optical Fiber Communication systems are increasingly used for transport networks due to the low cost, large capacity, and high bit rate of optical transmission [1]. However, effective traffic management and predicting future congestion levels is a critical challenge in order to ensure smooth and reliable operations. Machine learning algorithms can be used to accurately predict the future traffic volumes in such networks, providing real-time information on expected capacity usage and allowing operators to take proactive measures to prevent congestion. In this paper, we propose a novel Machine Learning based traffic prediction algorithm for optical Fiber Communications systems (OFCSs). The proposed algorithm uses a combination of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) architectures for predicting future traffic patterns. We train the model using a sequence of historical traffic data from an OFCS and evaluate it against benchmarks in terms of prediction accuracy and processing time. The results show that the proposed algorithm can make accurate traffic predictions, with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.036 for one-step-ahead predictions and 0.077 for five-steps-ahead. Furthermore, the processing time is significantly less than other benchmark models, providing a practical and reliable approach for predicting future traffic in OFCSs. We also discuss the implications of this study in terms of improving optical fiber capacity utilization and meeting the increased demand of growing data traffic.

With the deepening of communication engineering research, many advanced technologies are gradually produced in the signal processing of digital communication, among which the automatic modulation and identification of digital communication signals effectively improve the processing level of communication signals. In order to realize the intelligentization of all-optical network, this article puts forward the architecture optimization strategy of communication digital twin system based on artificial neural network (ANN) model. The average detection accuracy of the proposed method for communication digital twin system is 18.6% higher than that of the traditional method. It is said that the optimization method of communication digital twin system based on ANN shows remarkable effectiveness in the experiment. Through high-precision data acquisition, effective ANN model learning and deduction, and life-cycle prediction ability, this method provides strong support for the optimization of communication system.

In this era of pervasive connection and data collecting, it is more important than ever that people have access to and control over their own health data. This presentation offers a comprehensive overview of the most recent techniques and algorithms for the expedited processing of health-related data. Individuals may now gather and track an unprecedented amount of data about their health and fitness thanks to wearable devices, smartphone applications, and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. The potential benefits of better health outcomes, accelerated research, and patient empowerment may be enormous if this data could be managed correctly. This article digs into the innovative programs and algorithms that are changing the face of current healthcare data management. First, we examine the scalability, security, and interoperability of current data storage and retrieval techniques in detail. Some examples of information that might be collected, saved, and accessed with the use of such devices include physiological measurements, data on lifestyle choices, and medical records. This abstract also investigates potential future applications of innovative data processing and analysis techniques for gathering data on the health of the general public. Innovative methods for health data management, such as blockchain and federated learning, are discussed in depth in the abstract. By facilitating the safe and transparent exchange of data between academics, healthcare providers, and patients, technology developments like these foster collaboration and accelerate medical research. The study emphasizes the significance of users having control over and ownership of their data in health data management. Customizable dashboards, mobile applications, and user interfaces that are made as simple as possible allow people to actively engage with their own health data and make informed decisions. Iris recognition is a widely used biometric authentication technique due to its high accuracy and uniqueness. However, these systems are vulnerable to spoofing attacks, which can occur by rotating an iris image or an iris scanner during image acquisition. Additionally, correctly recognizing the eye side significantly reduces computational load and decreases the likelihood of false positives in biometric systems. This paper introduces a novel method for automatically detecting the correct left/right and upright/upside-down orientation of an iris image. The proposed method employs a lightweight feature extraction algorithm utilizing Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) to extract features from the iris image. A Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier is then used to determine the eye side or orientation of the iris images. LBP captures the local texture details, whereas GLCM describes the statistical features of the iris images. By combining these textural features, the proposed method improves the ability to classify eye side or orientation. The efficient and precise texture descriptors allow for implementation on embedded systems, including IoT or mobile devices. Experimental results on benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing baseline methods in both performance and speed.

To bring comfort to human life, reliance on smart devices has increased exponentially. In this digital era, millions of IoT devices are interconnected to store, process, and communicate information with each other. Nowadays, IoT devices are being used regularly in healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, smart homes, smart cities, defense forces, etc. The use of these devices is, however, strained due to limited resources in terms of storage, computation, and processing. Therefore, resource-intensive encryption algorithms cannot be executed to ensure the security of information. To overcome the limitations, cloud computing as a resource-rich technology may be integrated with IoT devices for maximizing output and utility. However, many security concerns arise after the integration of cloud computing and IoT devices. The purpose of this paper is to propose a novel approach i.e. NAC to provide strong access control and authorization mechanism for cloud-based IoT systems. A three-layered architecture i.e. IoT devices layer, Authentication layer, and Cloud computing layer have been presented. The NAC has been used on the authentication layer and cloud layer to enhance the security of a Cloud-based IoT system. Our proposed solution can minimize the chances of multiple attacks that are faced by cloud-based IoT systems. © 2021 IEEE.

Reverse engineering of FPGA based designs from the flattened LUT level netlist to high level RTL helps in verification of the design or in understanding legacy designs. We focus on flattened netlists for FPGA devices from Xilinx 7 series and Zynq 7000. We propose a design element grouping algorithm that makes use of the location information of the elements on the physical device after place and route. The proposed grouping algorithm gives clusters with average NMI of 0.73 for groupings including all element types. The benchmarks chosen include a range of designs from communication, arithmetic units, processors and DSP processing units.

We demonstrated high spectral efficiency real-time 500-Gb/s/carrier transmission over a 1200 km length with terrestrial field-installed cut-off shifted fiber (CSF) of ITU-T G.654.E compliant. For that demonstration, we used our real-time transponder and a combination of three amplification schemes (erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA), and forward and backward distributed Raman amplifiers (DRAs)) that met safety requirements for lasers as defined by safety standard IEC 60825-2. By using forward DRA, optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) improved by more than 1.3 dB. 66-GBaud polarization division multiplexing (PDM) 32 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signals were generated by a real-time transponder using a 16-nm digital signal processing application-specific integrated circuit (DSP-ASIC) with device imperfection compensation technologies. We compared the 500-Gb/s/carrier transmission characteristics in a wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) condition yielded by CSF, standard single-mode fiber (SMF), and dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) installed in the field. The results show that the best transmission characteristics are attained by CSF transmission with forward DRA. The 1234-km transmission achieved with high spectral efficiency of 5.71 b/s/Hz, is, as far as we know, the longest yet achieved in 500-Gb/s/carrier transmission field experiments.

Cloud computing network and next-generation network is now widely used, which brings more security threats. Based on the process and the network tuples communication to construct defense system, the key technologies of defense under IPv4/IPv6 dual stack network are researched. It presents the NRLS_Sunday based on improvement of the longest unique substring and Sunday algorithm, to avoid excessive repetitive character comparison and improve the matching efficiency of a single pattern string. Compared with BM, Sunday algorithm, the experiment shows the improved algorithm optimizes its time complexity. Under high-speed network, packet data contents is carried on rapid detection and analysis. Based on intelligent traffic restrictions for process and network, the intrusion detection and defense is conducted for network. In this paper, parallel packet detection method is studied under the high speed. Application web collaboration, and the unified arrangements and issued policies is applied in a complex network environment, proposing and realizing the effective method of defense in the complex network environment. © 2022 SPIE.

This paper investigates a mobile edge computing (MEC) aided multi-static integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system. In the considered system, each device has a task to be offloaded to MEC server for computation. Meanwhile, a sensing receiver (SR) has to detect a point target. To enhance detection probability, devices and base station (BS) collaboratively transmit radar signals and then SR detects the target of interest based on received radar echoes. Specifically, the whole task execution period is divided into two phases. In the first phase, devices offload partial of their tasks and simultaneously transmit radar signals for target sensing. In the second phase, the MEC server at the BS computes offloaded tasks and meanwhile devices along with BS transmit radar signals for sensing. Therefore, the entities in the system constitute a multi-static ISAC framework. Radar signal processing for multi-static sensing system is designed and the corresponding cooperative detection probability is derived. To ensure high energy efficiency, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize energy consumption of all devices under task computation and detection probability constraints by adjusting devices’ and BS’s beamforming, task partitioning, and phase duration allocation. This problem is efficiently solved by iteratively optimizing beamforming subproblem, time and task division subproblem through weighted minimum mean square error, successive convex approximation and search methods. Simulations verify the effectiveness of the proposed MEC aided cooperative sensing algorithm compared with non-cooperative sensing scheme.

The article analyzes the monitoring tasks of branched fiber-optic networks, the principles of the technical implementation of optical fiber monitoring systems, as well as the algorithms for processing pulse-reflectometry information. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in optical fiber monitoring systems. The purpose of the paper is to present the necessary calculations and some results of experimental studies which are difficult to ignore. It is worth mentioning that the monitoring systems under study allow maintenance personnel to identify damage in optical communication lines in real time. The use of the Brillouin reflectometry method is proposed for the early diagnosis of damage. The distinctive feature of this method is the use of the phenomena of spontaneous and stimulated Mandelstam-Brillouin scattering. Although extensive research has been carried out on branched fiber-optic networks, the combination of methods makes it possible to identify the tension distribution of an optical fiber along its length. The present results are significant in at least some major respects. This greatly simplifies preventative maintenance. Given the size of modern digital fiber-optic networks, we can hardly overestimate importance and amount of information transmitted through them, economic efficiency of the monitoring system. © 2021 IEEE.
