As an enhancement of cellular networks, the future-generation 5G network can be considered an ultra-high-speed technology. The proposed 5G network might include all types of advanced dominant technologies to provide remarkable services. Consequently, new architectures and service management schemes for different applications of the emerging technologies need to be recommended to solve issues related to data traffic capacity, high data rate, and reliability for ensuring QoS. Cloud computing, Internet of things (IoT), and software-defined networking (SDN) have become some of the core technologies for the 5G network. Cloud-based services provide flexible and efficient solutions for information and communications technology by reducing the cost of investing in and managing information technology infrastructure. In terms of functionality, SDN is a promising architecture that decouples control planes and data planes to support programmability, adaptability, and flexibility in ever-changing network architectures. However, IoT combines cloud computing and SDN to achieve greater productivity for evolving technologies in 5G by facilitating interaction between the physical and human world. The major objective of this study provides a lawless vision on comprehensive works related to enabling technologies for the next generation of mobile systems and networks, mainly focusing on 5G mobile communications. In this paper a general architecture of tightly-coupled integrated LR-WPAN/Wi MAX network has been introduced by proposing and utilising a novel access router named Wireless Integrated Access Router(WIAR). The suggested access router effectively combines both Wi MAX and LR-WPAN technologies in a same device. The main motivation to propose this integration is to deploy Internet of Things(Io T) applications and services in wide area networks. Using Wi MAX as backhaul service, the Internet connection can be provided for dispersed mobile LR-WPAN users over a wide area. Moreover, it enables to access all collected data in the local LR-WPAN coverage area – which is named as Senspot in this paper – by third-party clients through the Internet. Furthermore, an analytic model has been developed for the integrated network to evaluate the system's performance. Theoretical results on blocking probability of new and handover calls from Wi MAX subscribers, as well as new connections from LR-WPAN Senspots in a cell of Wi MAX have been investigated in terms of call/connection rates and number of allocated channels.

Wireless Sensor networks (WNs) as emerged as promising paradigm to monitor the physical world and it allows the network deployment at a very low cost. In WSNs energy consumption of a node is a critical aspect as it is a limited resource. Since the nodes are tiny devices with limited storage, computational capability a power, it is necessary that all protocols at all layers in WSNs must be energy efficient. The focus, however, has been given to the routing protocols which might differ depending on the application and network architecture. In this paper, we present a survey of the state-of-the-art Hybrid Routing Algorithms (HRA) for WSN. Here, we present classification of different HRA for the various approaches chased. This paper also proposes a novel energy efficient Multi Objective HRA (MOHRA). MOHRA uses a two-level hierarchical clustering and the data packets are forwarded using best route which uses weighted sum of different metrics to achieve both energy efficiency and energy balance throughout the network. MOHRA takes into account Total Energy consumption, control Overhead, Reaction Time, LQI, and HOP Count for selecting the best path from source to sink.

Wavelength band switching (WBS) has only recently attracted attention from the optical networking industry for its practical importance in reducing the control complexity and cost of optical cross-connects (OXCs). However, WBS-related problems of theoretical interest have not been addressed thoroughly by the research community, and many issues are still wide open. In particular, WBS is different from wavelength routing, and thus techniques developed for wavelength-routed networks (including e.g., those for traffic grooming) cannot be directly applied to effectively address WBS-related problems. In this paper, we first propose a new multigranular OXC (MG-OXC) architecture for WBS, which is more flexible than any existing WBS node architectures. We also adopt the most powerful waveband assignment strategy, and develop an efficient heuristic algorithm called Balanced Path routing with Heavy-Traffic first (BPHT). To verify its near-optimality, we also develop an integer linear programming (ILP) model. Both the ILP and the BPHT algorithms can handle the case with multiple fibers per link and hence are more general than our previous single-fiber solutions X. Cao et al. (2002). We conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the benefits of WBS through detailed analysis and simulations. We show that the proposed heuristic BPHT can perform much better than a heuristic which applies the optimal routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) method. We also show that WBS using BPHT is even more beneficial in multifiber networks than in single-fiber networks in terms of reducing the port count. Our analytical and simulation results also provide valuable insights into the effect of wavelength band granularity, as well as the trade-offs between the wavelength-hop and the port count required in WBS networks.

Our warfighters rely on flexible, resilient, high performance, and global DoD SATCOM networks to operate effectively in a contested, degraded and operationally-limited (CDO) environment. Today, a multitude of DoD networks exist as stovepipes with disparate networking architectures, cybersecurity requirements, management and control tools. We believe that Internet Protocol convergence becomes insufficient to achieve interoperability in the military mission networking context. As the future battlespace involves multiple domain capabilities and assets that must be assembled within mission relevant timelines, operate in unison, and be adaptive to battlespace, a new model is needed to deliver high performance multi-mission and multi-domain data transport. The Flexible network Interface (FNI) is a robust integration framework that deploys enabling technologies to operationalize heterogeneous networks (DoD and commercial). It delivers consistent end user experience, architecture resiliency, and optimized performance; leveraging heterogeneous host networks and commercial managed services across space, air, ground, and sea. This paper provides an overview of the USSF SSC FNI concept, which is being matured through a series of capability prototyping and demonstration initiatives. We describe the FNI framework's design considerations, and its associated architecture instantiations, key functional elements and interfaces. Several important technology requirements are highlighted, which motivate targeted research and development. Finally, the paper summarizes future work to address open issues across technology, standards, implementations, and deployment.

The rapid adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) services and the increasingly stringent dependability and performance requirements are transforming next-generation wireless network management towards zero-touch 6G networks. Zero-touch management is also particularly attractive in the context of smart industrial production (Industry 5.0) as it allows more autonomous control over all operations without human intervention. However, such a paradigm requires real-time remote monitoring and control throughout the life cycle of all physical entities. Against this backdrop, digital twin is a critical technology for Industry 5.0 and beyond for novel network automation solutions. A digital twin enables fine-grained monitoring, testing and experimentation by providing a model of its physical counterparts. In this regard, we propose a three-layered digital twin framework's architecture to effectively bridge the gap between the physical world and the digital world in zero-touch 6G networks. As a case study, we consider an intelligent digital twin model to detect cyber attacks, such as brute force, web attacks, and DDoS attacks. However, an excessive increase in data volume requires exploratory efforts for efficient and scalable attack detection. In addition, due to the insufficient annotation and imbalanced distribution of classes, challenges are introduced regarding the achievable accuracy. To address these issues, we propose the use of Long Short-Term Memory network (LSTM) with the combination of the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) for attack detection for the new and unseen samples with the assistance of digital twin. We also analyze samples within the cluster and eliminate samples that are somewhere between the clusters and negatively affect the final accuracy by silhouette score. Extensive experiments show that our proposed intelligent digital twin model for attack detection improves the accuracy performance.

This paper presents a method for the development of a sensor' virtual calibration module for agricultural sprayers, i.e., using an Arduino-based architecture, which uses an Atmel Atmega 328 microcontroller, as well as the CAN protocol for communication and data analysis. A set of sensors is present in agricultural spraying systems. They are used to control both the quality of pesticides application and to ensure the reliability of the sprayers' processes. In such context, measurements such as temperature, flow, and pressure, among other variables, are important for the decision making processes. Besides, for such tasks all the sensors must be calibrated, as well as be operating properly. Such module for virtual calibration makes possible to validate the calibration of these sensors in real time, and also allows emulating a direct operation on the sprayers, i.e., allowing to checkup if the sensor's operational procedures are or not correct. In this context, the organization of knowledge and the establishment of an adequate computational semantics for a correct operation of this module present a strategic role, so that users of the agricultural sector can appropriate the technology and use it appropriately.

The domain of 3D medical image segmentation has progressed markedly with the incorporation of deep learning methodologies, offering critical instruments for accurate and quick examination of intricate medical pictures. Various research has created 3D convolutional neural networks (CNNs) designed to segment diverse anatomical and pathological features, tackling specific issues such as high dimensionality, class imbalance, and computing requirements. Innovative models such as DeepMedic, which implemented a multiresolution strategy for brain lesion identification, together with other U-Net adaptations, have attained remarkable outcomes in tumor and organ segmentation through the integration of contextual and spatial data. Recent advancements encompass models employing large-kernel (LK) attention modules, transformer-based architectures, and hybrid approaches such as UNETR++ with Efficient Paired Attention, all enhancing accuracy while optimizing computing efficiency. These developments highlight the potential of 3D deep learning for clinical applications; yet, challenges such as restricted data availability, substantial annotation expenses, and generalizability across varied datasets persist as avenues for additional investigation.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging paradigm in which physical objects are connected to each other and user via the Internet in order to share information between devices and systems. In the IoT environment, smart devices are deployed to monitor, control and analyze business, personal, and social activities. The pervasive nature of the IoT may well be beneficial but it also presents a risk from malware, hacker intrusion, viruses and the like. The consequent security and privacy issues may cause physical damage and even threaten human lives. This paper targets two areas; initially, the paper provides a review of the IoT layered architecture with the security challenges/attacks to setting up an IoT environment. After that, the paper proposes a solution which can preserve the privacy of multimedia data within an IoT environment atits perception layer. The proposed security solution will support the multimedia to function effectively, while at the same time preserving the confidentiality of the information transmitted and the privacy of individuals.

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) have been gaining tremendous attention owing to the advances in wireless technologies accompanied by many applications and implementations. However, there are still a number of issues in MANETs which require further investigations and efficient solutions. Out of these issues, broadcasting in MANETs has been a major problem for both industry and the research community. The broadcast communication is usually required to disseminate a message to all the nodes of a network. This operation is highly required in MANETs to distribute necessary information and ensure efficient control and coordination over the network nodes. However, broadcasting in MANETs is usually susceptible to several challenging communication issues, including, flooding, packets contentions and collisions, i.e., these problems all together are called the Broadcast Storm Problem (BSP). Despite a number of suggested solutions for BSP, the probabilistic scheme is considered the most promising solution due to its simplicity and suitability for MANETs. Under the umbrella of this scheme, many dynamic probabilistic broadcasting algorithms have been proposed in the literature to solve the BSP. However, most of them are not suitable for many applications including those real life scenarios as there are many limitations such as the probability of rebroadcasting operation and thresholds rebroadcasting permission, which is caused by collecting local neighbourhoods' connectivity by broadcasting HELLO packets. In an attempt to enhance and promote the quality of the probabilistic scheme, this paper proposes a new probabilistic approach to overcome these limitations. Our proposed approach is augmented with a well-know ad hoc routing protocols including Ad hoc On demand Distance Victor protocol (AODV).
