Polar codes with Reed-Solomon (RS) kernel exhibit significant promise in forthcoming communication systems owing to their elevated polarization rate. However, the successive cancellation list (SCL) decoders for this type of multi-kernel polar codes suffer from high decoding complexity. In this paper, we comprehensively investigate the characteristics of the Reed-Solomon (RS) kernel and propose three decoding nodes specifically designed for polar code with RS kernel, including Rate-0, Rate-1 and Quasi-Repetition (QREP) nodes, along with their corre-sponding soft information processing methods. Furthermore, we propose efficient Dual Reliable Decoding (DRD) algorithms and table-based algorithms for Rate-1 and QREP nodes, respectively. Results show that the proposed fast SCL algorithm of polar codes with RS kernel can reduce the complexity, while achieving similar performance.

In the contemporary landscape of cybersecurity, electronic devices are increasingly susceptible to various forms of exploitation, with TEMPEST (Transient Electromagnetic Pulse Emanation Standard) attacks posing a significant threat. This article delves into the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for detecting vulnerabilities in electronic devices through audio signal analysis within the TEMPEST domain. By leveraging advanced AI techniques, particularly machine learning algorithms, this study identifies a novel approach regarding the TEMPEST evaluation of electronic devices which process audio signal using artificial intelligence. The process involves the collection and processing of audio signals emanating from electronic devices, followed by the application of AI models to detect the presence of audio information in the received signal. The findings underscore the efficacy of AI involved in TEMPEST evaluation of electronic devices.

Large language models (LLMs) have shown remarkable performance across a wide range of natural language processing (NLP) tasks, becoming an essential part of modern society [1]-[4]. This exceptional performance can be attributed to huge model size and autoregressive computation [5], [6]. However, these attributes pose challenges for the efficient deployment of LLMs from 3 aspects, as shown in Fig. 23.8.1. First, an LLM has enormous external memory access (EMA) due to its autoregressive feature. During inference, it generates output tokens one by one until all the outputs are complete. In each iteration, the processor reads all model weights and the key-value (KV) cache for computation, while also storing a newly generated KV into the cache for further use. Hence, an LLM requires over 1000x EMA compared to a non-autoregressive Transformer [7], [8]. Second, an LLM may use a unique integer-float (INT-FP) mixed-precision general matrix multiplication (MP-GEMM). Due to accuracy concerns, weights can be quantized to INT, but the activations should be retained in FP [9]-[11]. Generally, processors dequantize INT weights to FP, turning MP-GEMM to FP-GEMM. This approach does not fully exploit quantization benefits and consumes 4.6x more power. Third, apart from GEMM, LLMs frequently use non-linear functions, such as trigonometric functions and softmax, which are commonly computed by a special function unit (SFU). The GEMM, as performed by a processing element (PE), depends on the non-linear results and thus waits for the SFU. Current processors fail to provide sufficient SFU throughput, resulting in PEs left waiting for 1/3 of the time [12], [13]. These problems hinder efficient LLM deployment for both cloud and edge devices, and are largely unexplored by existing accelerators which focus on traditional Transformers [13]-[22] or are limited to specific algorithms [23], [24]. © 2025 IEEE.

In the age of rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) world, more and more cybersecurity incidents have emerged in many IoT devices and systems. Therefore, the need for cybercrime investigation, especially for IoT devices, has become more imperative than ever. Memory forensics, the approach that inspects the memory dump to understand the current state or behavior of the attacked machine, contributes an important position in digital forensics and incident response for IoT systems. However, memory forensics encounter various challenges, including virtual address space (VAS) reconstruction or extracting kernel data structure in a given memory image. Most current tools and approaches leverage the knowledge of the operating system or propose heuristics to evade the commission of rebuilding VAS. In this research, we present our novel methodology to reconstruct the VAS for the memory images by using the paging mechanism of the Central processing Unit (CPU), primarily for the ARM architectures (32 and 64 bit), one of the most popular microprocessors in the IoT world. In addition, with the support of VAS, we extract the typical kernel data structure like the process linked list. Finally, we build a MemInspect2 toolset that gathers all algorithms, and we also test the tool in many standard OS kernels like Linux and BSD. © 2022 IEEE.

Photons are excellent carriers of quantum information: They are resistant to decoherence and can easily propagate over large distances. Mature technologies for controlling their creation, propagation, and detection are now available. This, along with their capabilities for interfacing between other quantum platforms give them a unique standing in the development of applications in the NISQ era and beyond.

In industrial application of structured light systems(SLS), besides the measurement accuracy, the robustness in longtime working situations is also significant. This requirement is hard to be satisfied due to the drifting of system parameters caused by factors such as the generated heat of the devices and the temperature variation of the environment. To ameliorate this drawback, this paper proposes a re-calibration method of SLS parameters in temperature-varying situations based on utilizing a series of circle marks as control-points. In this method, after initial calibration, a measurement of the whole workspace including these control-points is carried out as soon as possible, in which a series of two-directions phase images and an extra white image are captured. Through phase calculation and reconstruction, the precise poses of the control-points can be obtained and saved. Then, cost function is constructed by utilizing these control-points based on bundle adjustment and the system parameters are optimized. Compared with previous re-calibration methods, since extra constraint of relative pose between the camera and the projector is provided by registered circle marks, a target object with ground truth used to calculate the scale information in previous methods is not necessary anymore, which improves the compatibility of SLS application. Experiments are also carried out to verify the performance of this method. © 2022 SPIE.

Quantum systems for information processing rely on the distribution of quantum information in a network. Lanthanide complexes coupled to an optical cavity can act as an interface between a stationary and a flying QuBit. Here we show that in such a system the stationary quantum information can be mapped onto a photon, paving the way for a node in photonic quantum network.

Assessing traffic surveillance data is a prevalent utilization of deep learning methodologies. Video processing techniques were employed to develop the system aimed at determining the velocity of vehicles. The analysis of video speed is conducted without the requirement of camera calibration. Frame subtraction and masking techniques are employed to effectively segregate moving vehicles. The suggested system comprises four primary components. Object detection techniques are employed in the initial phase to identify and locate moving vehicles within a given footage. Real-time vehicle recognition leverages the utilization of R-CNN and deep learning techniques. In the subsequent section, algorithms are employed to observe the movement of objects within individual video frames. optical flow methods are employed in the third segment to ascertain the velocities of the respective vehicles. In the preceding part, the proposed work have utilized image processing techniques in conjunction with deep learning methodologies to accurately decipher the license plates of the automobiles under our surveillance. The experimental evaluation involving the utilization of traffic film demonstrated a system performance of 97% in precisely quantifying speed while achieving a license plate identification accuracy of 95%. The incorporation of state-of-the-art traffic management systems has facilitated the implementation of real-time speed monitoring and license plate reading capabilities. This facilitates the deterrence of automobile theft and the implementation of traffic regulations. Additionally, the methodology has the capability to identify traffic patterns and pinpoint regions of congestion, thus assisting in the effective management of traffic. © 2023 IEEE.

The perspectives of light-field images taken by lens-based light-field camera are fixed due to the fixed position and size of lenslet. Unlike lens-based light-field imaging, lensless light-field imaging technologies encode light-field information of scene through a diffuser, and then reconstruct the light-field images by computational algorithms. In this paper, a commercial holographic diffuser is employed in the lensless light-field imaging system, and a flexible complementary segmentation method of sub-aperture region is proposed for the point spread function (PSF). The surface of the holographic diffuser is composed of relief microstructures, which are pseudo-random and non-periodic. Hence, any region of the holographic diffuser can encode and recover light information of object independently, just like sub-aperture imaging from corresponding perspective. Firstly, the PSF of lensless light-field imaging system is calibrated, and the encoded image of scene is also captured;after that, the PSF is divided into two complementary regions as sub-PSFs, corresponding to different sub-aperture regions;then sub-aperture images of scene are reconstructed with corresponding sub-PSFs through reconstruction algorithm, achieving light-field image of selected perspective;properly dividing the sub-PSF and reconstructing sub-aperture image, the sub-aperture image array of light-field can be obtained;with these light-field images, digital refocusing can be achieved finally. Different from existing segmentation method of PSF in lensless light-field imaging, the complementary segmentation method divides PSF into two sub-PSFs while these tow sub-PSFs are complementary to each other. This allows us to arbitrarily select the position and size of sub-PSF flexibly, namely flexible perspective selection. Nowadays, many products in the medical area are disposable, such as needles, daily contact lenses, disposable ultra-thin surgical scalpel blades, infusion tubes. With the increasing demand in the market, manufacturers are striving to enhance production output while maintaining acceptable quality standards. Consequently, the implementation of an automatic inspection system for these products has become imperative. The main challenge with automatic quality inspection systems is the input data, consisting mainly of images captured during production. Image processing algorithms or deep learning models are used to analyze these images, classifying the products as "pass" or "fail" based on the inspection results. To minimize inspection time, high-quality input images are crucial, clearly distinguishing defects from the background. The optical system used for inspection must be carefully designed, considering the unique characteristics of each product, such as surface properties and external features that may pose challenges. In this article, we present a research study in which an optical system is designed using Dark Field, Coaxial and Dome lighting techniques to highlight defects on disposable surgical scalpel blades with metallic reflection surface. The Dark Field technique effectively reveals missing portions, cracks, or fractures on the cutting edge, while Coaxial lighting detects faults on the blade body. The Dome lighting technique provides illumination, preventing reflections on the metallic surface. We employed the Dome technique to inspect the quality of printed details on the aluminum foil sheet of the sealed blade’s pocket.
