optically-controlled high-voltage power devices hold good promise for grid and renewable energy applications by providing superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity and reduced switching delay. This paper proposed a novel optically-controlled gate driver architecture that applies complementary optical signals to two photodiodes (PDs) arranged in a totem-pole configuration. This configuration enables fast switching of power semiconductor devices using minimal optical power, as only low-power driver signals are optically modulated and device main current is not photogenerated. To validate this approach, we employ two InGaAs PDs to drive a 3.3 kv SiC MOSFET, the highest-voltage industrial unipolar device currently available. When each PD is illuminated by 21.7 mW optical power, the SiC MOSFET achieves hard-switching at 1500v/3A, with rise and fall times of 152 ns and 214 ns, respectively. These results set new records for switching voltage, speed, and power capacity-to-optical power ratio in optically-controlled unipolar power switches. This general optical driver design is also applicable to the future development of integrated optics for power electronics in diverse (ultra-) wide-bandgap semiconductors.1 © 2025 IEEE.

Modern space applications impose significant challenges to the design of hardware and software platforms. Beyond traditional applications such as avionics, Attitude Orbit Control, and signal/telemetry processing, new developments increasingly leverage Machine Learning models to enhance the autonomy of spacecraft. Such AI-based functional-ities promise significant advantages, but require computing power beyond what can be provided by current on-board platforms. At the same time, the challenge of technological sovereignty requires a move towards open hardware and software. To achieve these objectives, within the KDT ISOLDE project started in 2023, we propose the development of a new family of processors for AI-based applications to be deployed on board of satellites. In this paper, we showcase some examples of space applications with their requirements, and highlight the possible solutions as well as the corresponding work that will be carried out in ISOLDE, and the expected results. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This study presents four universal filter implementations employing second-generation current conveyors designed utilizing bulk-driven technique (BDCCIIs) that enable filter operations at considerably low voltage-supply levels. current-conveyor-based low-and ultra-low-voltage analog signal processing circuits have been rarely investigated. However, they have been subjected to further discussions by design engineers because such modules continue to find wide applications in the emerging fields of portable and wearable electronics, smart environmental monitoring, implantable medical devices, and ambient power harvesting systems. In this study, a detailed circuit analysis of four multi-input single-output (MISO) topologies along with a brief discussion on their component count, tuning feature, and hardware complexity has been discussed. These filters operate at a voltage supply of ± 0.5 v and exhibit all standard filter responses in voltage mode. Furthermore, PSPICE simulation results obtained with 180-nm CMOS TSMC technology illustrate the operability of each application. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

the promising potential of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) for emission-free energy generation has been hindered by notable challenges, including water management, reactant distribution, and mass transport limitations. The flow field, a vital component, aims to efficiently deliver necessary reactants, thereby overcoming these difficulties and improving PEMFC performance. This study delves into the profound influence of a pioneering flow field configuration on PEMFC performance. Three novel designs, namely, FFF1, FFF2, and FFF3, all inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, were examined and contrasted with the baseline serpentine flow field. Results highlight that these innovative Fibonacci-oriented designs have a substantial impact on cell performance at voltages under 0.645 v, while maintaining a minor effect at voltages above this threshold. Remarkably, the application of these configurations significantly bolstered the ohmic polarization region. The novel configurations yielded pronounced improvements in peak power density. Upgrades were observed in FFF1, FFF2, and FFF3 at 28.04%, 4.82%, and 20.3%, respectively. Furthermore, these Fibonacci-inspired designs commenced concentration losses at superior current densities (1.05, 1, and 1.01 A/cm2 for FFF1, FFF2, and FFF3, respectively) compared to the standard 0.97 A/cm2 observed for the serpentine flow field. Among the new designs, the initial Fibonacci-based configuration (FFF1) outperformed the others, positioning itself as the optimal design. This research sets a new benchmark for future PEMFC development and optimization.

Perovskite-based solar cells (PSCs) are revolutionizing photovoltaics with elevated power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and cost-effective manufacturing. However, lead-based PSCs pose environmental and health risks, emphasizing the need for lead-free alternatives. This study proposes a novel lead-free PSC architecture with Glass/FTO/WS 2 /CsSnI 3 /NiO layers. At the core of this design is CsSnI 3 , a non-toxic perovskite with excellent optical properties, making it an ideal replacement for lead-based materials. In this design, WS 2 , as the electron transport layer (ETL), provides enhanced mobility of electrons and a wide bandgap to improve charge transport, and NiO, as the hole transport layer (HTL), ensures efficient hole extraction. SCAPS-1D was applied to model and analyze the device’s performance. The thickness and defect density parameters of the ETL, HTL, and absorber layers, together with interface defects, were optimized to assess their influence on the solar device’s performance. The simulation results demonstrate the highest PCE of 31.42%, with a fill factor (FF) of 87.90%, an open-circuit voltage (v OC ) of 1.0253 v, and a short-circuit current density (J SC ) of 34.859 mA/cm 2 . These findings suggest the potential to create efficient, sustainable, and affordable solar cells that contribute to a greener future.

developments in 5G networks, the Internet of Things, and aerial radiating in GHz high-frequency spectrum areas are underway. This work uses the Defective Ground Structure (DGS) approach to integrate and analyze several octagonal micro strip patches parametrically. The suggested antenna has dimensions of 28 mm for width and 32 mm for length, with a 1.57 mm height and RT duroid 5880 substrate used as the dielectric material. Investigate different design iterations, keeping in mind that the DGS approach and many octagon-shaped patches yield the best outcomes for this proposed design structure. The value of the return loss (S11) parameter is examined. At 30.87 GHz, the voltage standing wave ratio (vSWR) is 1.19 and the peak gain is 23.69 dB. The distributions of current, electric field, and input impedance at 50Ω are observed. X, Ku, K, Ka, v bands applications can greatly benefit from the projected antenna.

This paper presents an optical receiver designed to match multiple core optical fiber, implemented in a 0.18 $\mu\mathrm{m}$ CMOS process. The chip consists of a photodiode (PD) array and transimpedance (TIA) circuits, including the TIA core, Bandgap (BG) and Bias. The placement of PD array is highly matched with the multiple core optical fiber and each PD is followed by a TIA. The TIA achieves a 60 dB ohm transimpedance gain with a 200 MHz bandwidth and the input reference current noise is $7.2 \text{pA} / \sqrt{ } \text{Hz}$ . The BG can stably output a 1.2 v voltage and shows a good stability in the post simulation under 128 process corners. The Bias can provide the current required to drive TIA through a mirror transistor. Eye diagrams are shown when operating at bit rates of 200 M bps and 300 M bps with a forward input reference voltage of 1.2 v. While achieving high transmission efficiency, the chip area is only $0.78\times 0.92$ mm2 which allows for more compact designs and suit for a wide range of application scenarios.

High-gain and low-power operation is prime requirement of transimpedance amplifier(TIA) for low current sensing applications. However, achieving high gain of TIA is crucial task using CMOS devices owing to limitation of noisepower budget. This research study has proposed an integrator-differentiator based TIA targeted for nano-pore current sensing which is implemented in 0.18 $\mu$m technology. The proposed circuit emulates a gain of 184.17 dB$\Omega$, input referred current noise of5.79 nA, bandwidth of10.18 kHz and power dissipation of S7.30 $\mu$W at ± 0.9 v. The proposed TIA can also be used in various other applications like spectroscopy, electrophysiology and optical fiber communication.
