With the extensive deployment of traffic cameras across cities, utilizing these devices for vehicle detection has become essential for efficient traffic management. However, variations in vehicle sizes and distances between vehicles and cameras lead to inconsistent scaling of vehicles in the images, which presents a challenge for feature extraction. Furthermore, conventional object detection algorithms fail to fully utilize the rich feature information across multiple layers. To solve these issues, we develop a novel and advanced multi-scale traffic YOLO (MT-YOLO), based on the YOLOv8 model. Firstly, we propose the spatial multi-scale (SMS) attention mechanism to improve the extraction capability of spatial multi-scale vehicle features and aggregate these features for dynamic spatial modulation. Secondly, we develop the multi-scale dilation transposition CARAFE (MDT-CARAFE) upsampling method, which utilizes dilated convolutions to enhance the receptive field at different scales during the upsampling process. Lastly, we augment the network with a detection head and replace the original detection head with the adaptively spatial feature fusion(ASFF) detection head, which dynamically selects and fuses multi-layer feature maps, enabling the network to better capture multi-scale information. Our experiments demonstrate that the MT-YOLO model greatly improves results on the traffic camera detection dataset., achieving an mAP@0.5 of 80.9%, with a precision of 92% and recall of 93%. These results surpass the performance of leading detection algorithms. In addition, the model takes only 12.5 milliseconds to complete an inference, which makes it highly deployable and valuable for real-world applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

digital Signal processing has become a fundamental tool in signal processing applications, such as speech and image processing, due to its ability to manipulate and examine signals in a digital form skillfully. A primary challenge in signal processing involves the presence of unwanted noise and interference, which can negatively impact the precision and quality of the processed signal. The proposed advanced DSP approach aims to improve signal enhancement and interference mitigation techniques using sophisticated algorithms and methods. The proposed state-of-the-art DSP approach includes noise reduction algorithms, such as adaptive filtering and spectral subtraction, to eliminate unwanted noise from the signal. Additionally, cutting-edge signal processing techniques, such as wavelet transforms and time-frequency analysis, are used for signal enhancement and demising. The proposed approach employs adaptive equalization techniques to mitigate interference from other signals and substantially improve the overall signal quality. The enhanced DSP approach is evaluated through simulation and real-world experiments, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving signal quality and reducing interference considerably. The proposed approach has the potential to significantly improve the accuracy and reliability of various signal processing applications considerably, making it a valuable tool in fields such as telecommunications, audio and video processing, and medical signal analysis. © 2025 IEEE.

Channel estimation overhead reduction is one of the main problems for 6G XL-MIMO systems. As the number of antennas and subcarriers grows, so does the overhead of traditional channel estimation methods. High overhead limits user mobility and affects the latency. Most of the popular tensor-based channel estimation algorithms combine reference signals transmission and channel tensor estimation into one problem. Such approach typically imposes limitations on reference signals, making backward-compatibility with existing 5G standard challenging. We propose to separate tensor completion and channel tensor elements estimation into different tasks. We show that tensor completion algorithms from image processing and fMRI scanning can be reused for sub-Nyquist completion of OFDM MIMO tensors to reduce the overhead. Furthermore, we extend one of these algorithms from CPD to Tensor Train (TT) and demonstrate that TT-based algorithm reduces channel estimation error up to 2 times. With the proposed approach other algorithms can be further developed based on tensor completion theory.

Nowadays, technology for biometric authentication technologies is actively implemented, users can usually authenticate themselves by their face, voice, fingerprint, vascular bed of the finger, palm, iris. Using images of sclera vessels for authentication is mathematically and technically more complex, so it is used less often. In addition, existing sclera segmentation algorithms often do not allow ensuring the required quality of authentication systems. The paper proposes an algorithm for sclera segmentation based on the lightweight convolutional neural network Half-UNet, and compares the obtained results with known algorithms for sclera segmentation. Analysis of the obtained results shows that the developed algorithm effectively highlights the eye sclera region, surpassing known modern algorithms, and can be used in implementation of biometric authentication system as a stage of processing scanner images before the sclera vessels segmentation stage.

This paper explores the issue of accurate colour reproduction in medical imaging. It considers key problems and lists standards related to the process of forming and displaying medical images. Particular attention is paid to the fact that the existing standards do not take into account the individual characteristics of colour perception in different doctors. In the conditions of using modern displays with wide colour coverage this can lead to errors in colour rendering for a particular doctor, which, in turn, reduces the accuracy of disease diagnostics. The application of optimal LUT (Look-Up Table) with variable resolution to recalculate the colour space of the display is proposed, which allows to personalise the image for individual features of the doctor's vision and improve the accuracy of diagnosis. Experimental results demonstrating the advantages of the proposed approach over classical colour transform methods are presented. The results confirm that the use of variable resolution LUT can reduce colour rendering errors and improve the quality of medical diagnostics.

This research introduces DeepFakeGuard, a hybrid deep learning framework designed to detect fake profiles on social media platforms, addressing the growing threat of fraudulent accounts online. DeepFakeGuard integrates multiple data modalities, including textual, visual, behavioral, and network features, to accurately classify profiles as real or fake. Leveraging advanced deep learning models such as BERT for textual analysis, ResNet for image processing, and LSTM for modeling behavioral patterns, DeepFakeGuard provides a comprehensive and robust solution for identifying fake profiles across diverse platforms. The framework processes a rich set of profile characteristics, including account information, posting behavior, post sentiment, and network relationships, ensuring a multi-dimensional analysis of social media accounts. The hybrid architecture of DeepFakeGuard merges outputs from individual sub-models, which are then processed through dense layers for final classification using a sigmoid activation function. This multi-faceted approach significantly enhances detection accuracy, precision, and recall compared to traditional methods. The framework is highly scalable and adaptable to various social media platforms, offering a versatile tool for strengthening online security. With strong performance metrics, including high classification accuracy, DeepFakeGuard demonstrates its potential for real-world applications in mitigating the risks associated with fake profiles. By fostering secure and trustworthy social media environments, this research contributes to the ongoing fight against fraudulent accounts, paving the way for safer online interactions. © 2025 IEEE.

Waste is causing a serious environmental problem. Waste management and circular economy offers a best alternative for preserving the environment and protecting nature resources. This paper presents an AI-based system for waste identification and sorting, particularly focusing on plastic, which is the less decomposed waste, using computer vision techniques. The data, used for system validation, comprises publicly available datasets and a locally collected dataset, devoted to plastic classification and detection. Performance metrics demonstrate that YOLOv8 outperforms other deep learning solutions, in real-time waste detection and is well suited for implementation on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. The system outperforms also existing methods in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and speed, and is a promising solution for addressing the global waste management challenge.

Given the significant limitations of current digital twin modeling methods in practical applications, their lack of sufficient generalizability, and the inherent diversity and complexity of real-world objects and environments, digital twin modeling from a single RGB image in unconstrained scenarios faces several maj or challenges. In this paper, we first improve the Segment Anything Model (SAM) and propose the CSAM model, which enables more accurate segmentation of any object. Next, we introduce the Anything-DT Modeling framework, which cleverly integrates the CSAM object segmentation model with a vision-language model to accomplish digital twin modeling tasks using only a single image. The CSAM model can maintain high accuracy and efficiency in complex scenarios, providing high-quality input data for subsequent digital twin modeling. The framework fully utilizes the latest advances in computer vision and natural language processing, providing strong technical support for digital twin modeling, thereby ensuring the feasibility of digital twin modeling from a single RGB image. Compared with existing state-of-the-art methods, the Anything-DT Modeling framework demonstrates its ability to produce detailed and accurate digital twin models for a wide range of objects, showcasing promising potential in overcoming the limitations of current approaches.

In this paper, we propose a novel design methodology for low-cost approximate radix-4 booth multipliers that significantly reduce energy consumption in error-tolerant signal processing applications. Unlike prior works that focus solely on either partial product generation (PPG) or partial product accumulation (PPA), our approach co-designs these units to balance approximation errors, resulting in an internal error mean that is nearly zero. This integration enables substantial energy savings while maintaining comparable accuracy to existing designs. To further enhance energy efficiency, we incorporate a Synthesized-based clock gating technique, reducing unnecessary switching activity in the design. Experimental evaluations on Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering and image classification tasks demonstrate that the proposed multiplier achieves up to 39.3% reduction in total power consumption while maintaining accuracy within an acceptable range for error-tolerant applications. Additionally, delay and area utilisation are reduced by approximately 15.18% and 8.26%, respectively, compared to the existing method. Compared to traditional accurate booth multipliers, our design provides a better trade-off between power efficiency and computational precision, making it a promising alternative for energy-constrained digital signal processing (DSP) systems.

A common operation in many different applications is multiplication. The performance of a multiplier can be increased by using compressors. Approximate multipliers fall under Approximate Computing, a developing approach focused on en-hancing power efficiency, reducing area, and minimizing delay in applications that can tolerate acceptable errors. It also trades off the necessity of exact computation for improved performance. By using this approach, power usage can be reduced in applications in which precision is not given much importance. An efficient 8-bit approximate multiplier design is achieved by introducing a approximate compressor. The experimental results demonstrate substantial improvements in an 8-bit multiplier, reducing total power by up to 28.4% versus exact multipliers and 31.71% versus existing designs while decreasing delay by up to 54.93% and 72.15% respectively. The average accuracy is found to be 97.02%. The results not only reduce the power consumption but also maintain acceptable levels of precision, demonstrating that this is an effective solution for modern image processing and signal processing applications. The findings add to what we already know about approximate computing, which is important for future research and development in creating energy-efficient digital systems.
