detailed investigation of different CGH generation strategies, the impact of hardware response times, calculation speed and heat accumulations on the parallelized multi-spot laser process is experimentally evaluated on silicon. The presented results reveal the challenges and limits of on-the-fly CGH computation in USP laser material processing with SLMs and assesses its gain in processing flexibility for versatile USP micromachining applications.

To meet the input voltage requirement of onboard chips in intelligent accounting devices, Utilizing the STM32 series microcontroller as the central control unit, a novel integrated Buck circuit voltage regulator applying PID control has been developed, where voltage monitoring and temperature detection are included. To simplify the driving circuit, we shift the switching of the Buck circuit;the use of operational amplifier circuits for voltage sampling and scaling, and the subsequent voltage tracking, makes the feedback signal more stable and not be disturbed. Designed interrupt program for microcontroller based on PID control algorithm, and programs to handle feedback voltage and PID control are included. The finalized voltage stabilization circuit design successfully achieves reliable voltage output, over-temperature shutdown circuitry, and alarm functionality. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Part of the effort to develop predictive maintenance systems, especially when Digital Twins are used as part of this effort, special attention is paid to the data acquisition using IoT devices, data that uses as inputs for the predictive algorithms. Usually when a new IoT device is connected to a data management system, several configurations and sometimes even code changes should be made, which increase the implementation costs and the implementation duration. The goal of this paper is to propose an architecture for a data management system that permits to connect a new IoT device to it such that the configurations to be made automatically on demand and to allow the IoT device to push the acquired data without any other intervention. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a method for supporting wayfinding in crowded buildings using Visible Light Communication (VLC). Luminaires are repurposed to transmit encoded messages, providing location-based information to users. Tetra chromatic LEDs and OOK modulation efficiently transmit data, while error detection techniques ensure reliable transmission. Users carry receivers that interpret the light signals and perform localization calculations. Wayfinding algorithms guide users with turn-by-turn directions, landmarks, and alerts. The system integrates VLC into an edge/fog architecture, utilizing existing lighting infrastructure for efficient data processing and communication. It enables indoor navigation without GPS, demonstrating self-localization and optimizing routes. This method enhances accessibility and convenience in unfamiliar buildings. © 2024 SPIE.

The stable closure of the gate affects the safety performance and normal operation of the gate, and it is necessary to detect the gap distance of the closed door, but the direct observation of the gate monitoring image by the naked eye alone cannot achieve high precision and long-term accuracy. In view of the shortcomings of the existing technology, this paper proposes a gate gap detection method based on double checkerboard calibration, which can accurately detect the distance between the two gates and improve the detection accuracy. Compared with traditional methods, the method in this paper can reduce the dependence on gate and camera installation positions, thereby reducing maintenance costs. © 2024 SPIE.

With the continuous development of modern communication technologies, many computation-intensive and delaysensitive applications have emerged. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) can perform excellent and unique in emergency communication systems by virtue of its flexibility. In this paper, a UAV-assisted fog computing emergency communication system is designed, wherein a UAV that has computing capabilities can act as a UAV Fog Access Point (UAV-FAP) and offer surrounding mobile devices (MDs) computational offloading services. The objective is to minimize the maximum processing delay of the system. The optimization problem of jointly optimizing MD scheduling, distribution of resources and UAV flight direction is proposed under energy consumption constraints. Considering that the problem is a mixedinteger nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, a computational offloading algorithm based on Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) is proposed to solve the non-convex problem. And the Switches from Adam to SGD (SWATS) algorithm is also invoked to update the neural network parameters with the optimizer to avoid falling into local optima to some extent. Simulation results show that the DDPG-SWATS joint algorithm converges quickly and has a small processing delay compared with the benchmark algorithm. © 2024 SPIE.
