Datacenter is an important product of information society and an important supporting part for the development of new Internet businesses. With the emergence of a large number of new Internet technologies, the network demand and data traffic of users are growing rapidly. Datacenter needs larger data capacity and better system performance. High-speed optical interconnection technology has attracted more and more attention and become the main solution to the problem of traffic growth in datacenter, with its characteristics of high bandwidth, low loss and low cost. In this paper, several mainstream signal modulation formats, digital signal processing (DSP) compensation algorithms and signal damage compensation algorithms are investigated for intra datacenter optical interconnection and inter/extended datacenter optical interconnection, respectively. Their principles, performance, advantages and disadvantages are analyzed and compared in detail, and the future development of datacenter optical transmission is prospected. © 2020 ACM.

Historical Document processing (HDP) is the process of digitizing written material from the past for future use by historians and other scholars. It incorporates algorithms and software tools from computer vision, document analysis and recognition, natural language processing, and machine learning to convert images of ancient manuscripts and early printed texts into a digital format usable in data mining and information retrieval systems. As libraries and other cultural heritage institutions have scanned their historical document archives, the need to transcribe the full text from these collections has become acute. Since HDP encompasses multiple sub-domains of computer science, knowledge relevant to its purpose is scattered across numerous journals and conference proceedings. This paper surveys the major phases of HDP, discussing standard algorithms, tools, and datasets and finally suggests directions for further research.

The new method of digital signal processing is presented. The new signal processing technique is based on carrying parametrization problems with the help of data mining. It allows us to obtain the images of signal sources with angular superresolution. The high speed of the method, in contrast to many well-known methods, allows us to use it in real-time. The results of numerical experiments on mathematical models are presented.

Scheduling is a common decision-making process that plays a vital role in many manufacturing systems and information processing environments. Usually, all jobs in a scheduling problem need to be dispatched, and the objective function is related to the state after all jobs are completed. However, in order to balance the contradiction between the cost and the performance, many practice scenarios no longer require processing all jobs. The scheduling problem that only considers the completion of part jobs is referred to as percentile scheduling problem. In this work, we pave the way for it. We study and theoretically analyze the two percentile scheduling model of the multi-parallel machine environment, considering there is a release time or not. We propose an algorithm with a guaranteed approximation ratio for the model without release time to reduce our problem to the counterpart in the classical scheduling model. For the model with release time, an algorithm named CONVERT is designed, which combined with SRPT can produce a scheduling sequence with an approximation ratio of 6.

optical character recognition (OCR) is an important branch in the field of machine vision. It involves pattern recognition, image processing, digital signal processing, artificial intelligence and other disciplines. It is a comprehensive. It has important use value and theoretical significance in high-tech fields such as word information processing, office automation, machine translation and real-time monitoring system. In the 21st century, with the popularity of smart phones with high-definition cameras, OCR has a new pursuit in its development: more and more people pick up their mobile phones to photograph the things and scenes they see and obtain the text information in the pictures. Therefore, the recognition of characters in natural scenes has become a brand-new topic. In the past, text detection and text recognition algorithms were basically based on artificially designed features and traditional image processing methods. These features and algorithms were difficult to design and needed a lot of professional knowledge and experience support, so the accuracy was not high and they were not generalized. In recent years, with the rapid development of deep learning technology, breakthroughs have been made in the fields of computer vision such as image classification, object detection and semantic segmentation. Deep learning algorithm is a data-driven algorithm. The algorithm based on deep learning can automatically discover and learn the hidden feature rules in a large number of data through iterative training, without too much human intervention, so it has better generalization than traditional image processing related algorithms. © 2020 IEEE.

The article analyses possible applications for Brillouin scattering in optic-fiber sensors. They make it possible to do temperature and physical strain measurements with high accuracy for long line sections. The functional dependences of the output signals characteristics on parameters measured by the sensors are studied. Of particular interest are the results of the analysis of the spectral component shifts in the Brillouin light scattering depending on the fiber elongation and temperature. After a brief review of the basic theoretical principles the results of some researches aimed to expand the dynamic range and to increase spatial resolution. The results of simulation in professional design software environment OptiSystem 17.1. are described. The results are obtained by experimental research based on Brillouin reflectometer AQ8603 manufactured by "ANDO" (Japan). They show that it is possible to implement optic-fiber sensors based on Brillouin scattering in telecommunication systems, oil and gas industry, in electric-power industry, construction, aviation and space industry. The objectives for further research are to perform metrological analysis at all stages of the method implementation, to complete the base of Brillouin spectrograms for optical fiber of various types and to improve algorithms for automated processing spectra in order to expand functionality of the systems. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. We investigate an orbital angular momentum (OAM) mode supporting fiber scheme for O-band data center MIMO-less transmission scene. How to increase the weakly-coupled mode group (MG) and meanwhile not decrease the mode purity is an issue. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to design a six radial first-order OAM modes supporting ring-core fiber, where multi-step-index structure is used to modulate the effective refractive index difference (Δn eff ) between the radial first-order OAM mode and the adjacent mode to get more useful MGs and high purity OAM modes.

We study bandit convex optimization methods that adapt to the norm of the comparator, a topic that has only been studied before for its full-information counterpart. Specifically, we develop convex bandit algorithms with regret bounds that are small whenever the norm of the comparator is small. We first use techniques from the full-information setting to develop comparator-adaptive algorithms for linear bandits. Then, we extend the ideas to convex bandits with Lipschitz or smooth loss functions, using a new variant of the standard single-point gradient estimator and carefully designed surrogate losses. © 2020 Neural information processing systems foundation. Due to the interconnection between devices in the optical transmission network (OTN), when one device fails and generates alarm information, a large number of other invalid alarms are generated in OTN. How to mining association rules in alarm data is an important problem. In this paper, we investigate the association rules mining problem based on a statistical method. First, we remove the chattering alarm in preprocess to reduce data redundancy. Second, we propose a statistics-based association rule mining algorithm. We use a sliding time window to scan the alarm data, and we exploit the matrix to record the corresponding results. According to the matrix, we calculate the support and confidence of association rules. Compared with other traditional association rule mining algorithms, the proposed algorithm does not need to set the minimum support artificially, and the obtained association rules have strong causality. Through extensive experiments on syn-thetic and real OTN alarm datasets, we verify the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm and the correctness of the obtained association rules.
