This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) fabricated in 110 nm CMOS technology, optimized for photon-counting imaging and LiDAR applications. The SPADs are designed with active region sizes of $5 \mu ~\mathrm{m}, 10 \mu ~\mathrm{m}, 15 \mu ~\mathrm{m}$ , and 20 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ , and feature a retrograde virtual guard-ring (GR) structure to prevent premature edge breakdown. Electrical and optical characteristics, including current-voltage (I-v) curve, dark count rate (DCR), and photon detection probability (PDP), were measured to evaluate the performance of SPADs.

Self-adjusting robots are an excellent approach for keeping up with breakthroughs and developments in advanced mechanics. This idea is based on the basic pendulum theory. A framework goes through a cycle of self-adjustment to reinforce itself from inside. This study intends to overcome the difficulties of stabilizing an unstable structure by supplying the robot with the essential components for self-adjustment and balance. Data from the accelerometer and gyrator are used to compute the robot's accurate three-dimensional location, which is then relayed to a controller. The regulator then uses its own code to legally direct the wheel rotation of the drive module, boosting the robot's stability. This robot has an advantage over others with four wheels since it can spin faster and around obstacles more readily. As a result, it is a necessary tool in many current scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

The liquefaction around marine structures can lead to severe structural failure and the susceptibility of seabed soil to liquefaction at a specific installation site of, e.g., floating offshore wind turbines should be included within the design process and site evaluation. To that end, advanced prediction tools based on numerical modelling can provide valuable insight into the hydro-geotechnical processes. However, due to the complex interaction of the underlying physics, developing a holistic modelling framework for seabed liquefaction is a challenging task. The NuLIMAS research project (Numerical modelling of seabed liquefaction around marine structures) aims at the development of such a numerical model of seabed liquefaction implemented in the OpenFOAM((R)) framework. This paper provides an overview of the NuLIMAS project, laying out the current state of the art of experimental and numerical modelling approaches for seabed liquefaction and presenting some initial results.

Bidirectional onboard chargers play a vital role in electric vehicles (Evs), contributing to smart grid applications by enabling functions such as peak load management and supporting grid stability through frequency and voltage regulation. However, traditional full-bridge dual-active bridge (FBDAB) resonant converters commonly used in these systems face considerable efficiency losses, particularly during reverse power flow and when operating away from their resonant frequency-a condition often caused by fluctuations in battery voltage. To overcome these challenges, this paper presents a bidirectional battery charger based on a CLLC resonant converter with efficient tracking mechanism. The converter's steady-state behavior is analyzed under both grid-to-vehicle (G2v) charging and vehicle-to-grid (v2G) discharging conditions. By maintaining the switching frequency close to the ideal resonant point, this design successfully lowers circulating currents in the resonant tank and transformer, decrease losses in MOSFETs, and limits the rate of current change in the diodes. Simulations comparing this approach to a FBDAB resonant converter with fixed DC demonstrate the enhanced efficiency and superior performance of the proposed system.

This work represents the modeling and simulation of a CZTSe solar cell using the simulation software Silvaco Atlas. This simulation gives prominent results on the electrical and optical behavior of the CZTSe solar cell. In the physical structure of the cell, Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and ZnO were used as the transparent conducting layer and the window layer respectively. The simulation study gives judicious results as open-circuit voltage (voc) of 0.45 v, Short Circuit current Density (Jsc) of 0.044 A/cm2, Fill Factor (FF) of 62.7%, Photon Conversion Efficiency (PCE) of 12.2%. The photon response characteristics of the solar cell validate the External Quantum Efficiency and the spectral response nature. The CANDLE engineering Demonstration Unit (EDU) was selected by the 2022 APRA program to develop and demonstrate the ability to reach the flux accuracy and range required for an artificial flux calibration star. A critical issue in producing accurate and reliable flux calibration is systematic effects;this EDU is providing a path to deploying an artificial star calibration payload outside Earth's atmosphere with SI-traceable calibration that enables accurate throughput characterization of astronomical and earth science observatories in space and on the ground. Such a payload could be carried independently on a dedicated platform such as an orbiting satellite, e.g. the Orbiting Configurable Artificial Star (ORCAS), by a star shade at L2, or some other independent platform to enable accurate end-to-end throughput vs. wavelength calibration that can be measured repeatedly throughout the operational lifetime of an observatory. Once calibrated, the observatory is enabled to carry out astrophysical programs whose science objectives demand high accuracy and/or high precision observations. One specific and immediate application is establishing SI-traceable standard stars beyond the current limited set. We show in this paper the progress made in developing this EDU.

The article demonstrates the brief fabrication method of the flexible organic thin film transistor (OTFT) developed earlier and its utilization for the development of various basic logic gates (NAND, NOR, AND, NOT, and OR Gates). The compact modeling of the fabricated device and the implementation of the logic gates has been carried out using Silvaco-Techmodeler and Silvaco-Gateway tools, respectively. The device can operate at -2 v supply with good electrical characteristics in terms of $-2\mu \mathrm{A}$ drain current, $\mathrm{I}_{\text{ON}}/\mathrm{I}_{\text{OFF}}\sim 10^{3}$ ‘ and $\mu_{p}\sim 0.1\text{cm}^{2}/\mathrm{v}-\sec$ respectively. The Silvaco-Gateway tool implements the logic gates with excellent characteristics, demonstrating logic swing of 1.18 v and a delay of 3.7 ns. The logic gates also possess a good transient characteristic with all four possible logic inputs (00, 01, 10, and 11). The Silvaco-Techmodeler tool models the device with an accuracy of approximately 100%, with a 0.07% and 0.08% error between the experimental and modeled data, respectively. The cost-efficiently fabricated solution-processed transistor in this article can be further utilized in the fields of medical and sensing applications.

gvirtualXray (gvXR) is an open-source framework that relies on the Beer-Lambert law to simulate X-ray images in real time on a graphics processor unit (GPU) using triangular meshes. A wide range of programming languages is supported (C/C++, Python, R, Ruby, Tcl, C#, Java, and GNU Octave). Simulations generated with gvXR have been benchmarked with clinically realistic phantoms (i.e. complex structures and materials) using Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, real radiographs and real digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRRs), and X-ray computed tomography (CT). It has been used in a wide range of applications, including real-time medical simulators, proposing a new densitometric radiographic modality in clinical imaging, studying noise removal techniques in fluoroscopy, teaching particle physics and X-ray imaging to undergraduate students in engineering, and XCT to masters students, predicting image quality and artifacts in material science, etc. gvXR has also been used to produce a high number of realistic simulated images in optimization problems and to train machine learning algorithms. For steam power control of steam turbine, electro-hydraulic servo valve is a necessary component. However, the electro-hydraulic servo valve of steam turbine has a high requirement for the driving ability of the drive circuit, and the ordinary drive circuit cannot meet its requirements. Therefore, this paper designs a driving circuit with greater driving capacity for electro-hydraulic servo valve. The problem of insufficient carrying capacity of OP07 is solved by combining OP07 operational amplifier and push-pull circuit to improve its driving capacity. Taking 0-2.5v input voltage as an example, the optimized driving circuit is designed and simulated. The simulation results show that in the voltage mode, the drive circuit can drive the load with smaller resistance value and output larger current than the common electro-hydraulic servo valve drive circuit, which further improves the drive ability of the electro-hydraulic servo valve drive circuit. © 2023 SPIE.

TBM is famous for its safety and efficiency of tunnel boring, but TBM is also easy to encounter geological disasters in incompetent rock mass with its poor geological adaptability. Unfortunately, due to the shelter from cutterhead and shield, it’s hard to diagnose and identify the quality of rock mass. Based on this, this paper uses the torque penetration index TPI to predict incompetent rock mass, the main steps can be summarized as follows: firstly, we use linear fitting to calculate TPI, secondly, build the prediction model respectively with II-III grade of surrounding rocks and Iv-v grade of surrounding rocks based on neural network, thirdly, predict the current TPI by the TPI of last boring cycles, finally, calculate the predicted torque based on the penetration and predicted TPI, then the incompetent rock mass is quickly identified through the error analysis between actual torque and predicted torque. © 2023 SPIE.
