With the continuous iteration and development of computer vision technology, intelligent applications and devices centered around this technology are gradually playing an increasingly important role in human daily life and military operations. Among these, technologies based on object recognition and detection are widely applied in fields such as robotics, drones, and aircraft combat. These areas require precise localization information provided by object detection technology to achieve functions like navigation or attack. However, due to the characteristics of the targets being detected, their scale changes according to their distance, resulting in significant scale variations in images for the same target. Timely detection of distant targets is crucial for aircraft control and early warning, making small target recognition a key factor limiting the widespread application of recognition algorithms. To address this issue, this paper processes the original images based on color space level, global level, and pixel level, proposing a small target recognition method for RGB images. This method involves separately processing different color spaces of the RGB image, followed by information fusion, analysis of the entire image and local regions, and pixel-level filtering in local areas. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm can accurately recognize targets of varying sizes and observation angles. © The Authors.

One of the current challenges in terahertz (THz) optics is overcoming the limitations of multipixel cameras, which suffer from low sensitivity and resolution. A promising solution lies in the use of single-pixel imaging techniques, employing spatial light modulators (SLMs), particularly the ghost imaging method combined with compressive measurements. This approach enables high-speed imaging comparable to multipixel cameras, while offering a higher signal-to-noise ratio. However, the quality of the reconstructed images is significantly influenced by the characteristics of the illumination patterns generated by the SLM. This paper proposes an optimization strategy for the ghost imaging method, based on ranking orthogonal basis patterns by their correlation coefficients during optical system transmission. This technique improves image quality compared to random pattern selection at the same levels of undersampling in compressive measurement algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Wearable electronics are electronic gadgets designed to be incorporated into clothing, worn on the body, or integrated into other items. Human Activity Recognition (HAR) utilizes Transfer Learning algorithms to track movements using sensor data from devices like accelerometers and gyroscopes. HAR finds applications in security, fitness tracking, and health monitoring systems. Utilizing pretrained models and engineered features from these models aids in creating accurate HAR systems. The expansion of edge computing has led to a shift in server deployment strategies, with an increasing preference for server hardware in outdoor environments. This shift is primarily aimed at reducing the latency of data processing and improving the utilization of network bandwidth. Despite the obvious potential benefits, outdoor environments present numerous challenges that can detract from the stability and reliability of server operations. Factors such as temperature changes, humidity levels, and exposure to natural elements can greatly affect server performance. In light of these challenges, this article explores the evolution of complex diagnostic systems for edge servers. On the basis of high-protection micro-outdoor cabinets, the research focuses on the design of complex real-time server monitoring and fault prediction algorithms. These algorithms are essential for early identification of potential problems, enabling preventative maintenance actions and reducing downtime. The overall goal of this study is to enhance the operational consistency of outdoor servers and ensure their efficient functionality under harsh conditions. In addition, by reducing the need for frequent and expensive maintenance, the proposed system aims to reduce the overall operating costs associated with managing servers. © The Authors.

In adverse weather conditions with low visibility such as smog and rain, the large amounts of water vapor and dust particles suspended in the air cause scattering, refraction, and absorption of visible light. This results in images captured by imaging devices having low contrast and color distortion, severely affecting the normal operation of outdoor visual monitoring systems. This paper proposes a rapid image dehazing method based on dark and bright channel priors and adaptive thresholds. First, the dark channel, bright channel, and grays cale images of the hazy image are calculated. The threshold and atmospheric light value are estimated through the bright channel image, and the dark channel image is processed using an improved Sobel edge detection algorithm to create a mask for refining the transmission map. Next, compensation is performed for the sky region to address the block effect problem present in the sky area. Finally, the clear, haze-free image is restored using the transmission map and atmospheric light value. This method effectively improves image contrast and clarity, reduces artifacts and noise problems present in traditional dehazing algorithms, significantly enhances dehazing effects, and meets the application needs of autonomous driving, intelligent transportation, and photogrammetry. Experimental results show that this method outperforms traditional algorithms in terms of dehazing effect, processing speed, and image quality, demonstrating significant practical value and broad application prospects. © 2024 IEEE.

As technology progressed, photonic wave processing and computation came which were low cost and robust. They provided a better alternative to design and combine with traditional optical network. These initial systems and architecture provided an interesting dimension in photonic wave processing and photonic computing. Here, in this work, we will be inspecting four basic logic gates, namely AND, XOR, OR, NOT based on semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) devices at 100 Gb/s. Later, the assessment will be done by confirming the truth table. There are various contents which we use in designing like data signaling probes, couplers, various kinds photonic wave amplifier (e.g., SOA) and optical bandpass filter. As we advance, we can build numerous functioning schemes like a flip-flop, shift registers, and sequential circuits in the photonics aspect. All of these devices are functioning on the principle of cross-phase modulation which takes place when photonic wave field goes to the same optical medium as the change in refractive index due to one optical field causes phase modulation of the other optical fields. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

4D human perception plays an essential role in a myriad of applications, such as home automation and metaverse avatar simulation. However, existing solutions which mainly rely on cameras and wearable devices are either privacy intrusive or inconvenient to use. To address these issues, wireless sensing has emerged as a promising alternative, leveraging LiDAR, mmWave radar, and WiFi signals for device-free human sensing. In this paper, we propose MM-Fi, the first multi-modal non-intrusive 4D human dataset with 27 daily or rehabilitation action categories, to bridge the gap between wireless sensing and high-level human perception tasks. MM-Fi consists of over 320k synchronized frames of five modalities from 40 human subjects. Various annotations are provided to support potential sensing tasks, e.g., human pose estimation and action recognition. Extensive experiments have been conducted to compare the sensing capacity of each or several modalities in terms of multiple tasks. We envision that MM-Fi can contribute to wireless sensing research with respect to action recognition, human pose estimation, multi-modal learning, cross-modal supervision, and interdisciplinary healthcare research.

Low light night vision systems based on I-2 tubes have been expanding rapidly over the past few years, due to a combination of the growing advancement of this technology and the increased pressure in the current climate. The design of a single optical bench able to fully characterize night vision devices is presented into this paper, focused more specifically on spot defects and goggle axes parallelism tests. These criteria are indeed very important: misalignment between the two binocular images may be one source of visual fatigue and could degrade task performance of the night vision user, and spot defects can act as visual distractions and may be large enough to mask critical information pilots need to conduct normal night vision operations. Thanks to HGH's IRCOL bench, these two tests are integrated on the same support. Spot defect measurement utilizes machine vision algorithms to determine the size and location of the defects, and the parallelism measurement identifies the angular misalignment between the two channels under test. The spot defect test has also been completely automatized compared to the only visible test previously available All these results will be compiled and directly integrated into a computer-generated report that can be easily used for quality control or for maintenance applications.

As Internet of Things (IoT) devices are being involved in abundant applications, security, and privacy of the IoT users have been of more concern. The security threats are rapidly growing making the solutions of security and privacy not inadequate. Thereby, each thing on the internet can be a point of target for hackers. Accordingly, ML algorithms are utilized for producing accurate outputs by using large and complex databases in which the produced outputs could be used in the prediction and detection of weaknesses in IoT systems. Additionally, BC methods are also being used for providing security and privacy solutions in IoT networks. Many existing studies have been carried out on BC techniques or ML algorithms or both. Though, these existing studies focus on either providing privacy or security issues by using BC techniques or ML algorithms, therefore, give rise to need for aa combined survey on solutions made recently which address both privacy and security issues by using BC techniques and ML algorithms. In this paper, we give a summarized survey of research works that happened in the last four years by addressing privacy and security issues by using BC techniques and ML algorithms in IoT networks. Different literatures have been categorized on privacy and security of BC techniques and ML algorithms in IoT. Then at last, some research challenges and future works are highlighted by using BC techniques and ML algorithms for addressing security and privacy issues in IoT networks. © 2023 IEEE.
