A novel prototype for the generation of square waveform using Second-Generation current Controlled Conveyor (CCCII) is presented and implemented in this manuscript. The proposed topology has a single active device (CCCII) with only three external passive elements, a grounded capacitor and only two resistors. The functional block is devised and tested using Cadence Orcad tool. It gains the advantage of tunability of frequency by means of bias current (Ib) and wide range of tuning is perceived. Supply voltage is fixed at ±2 v. Also the design is experimentally verified exploiting current Feedback Operational Amplifier (AD844AN), Operational Transconductance Amplifier (LM13700) and few passive elements connected externally on a laboratory setup. Both the experimental and simulated results are depicted and matched with the analysis conceded. Elevated merits of the proposed circuit compared favorably with existing models from open literature. Statistical performance of the design is tested with Montecarlo analysis to establish robustness against resistance tolerance of 5%, the parameters such as Mean, variance and standard deviation are evaluated. Also the maximum power dissipation obtained is 1.37mW (simulation-platform) and 9.4m W (experimental-platform). © 2022 IEEE.

In the context of finding a clean and renewable alternative to fossil fuels, able to work both in high and low light intensity conditions, we designed, simulated, and compared in this paper two different types of thin-film solar cells, one based on the perovskite material and the other one with copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS). Although in literature there are lots of research attempts that experimentally developed and tested both perovskite and CIGS solar cells, our paper highlights the possibility of increasing even further the value of the efficiency and also to find new uses in energy harvesting applications. We used the software gpvdm (now called OghmaNano) to obtain the current intensity - voltage (I-v) characteristics and the most important electrical and optical parameters of the cells, that enabled us to perform a comparison between the two proposed solar cells, in two different light intensity conditions: at 1 sun (corresponding to outdoor applications) and at LED (light emitting diode) light intensity (corresponding to indoor conditions). From this comparison, conclusions can be drawn for choosing a better design for energy harvesting applications. © 2023 IEEE.

This study explores the usage of novel oyster mushroom dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) as photosensitizer to substitute the costly chemical dyes with a more eco-friendly, natural alternatives. Utilization of oyster mushroom dye as a natural dye for DSSC is due to their large biomass yield and the fact that they can be cultivated in a regulated environment. Dye from pink oyster mushroom was extracted and dried using freeze-drying methods. Characterization involved I-v measurements for electrical properties, Uv-vis spectrophotometry for optical analysis, and testing using solar simulator for current density-voltage (J-v) characterization. Freeze-dried pink mushroom dyes showed optimal properties for DSSCs, with energy bandgaps of between 1.71 and 2.14 ev The fabricated DSSC performance was determined using a solar simulator, and the fabricated DSSC device exhibited an efficiency of 0.107%.

A magnetoelectric mechanism is presented for extracting power-frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) magnetic field energy of ambient power lines, which can provide power for wireless sensor networks. A detachable NdFeB magnet is used to produce bias magnetic field for the magnetostrictive plate. The employment of the magnetic circuit allows more power-frequency magnetic flux pass through the magnetostrictive plate. When the power cord is energized, the magnetostrictive plate generates a shear stress which transmits to the piezoelectric plate. The piezoelectric plate deforms in shear mode and a voltage is induced. The feasibility of the presented magnetoelectric mechanism was experimentally validated using a fabricated prototype. The experiments were performed and the results show that the output open-circuit voltage depends on the separating distance d. For the current of 10 A and the separating distance d=1.5 mm, the open-circuit RMS voltage reaches 4.39 v, and a power of 14.9 μW is produced with a matching resistive load of 0.65 MΩ. The results show the potential prospect of the magnetoelectric mechanism for power-frequency magnetic field energy harvesting. © 2023 SPIE.

The results of the design of electron-optical systems for electro-vacuum O-type devices designed to operate in the 220 GHz band are presented. The fundamental necessity of taking into account the phase volume of the electron flow at all stages of designing an electron gun and magnetic focusing system is shown. An example is given of designing an EOS with a current of 0.15 A at a voltage of 22400 v in a unipolar magnetic field with an amplitude of 0.45 Gs.

Active optical components are essential building blocks for a wide variety of applications such as optical communications, microscopy, and illumination systems. Reconfigurable metasurfaces, which consist of arrays of sub-wavelength meta-atoms, can be engineered to uniquely realize compact and multifunctional optical elements, enabling light-polarization dynamic-control as well as beam steering, focusing or zooming. varifocal metalenses, in particular, have attracted increasing interests. Yet, going beyond mechanical modulation schemes to realize ultra-thin devices with fast modulation remains challenging due to the complex phase and phase-delay profiles involved. Recently, thermooptical effects in dielectric nanostructures have emerged as a promising solution to tune their optical resonances, offering unexplored opportunities for ultra-thin reconfigurable metalenses, in particular silicon based ones. In this work, we report a proof-of-concept design of an ultrathin (300 nm thick) and thermo-optically reconfigurable silicon metalens operating in the visible regime (632 nm). Importantly, we demonstrate that, using thermo-optical effects, it is possible to achieve continuous modulation of the focal-length at a fixed wavelength. In particular, operating under right-circularly polarized light, our metalens exhibits a linear focal shift from 165 mu m at 20 degrees C to 135 mu m at 260 degrees C, exceeding the lens focal depth. The average conversion efficiency of the lens is 26%, close to mechanically modulated devices, while its Strehl ratio is 0.99, confirming a diffraction-limited performance. Concurrently, in this work we report an automatized methodology to design a reconfigurable metalens, compute its layout and verify the expected performance. Overall, we envision that, by further optimization of the optical response of individual meta-atoms with machine-learning algorithms, thermally-reconfigurable silicon metalenses will emerge as a viable, chip-compatible soluti

One fibre can transmit a combination of a number of optical wavelengths called DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). With the use of laser technology, the bandwidth of current fibre-optic backbones can be increased. It makes it possible for fibre optic networks to simultaneously transmit signals of various wavelengths. Mux/Demux are two integral elements of a DWDM system. In this paper, data will be transmitted and received serially using combinational logics such as multiplexer and decoder (de-mux). Both multiplexer and decoder will be implemented using 2 separate verilog files. One more verilog file will be created to cover up the multiplexer as a transmitter and decoder as a receiver to configure a serial communication system. For the synchronisation purpose, the counter is associated with the circuit. This hybrid design methodology will help in managing design complexity, allowing parallel development and promoting reliability of communication. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel structure for the silicon avalanche photodiode. The structure uses an integrated dark pixel to offset the dark current of the avalanche photo diode, effectively reducing the output noise. The device structure is simulated by software to extract the relevant electrical and optical properties. The results show that the breakdown voltage of the avalanche photodiode is 33.6 v at 300 K, the breakdown current is less than $1\times 10^{-10}\mathrm{A}$ , and the output current values under light and dark conditions at different temperatures differ by at least 5 orders of magnitude. Under 0 v bias voltage, the device exhibits the highest quantum efficiency of 35%, and it has a high response in the wavelength range of 400 ~ 800 nm, with a peak responsivity of 0.14 A/W at 540 nm. In addition, under 6.4v overbias, the avalanche probability in the light-receiving region is the same as that within the integrated dark pixel, the maximum avalanche breakdown probability reaches 83 %, and the peak electric field is about 4.6×105 v/cm.

InGaAs-based p-i-n photo-detectors (PDs) on misoriented Si and conventional Si substrates are both designed, fabricated, and characterized. It is found that the as-grown PD structure on misoriented Si substrate has lower dislocation density than on conventional Si substrate. The PD fabricated on misoriented Si substrate shows a low dark-current of 83nA under −5 v, a zero bias voltage responsivity of 0.58 A/W at 1550 nm, the corresponding quantum efficiency is 46%. The darkcuurent and quantum efficiency at 1550 nm, of the PD on misoriented Si substrate, is about over one orders of magnitude lower and 70% higher respectively, than the comparison PD fabricated on conventional Si substrate. © 2023 SPIE.

A permanent insulator system for hydrometallurgy has been developed with a significant increase in electric efficiency and without short circuits. The system consists of a double electric contact point for each cathode and anode and a new design of the insulating and contact system of the electrodes. The combination of these technologies provides a more uniform electric density inside each cathode and anode, in each cell, and also for the whole electric circuit in the cellhouse. Keeping a consistent maximum performance necessitates using parts with extreme durability against chemical attacks and short circuits. Hence, a comprehensive research into chemical stoichiometry and the behaviour of different molecules resulted in the development of an outstanding chemical resistance level to sulfuric acid and extremely high temperatures throughout the entire hydrometallurgical process. Field observations show that this formulation has been able to resist up to 19 years of continuous operation without maintenance. The goal of these developments combined with a new contact system was to reduce any type of short circuit by 70 to 80%, which in turn increases the electric current effectiveness by 8 to 10%. As a result, higher contact efficiencies have doubled the lifetime of the cathode and anode with this system. Consequently, the overall electric efficiency in a refinery cellhouse can be improved by 10-12%. Observations from real-world applications over the past decades have proven the efficiency of the earlier versions of this new concept. The system was found to be applicable to any type of contact system and has been used in various hydrometallurgical processes with great success. With the increasing price of energy and CO2 production, it has become more important to operate ecologically and efficiently to maximize profitability and this permanent insulator system can address many challenges which lead to a more efficient and cost-effective process. © 2024 Institute of Phys
