In ad-hoc environments, all nodes have function to set themselves a route and build a network. It is important how trustable each node is in the environment. This study proposes the cluster-based trust model, and uses the model to discuss how you can solve some possible problems occurred in the network. The reputation from a neighboring node is applied to the calculation of the trust value. If the trust value of a truster is used as a weight, more sophisticated calculation of the trust value is available. When you create a cluster, all nodes in the cluster can fully trust the selected head, if entire nodes in the cluster participate in the head competition. And then, the head node issues the certificate that shows the trust level of each member node. If a node moves from one cluster to another, the trust level of the node is determined by the certificate issued by the previous cluster-head. The model proposed by this study can monitor the selfish behavior of nodes in the network and isolate the selfish nodes from the network to enhance the effectiveness throughout the network.

Data center networking (DCNs) is a fast emerging enterprise application that is driving metropolitan bandwidth needs. This paper evaluates the needs of this emerging IT-centric, bandwidth voluminous and service rendering application from a metro optical networking perspective. We identify a set of needs called CAVALIER (consolidation, automation, virtualization, adaptability, latency, integration, economy and reliability) that are underlying requirements for a network to support DCN services. The CAVALIER requirements are met by proposing a metro optical solution which is based on light-trail ROADM technology. Light-trails exhibit properties such as dynamic bandwidth provisioning, optical multicasting, sub-wavelength granular support and low-cost for deployment. Adapting light-trails to DCN needs is discussed in this paper through engineering requirements and network-wide design. Each aspect of the CAVALIER requirement is then mapped on to light-trail technology. Simulation results are shown to lead to performance betterments.

Ubiquitous computing environment requirement needs information sharing of sensors based on sensor network technology, situation-aware and determination functions and other related technologies ranging to appropriate and effective action processing. The sensor field independent information access is most important issues in everywhere under the ubiquitous computing environment. We already proposed UbiMDR framework that is a supporting application-independent semantic interoperability for ubiquitous applications. However, the functions of the UbiMDR are limited only to identification and recognition of objects. The chief objective of our proposal is to let extending the UbiMDR supporting situation-aware access control about objects consistently and independently on various application fields (companies/ systems). This paper fist describes the current UbiMDR, and presents our proposed model for supporting situation-aware of UbiMDR. Also conceptual architectures of situation aware are shown.

Technical advances in ubiquitous sensing, embedded computing, and wireless communication are leading to a new generation of engineered systems called cyber-physical systems (CPS). CPS promises to transform the way we interact with the physical world just as the Internet transformed how we interact with one another. Before this vision becomes a reality, however, a large number of challenges have to be addressed. network quality of service (QoS) management in this new realm is among those issues that deserve extensive research efforts. It is envisioned that wireless sensor/actuator networks (WSANs) will play an essential role in CPS. This paper examines the main characteristics of WSANs and the requirements of QoS provisioning in the context of cyber-physical computing. Several research topics and challenges are identified. As a sample solution, a feedback scheduling framework is proposed to tackle some of the identified challenges. A simple example is also presented that illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

The mobile communication systems today, have different radio spectrum, radio access technologies, and protocol stacks depending on the network being utilized. This gives rise to need of a flexible hardware platform that is capable of supporting all the different standards in the entire wireless communication frequency range. We present a generic baseband prototype architecture for SDR applications, subdivided into a high level control module and a digital signal processing engine. The DSP engine is composition of highly configurable processing blocks, each dedicated to specific algorithms based on the analysis of different standards. We also present the internal architecture, simulation results and use cases for different air-interfaces of two processing blocks as case studies.

Advancement in wireless communication and electronics has made possible the development of low cost sensor networks. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) facilitate monitoring and controlling of physical environment from remote location with better accuracy. They can be used for various application areas (e.g. health, military, home). Due to their unique characteristics, they are offering various research issues that are still unsolved. Sensors energy cannot support long haul communication as changing energy supply is not always possible in WSN. Also, failures are inevitable in wireless sensor networks due to inhospitable environment and unattended deployment. Therefore fault management is an essential component of any network management system. In this paper we propose a new fault management architecture for wireless sensor networks. In our solution the network is partitioned into a virtual grid of cells to support scalability and perform fault detection and recovery locally with minimum energy consumption. Specifically, the grid based architecture permits the implementation of fault detection in a distributed manner and allows the failure report to be forwarded across cells. A cell manager and a gateway node are chosen in each cell to perform management tasks. Cell manager and gateway nodes coordinate with each other to detect faults with minimum energy consumption. We assume a homogeneous network where all nodes are equal in resources. The architecture has been evaluated analytically and compared with different proposed solutions.

The tourism industry in China has been experiencing an unprecedented growth in recent years. But in the meantime there are also a series of serious issues like disorder stream of tourists, serious damage to the scenic spot, and inflexible emergency event processing mechanism in tourism of our country. In order to solve these problems, this paper presents tourism Web service meta-model TWSMM; proposing emergency event handling mechanism based on Web-services, to realize dynamic tour information change processing and provide relative solution. This paper and its implementation has great importance in coordinating among the tourism departments scientifically and reasonably, ensuring people traveling in order and processing tour urgent events in time. Outcomes of this paper will contribute significantly to regulate the tourism market, improve tourism information service, realize non-obstacle tourism, and further assist the growth of tourism.

Traffic matrix (TM) is constructed by all origin-destination (OD) pairs (or flows) in a network, which describes the characteristics of IP networks from the global aspects. Though TM estimation is well-studied, TM is generally unavailable in a large-scale IP network and is difficult to be estimated accurately. This paper proposes a novel method of large-scale IP TM estimation, based on simulated annealing, termed the Simulated Annealing and Iterative Proportional Fitting Procedure (SAIPFP) method. Firstly, based on conventional simulated annealing, we propose a modified simulated annealing method, which considers sufficiently spatial-temporal correlations of OD flows and is combined with partial flow measurement. By the modified method, we can attain good estimations of TM. Secondly, combined with iterative proportional fitting procedure, the more accurate estimations are attained. Finally, we use the real data from the Abilene network to validate our method. The results show that our method can perform quickly the accurate estimation of large-scale IP TM, and track well its dynamics.

network on chip (NoC) has become an active research area for high performance computer. Based on round-robin scheduling algorithm, we present three new scheduling algorithms for FIFO input queue (IQ) switches of network on chip, which are called rr-path, rr-dist and rr-al respectively, rr-path schedules the NoC traffic according to the distance between the source node and the destination node, and rr-dist schedules the NoC traffic according to the distance between the current and the destination nodes, and rr-al schedules the NoC traffic according to the difference between the arrival and the left flits numbers of every ports. We implement these algorithms in a network simulator, and analyze their performance using hotspot and uniform traffic patterns. Compared to round-robin scheduling algorithm, all of the new algorithms can reduce the max communication latency. In most cases, they can also reduce the average communication latency. Consequently, these new algorithms can improve the performance of multiprocessor systems.

Central to this paper is the use of electronically-steered directional antennas with COTS radio technology to increase performance. In this paper, we describe a multi-sector wireless architecture using several such radios/antennas in a complete system. We discuss networking issues and solutions that arise due to this architecture including link discovery, signal tracking, handover, and the coordination of these between nodes. We also introduce the concept of using a ldquogateway aliasrdquo which provides transparent routing by allowing multiple radios to appear as a single node. The system has been implemented using high gain, switched-beam directional antennas and tested in an operational environment. Results and future direction are discussed.
