In this paper, an optoelectronics transmitter and receiver chipset is designed and implemented for automotive wired network using 0.5-¿m CMOS technology. In fiber optic transmitter (FOT), modulation current has to be arranged in 3 to 4-mA to meet eye protection regulations in visible red wavelength (650-nm). To apply for low cost POF applications, simple and low cost FOT is proposed. FOT is designed to operate at 50-Mb/s bit rates and consumes only 6-mA DC currents including modulation current of 3.5-mA. In the receiver side, two methods of auto-threshold control technique will be introduced and compared. The designed fiber optic receiver (FOR) achieves trans-impedance gain of 145-dB ¿, 50-Mb/s operations with 45-MHz bandwidth for 4-pF photodiode parasitic capacitance. And proposed fiber optic receiver guarantees digital level output swing against the range of incident photo current from 200-nA to 25-uA and the range of operating frequency from DC to 50-Mb/s. Receiver chipset consumes only 10-mW from a 3.3-v single supply.

For material removal in rotor balancing machines, dry Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) with large working gap is an advantageous alternative to the common mechanical drilling, grinding or laser drilling. This paper presents a novel topology of a power supply required for such an application. It has an increased ignition voltage capability of up to 10 kv compared to standard power supplies with only 300 v, which allows for an increase in working gap distance to millimeters. The control of the current pulse amplitude and length are described. voltage and current measurements verify the design considerations prove the feasibility of the proposed power supply.

LED can not only improve the quality and efficiency of light, but also save energy and reduce environmental pollution. Developing LED industry has great significance for the national economy and the people's livelihood. In the paper, main methods for fabricating white LED and recent progresses in white LED are studied. And then, a novel single-chip white InGaN/GaN LED is designed. Fanally, the I-v characteristics and optical characteristics of the LEDs are analyzed. Turn-on voltage of the single-chip white light LED is 2.7v and reverse leakage current is 0.18mA at reverse-bias voltage of *** single-chip white LED emits white light as the injection current is from 5mA to 60mA.

This paper describes the design and performance of a 10-Gb/s optical receiver front-end fabricated in a 0.13-μm CMOS technology. To realize a wide bandwidth transimpedance amplifier (TIA) that has large input parasitic capacitance, an area-efficient stacked spiral transformer is implemented. By using a capacitance multiplication technique, the baseline wander resulting from a current offset cancellation is minimized. The TIA achieves a transimpedance gain of 58.5dBΩ, an area of 0.02mm 2 , and a bandwidth of 7.9GHz. The limiting amplifiers (LAs) following the TIA use negative impedance converters to enhance the bandwidth. The TIA and the LAs consume 5mW and 28.4mW, respectively with a supply voltage of 1.2v.

This paper studies the necessary and sufficient nonblocking conditions for multicast Clos network or v(m, n 1 , r 1 , n 2 , r 2 ) network, wherein there are r 1 /r 2 switch modules at first/third stage, n 1 input/n 2 output ports on each first/third stage switch module, and m central stage modules. We prove that given constant n 1 , n 2 , if r 1 ≥ L = n 2 (( n 2 -1 m )-1)+1, r 2 ≥ n 1 n2 ( n 2 L ), m ≥ n 1 n 2 is a necessary and sufficient nonblocking condition. Analogy to point-to-point Clos network, this result is independent of r 1 ,r 2 and improves on the current best sufficient condition at the given region. We also present a wide-sense nonblocking routing algorithm for satisfying each input multicast call.

To solve the problem of the original investment hedge when the fieldbus control system (FCS) substitute the distributed control system (DCS), we design a low-power intelligent pressure transmitter which is compatible with analog signals and digital signals. The pressure transmitter is designed based on HART protocol and composed with MCU module, sensor module, HART communication module, LCD modules and power supply module. The digital signal will be converted into the digital audio signal through the v/I circuit in the design, superimposing on the current loop and realizing the compatible with digital signal and analog signal, at the same time, non-interfering. The total operating current of the entire circuit is no more than 2.1mA, guaranting the low-power requirement. By testing, the intelligent pressure transmitter can be connected with any manual control device or control system which are agreed with HART protocol, and the measurement accuracy has reached the requirement of 0.2%FS.

High power LEDs for lighting application can be implemented with dies. Multiple LEDs are usually connected in series to sustain high power supply voltage like AC 110v due to low LED forward voltage. AC-DC converter is often required for LED arrays working under an AC power supply. But the AC-DC converter brings power consumption overhead and degrades the overall system efficiency as much as 15%. In this work, a high power ceramic COB (Chip On Board) LED array packaging technology capable of working under AC 110v is developed. A total of 40 LEDs are used in the ceramic COB LEDs array to allow it work directly under AC 110v power supply. A special powering method is designed and dedicated to the COB LED array. The special powering method ensures both high light output and high LEDs array reliability especially under supply voltage variations. The measured COB LEDs current vs. AC supply voltage variation is shown in Fig.1 An extremely high driving efficiency (>98%) at the max power and a high power factor are achieved due to the elimination of the AC-DC converter. The electrical efficiency over LEDs forward current is plotted in Fig.2. The structure and top view of COB LED packaging is shown in Fig.3 and Fig.4. The COB package dimension is 68mm by 28mm. With 150mA LEDs forward current, the measured total power is 20W. The max LEDs forward current for this design is 700mA and the max power is 95W. The cross section of the PCB design is shown in Fig.5. Since AC-DC converter reliability is becoming the bottleneck of the high power LED lighting system, the presented ceramic COB LEDs array package with the special powering circuit reliability is enhanced due to the elimination of AC-DC converter. The system reliability is performed and shown in Fig.6. There is no performance degradation of both the ceramic COB LED and control circuit for 1000 hours. Long term reliability test of the system is still under testing and will be presented.

According to the principle of the laser diode (LD) power supply, this paper uses the chip-MAX797 as a stabilized driven-current source to design the circuit. And the output current of the source can reach 4 A, its output voltage can be adjustable between 2.5v and 6v. The efficiency of the drive circuit is up to 96%, and the shutdown current is only 1 mu A. Then make the necessary analysis about the design of the circuit. The whole circuit diagram is made up of three parts which there are an invariable driven-current source, a programmable soft-start circuit and a protection circuit of the over current and the restrained ripple. The adapter supplies the input voltage which is between 4.5v and 30v. And it adds a resistance to limit the current of the LD at last. The theory of this circuit's design is simple, and the function is as much as the conventional, but its size is smaller than the conventional driven-current source. Then summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the soft-start circuit between this paper and the traditional, and corresponding to analysis of the components selecting, it used the preferred components in the design of the circuit. Finally, there is a summary and expectation in high-power laser diode power supply design in the future.

optical detectors for illumination measurements have the known photopic response v(λ), which is implemented with the help of colored glass filters attached to silicon detectors. In the case of high precision photometry the filter of each detector is hand prepared and the spectral response measured until it is matched to the function v(λ). This method takes a long time and the precision is limited. In this work we propose an optical method to implement holographic lens with predefined spectral selection, this method permits to make the optical design of the hologram when the spectral response of the silicon detector is known. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for optical engineering.

IP traffic has been growing every year, bringing the need for deploying an IP backbone interconnected by links provided by the transport network. Thus, network operators have had traditionally divided their core network in two, the IP network and the transport network. Network planning and engineering tasks have been performed independently in both domains. Traditionally, the transport network has been quite inflexible, and changes have often required a long time to occur. However, recent developments in the control plane allow flexibility in the transport network, making it possible to set up and tear down circuits on demand. In this light, multilayer traffic engineering has been proposed to jointly manage both IP and transport layers, with the aim of optimizing the use of resources. This paper aims to describe the rationale behind multilayer traffic engineering, demonstrate its feasibility and quantify its advantages in terms of cost effectiveness. Also, this work takes a look at the different choices in performing the multilayer operation, in terms of control plane implementation and equipment integration. Finally, the paper presents a report on multilayer traffic engineer experimentation which proves its feasibility and show a preliminary techno-economic case study of the multilayer operation.
