We introduce our optical grid infrastructure where end-to-end, bandwidth-guaranteed lightpaths are established simultaneously. This is developed on a light-path network that employs wavelength-routing. One application may send a request for multiple lightpaths to the network, which establishes the lightpaths one-by-one. Thus, several lightpaths may be rejected due to simultaneous reservation of an identical wavelength or undesired wavelength use. The proposed control-layered structure consisting of application, optical-grid control, and optical-networkcontrol layers bridges the gap between applications and opticalnetworks. The optical-grid control layer translates an application request to form a set of lightpaths into multiple requests for the network. This layer is also capable of adjusting the available network interfaces of the hosts and the available wavelengths of the network such that all the lightpaths are likely to be established. We address our testbed network in the Tokyo metropolitan area and a collaborative work with e-VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry), which requires long-distance, high-speed, and non-data loss communication circuits in the network.

Modern data and communicationnetworks have been growing dramatically in diversity, heterogeneity and complexity. Hence the management of such dynamic networks is an extremely difficult task due to some key issues such as;the increasing network size and functionality, rapidly and continuously changing network topology and complexity. This paper introduces a management paradigm to give rise to the autonomic management solutions (Le., activation, monitoring, control, and administration) of management functionalities. It also introduces an architecture that (1) places lite various management functions (FCAPS) into a design structure that can be used to select those functions that may give way to autonomic management and (2) to design the algorithms that may fulfill the management function. This architecture consists of four horizontal logical layers (Products, Components, Services, and Resources Layers) and two vertical logical layers (Management layer and information layer). Autonomous management agents (Swarm agents in this context) sit in the management layer and can sense changes/events in the four horizontal layers and react autonomically to reconfigure and adapt themselves based on the information scattered and gathered over the network.

This paper proposes a slotted access protocol for WDM ring networkarchitecture suitable for Metropolitan Area networks. Each node uses a pair of tunable transmitter and tunable receiver to communicate exploiting all the fiber data wavelengths. Also, each node uses a pair of fixed tuned transmitter and fixed tuned receiver to exchange control information over a separate control wavelength. The proposed protocol efficiently faces the serious scalability problems that many WDMA ring protocols introduce, due to the use of a dedicated data wavelength per node for either transmission or reception. Performance evaluation is provided through theoretical analysis and through a discrete event simulation model using both Poisson and self-similar traffic sources, giving more realistic performance evaluation. Simulation results show that the proposed WDMA protocol manages efficient network utilization providing excellent fairness among the nodes. Comparative simulation results prove that the proposed access scheme achieves significant performance improvement compared with the study of [5] which employs nodes with one fixed tuned transmitter.

This paper combines these issues and presents a solution where the Kilavi sensor network platform can be used as middleware to provide information for ZUMA. Kilavi is a centralized protocol designed for communication between high capacity management point and low capacity sensor nodes in building environment. ZUMA is a centralized future smart-home platform that interconnects all kinds devices in the home environment. This paper mainly focuses on sensor network operation issues. The discussion is on the benefits that the centralized architecture can provide in typical sensor network operations that are node discovery, routing and data dissemination, power control, and security. To support the discussion, the paper gives numbers that illustrate the benefits that centralization has over typical decentralized WSN solutions in home environment.

Such usages require study of packets with low level details such as signal strength, rate and frame control parameters. We provide a novel architecture called WiFiDump which can provide such low level details from network driver to a user space process. We also provide an implementation and evaluation of the proposed architecture for 802.11b networks on systems running prism2 chipset based cards. Further, the entire package has been incorporated on Linux with the popular packet capturing and filtering library libpcap and the standard tool - tcpdump.

Today there are many information services present that are using technology of notification and information management. Information and communication Technology could improve process of education by addressing key problems at a reasonable cost. As a result of such an effort SMS School Notification Service (SMS-SNS) has been developed, addressing problems of school information exchange between students, parents and teachers. Mentioned information exchange can be maintained by mobile network and Internet. This article presents the experience of development of SMS-SNS from the idea itself, through the architecture, and finally its implementation within telecommunicationnetwork. Given implementation experience covers period from the moment of application sale till it's conversion into service. Major problems and pitfalls are explained faced by the potential service provider, as well as instructions for avoiding them in order to transform application into profitable service. Once in operation, SMS-SNS system technologically enables a social network, which enhances social processes in schools and provides additional communication stimulus within the social network of teachers, parents and students. The proposed system directly improves communication between teachers and parents and indirectly the communication regarding school events within a family. all this finally results with numerous benefits to all participants of this communication model and improves education system itself, which is validated through the given daily usage experience.

High frequency in the number of joining members can cause massive flow of data between authorized group members. Although hierarchical group communication is a prominent model, it has not been investigated in security literature as well as other models. There has been an extensive research on satisfying confidentiality in group communications on different architecture other than the hierarchical architecture and the proposed hierarchical models do not use the concept of agents. In this paper, we investigate a new approach to secure key management in hierarchical group communication by means of bandwidth reduction. This can be accomplished by using agents. The simulation results show that using agents reduce network bandwidth and improve and achieve more performance comparing with other models.

Call Admission control (CAC) protocol will try to be fair, fast, reducing inconveniences, and maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) at the time of deciding whether a call request will be accepted or rejected into a network or communication system. A good CAC should have the ability to select the calls among the requested calls in such a way so that maximum fairness is justified by its performances at the sometime it should achieve some targets such as maximizing the revenue considering the constraints of the network system such as limited bandwidth. In the today's communication world the demand of bandwidth increases sharply due to the different users different types of service requirements such as audio, video, voice etc. from the same communication system. Besides need to deal with different tariff. So considering all these issues a CAC needs to decide which call requests should be admitted or not, which is obviously a critical and difficult task. In this paper a new CAC protocol is proposed that can select the best calls for the communication system, it can optimize the generated revenue from the network system, it can handle the different call admission situations in a fairness way, it can consider the different priorities based on class, can maximize the revenue of the communication system and also maintains the overall QoS for any network or communication system. Empirical results have shown its excellent performances for any network and communication platform.
