A multi-objective search optimization technique is utilized to improve the efficiency of the induction machine design. This technique is referred to as Random restart local search optimization or Hill Climbing based local search optimization (HC aLSO). To create an induction machine with a high efficiency of operation, the preceding technique utilizes repeated explo-rations of the problem space to generate the induction machine data. To build the induction motor, this suggested technique utilizes objective functions from the discrete and continuous hill climbing processes. The new HC-LSO technique is compared to two current algorithms for multi-objective design optimization of induction motors, namely the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) and the Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization (HGAPSO). The suggested HC a LSO technique and other existing techniques are compared using MATLAB simulations. As a result, the suggested technique's performance has an effect on induction machine parameters such as rotor current, power factor, and efficiency. © 2022 IEEE.

Demonstrators, testbeds and learning factories enable researchers to investigate important manufacturing challenges and to trial solutions without disrupting industrial production facilities. In this way, solutions and systems can be developed close to a 'production-ready' state prior to industrial deployment. This paper reviews demonstrators and testbeds developed for smart manufacturing in the last 20 years. A key observation is that such demonstrators have predominantly focused on emulating single or multiple closely connected operations. Such developments reflect the activities of a single production facility and/or organisation. In contrast, there are few reports on demonstrators which seek to replicate the behaviour and challenges associated with multi-site factories or integration with existing legacy factory systems. To address this gap, a multi-operation demonstrator has been created. The demonstrator aims to replicate coordinated production between multiple small manufacturing sites and provides a testbed to investigate operational challenges. The current demonstrator, the research investigated, and the direction of future research proposed are outlined.

The frequency range of terahertz (THz) has shown great promise for optical communication due to its enormous bandwidth and low interference. This review paper provides a thorough analysis of the latest developments and current obstacles in THz optical *** microwave and infrared wavelengths, the terahertz (THz) frequency range has special possibilities for optical communication *** investigates how THz frequencies and optical communication are convergent, emphasising the latter's promise for high-bandwidth, low-latency data transfer. We investigate possible uses of THz optical communication, such as sensing, imaging, and wireless networks, highlighting the revolutionary influence of this new sector on the design of communication systems in the future.

Microinverters are typically integrated with individual solar photovoltaic (Pv) modules to enhance system performance. This paper presents the design and evaluation of an interleaved flyback DC-DC converter for microinverters in a methodical approach. The flyback converter is selected for its advantages, including a reduced component count and a simplified architecture. Additionally, it provides electrical isolation, meeting grid code requirements, and offers high voltage gain, making it suitable for a wide range of input voltages. The time-interleaved operation of the DC-DC flyback stage, utilizing multiple parallel switching phases, effectively reduces ripple current, minimizes component stress, and improves power density. An active clamp circuit is incorporated to recover leakage energy. The operational principles, including all modes of operation, are thoroughly explained. The complete design is presented with relevant mathematical formulations and validated through software simulations. © 2025 IEEE.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) Aeolus satellite was launched on 22 August 2018 from Centre Spatial Guyanais in Kourou, French Guyana. The Aeolus data has been extensively analysed by a number of meteorological centres and found to have a positive impact on NWP forecasts, particularly in the tropics and polar regions. These positive results, along with the successful in-orbit demonstration of the measurement concept and associated technologies utilised on Aeolus, resulted in a statement of interest from EUMETSAT in a future, operational DWL mission in the 2030 to mid-2040's timeframe and a request to ESA to carry out the necessary pre-development activities for such a mission. This paper will describe the current status of instrument predevelopment activities that are being performed in the frame of a potential Aeolus-2 mission. The main inputs for a future Doppler Wind Lidar (DWL) instrument that have been used are: lessons learned from the Aeolus development phases and the in-orbit operations and performance;initial inputs from EUMETSAT including a total mission lifetime of higher than 10-15 years utilizing 2 spacecraft (implying a lifetime of 5.5 years for each) with a launch of the first satellite in 2030, increased robustness and operability of the instrument, and an emphasis on reduction of recurrent costs;the maximum utilization of the demonstrated design heritage;and a number of recommendations for the requirements of a future DWL mission from the Aeolus Scientific Advisory Group (ASAG). These inputs have been collated and combined into a set of preliminary requirements which have been used as the basis for a dedicated Instrument Consolidation Study. An extensive review and trade-off of the above inputs by Airbus Defence & Space, ESA, and independent experts, resulted in the decision to baseline a bi-static instrument design. As of now, the world is focusing on Electric vehicle (Ev) technology in order to meet the future electricity demand. The fuel cell plays an important role in the Ev system for supplying the electricity to the motor. However, the fuel cell gives nonlinear power versus current characteristics. As a result, the peak power supply to the motor is very difficult. In this regard, the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller is interconnected with the fuel cell system for finding the required working point of the proposed system. In this work, a Grey Wolf Controller (GWC) based fuzzy technique is proposed for extracting the peak power of the fuel stack. The features of proposed power point tracking technique are high reliability, good tracking speed, fast convergence, less number of iterations needed to find out the MPP location, high efficient, and good dynamic response. Here, another drawback of fuel cell is low supply voltage which is overcome by using the high voltage gain DC-DC Converter. The features of proposed converter are less current stress on power semiconductor devices, high load current sharing capability, high voltage gain, few load voltage ripples, and good voltage stability. The conversion of existing assets to hydrogen needs to be managed with due diligence. current industry codes such as ASME B31.12 have remained relatively immature in their approach to repurposing and do not yet reflect the rapidly evolving research developments in this areas, for example accounting for the presence of historic defects and damages. This paper proposes a method for pragmatic and safe pipeline repurposing that presents the project with an early screening of major barriers that may potentially compromise repurposing. In line with current industry knowledge, this approach includes the removal of conservatisms associated with some of the design equations given in existing codes i.e. ASME B31.12. The case study provided to illustrate this process is a 20 km 16"pipeline proposed for conversion to hydrogen storage. The overall objective was to define a safe operating envelope within which the capacity of all segments of the vintage pipeline can be maximized. The input data, assumptions made where data was unavailable or incomplete, engineering critical assessment methods and defect compliance criteria, and results are provided. The operating envelope is tested against potential H2 operating cases, and a test and inspection plan proposed to confirm the assumptions made as future work. Conservative decisions in light of open industry gaps are highlighted where applicable. The study provides a clear, documented demonstration of feasibility for hydrogen storage within a specified operating envelope of restricted pressure and pressure cycling before further committing to subsequent repurposing strategy phases. Herein, we designed and simulated the monolithic integration of photo-diode (PD) and transimpedance amplifier (TIA) in CMOS 90 nm technology. In the standard process, a PN-junction structure with an illuminated area of 39.48 μ m × 39.48 μ m was designed as the PD. The breakdown voltage of the PD is -10.5v. At a reverse bias voltage of 3v, the PD has a dark current of 2.6 pA and a capacitance of 1.03 pF. The TIA is composed of a regulated gate cascode circuit, a differential amplifier paralleling with an edge peak generator. The PD and the TIA are monolithically integrated, the overall transimpedance gain is 40.3 dB Ω , and the bandwidth is 4.1 GHz. The integrated design of PD and TIA could be applied in 5 Gb/s optical receivers. © 2023 IEEE.

Seeking a sustainable and ecologically friendly alternative to lead-based solar cells (SCs), this study explores Molyb-denum Diselenide (MoSe2) as a promising absorber material by leveraging its compelling structural, electrical and optical features to improve SC efficiency. Initial analysis via Density Functional Theory (DFT) using CASTEP software revealed MoSe2 's bandgap at 1.22 e v, aligning closely with experimental values. Building upon this fundamental understanding, a novel device architecture is proposed encompassing MoSe2 as the absorber layer, v2O5 as the hole transport layer (HTL), WS2 as the electron transport layer (ETL) and FTO as the transparent conductive oxide (TCO). various parameters, including absorber layer thickness and doping density, parasitic resistance, temperature, back contact and bragg reflector were systematically altered to evaluate their influence on the photovoltaic parameters using SCAPS-ID. This simulation reveals open-circuit voltage (voc) of 0.88 v, short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 42.80 mA/cm2, fill factor (FF) of 85.53 % and an impressive power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 32.01 %. These findings demonstrate MoSe2's potential as a safer and more productive material for solar cell applications, shedding light on ways to optimize solar cell design for better performance. © 2024 IEEE.
