Rapid data and multimedia services growth among users has increased the need for high-speed communication systems that can cover a wide global area. This study proposes an inter-satellite optical wireless communication (ISOWC) system with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques that operate at a speed of 2 Gbps with a wavelength of 850 nm. This study aims to assemble and simulate a series of ISOWC, MIMO ISOWC, WDM ISOWC, and WDM-MIMO ISOWC systems to see which system performs better. The simulation results show that WDM-MIMO on the ISOWC system performs well, with a BER of 2.79777x10(-151) and a maximum Q-factor of 26.17120. This study also evaluates MIMO 2 x 2, 4 x 4, 8 x 8, and 16 x 16 on the ISOWC system. It was concluded that the higher the number of MIMO channels provided, the better BER with the maximum Q-factor.

Requirements elicitation is a crucial phase in Requirements engineering, laying the foundation for the system design process. Gathering requirements entails employing structured methods to understand the specific requests of the stakeholders involved. Given the intricate multi-domain nature of mechatronic systems and the increasing customer expectations, establishing robust foundations during the requirements elicitation phase becomes imperative. Two widely adopted methods for requirements elicitation, namely the House of Quality (HoQ) and Black Box Analysis (BBA), are separately applied to a case study involving an automatic parking gate. The system is then designed using the RFLP (Requirements - Functional - Logical - Physical) approach for mechatronic systemsdesign. An integrated proposal combining both methods is then presented and applied to the same case study. The aim is to address each method's limitations and improve the requirements elicitation process to generate a comprehensive list of requirements that considers customer needs and essential system functionalities. The subsequent re-application of the RFLP process highlighted the enhancements facilitated by the integrated application of both methods.

In today's digital economy, organisations build software systems to support their Collaborative Business Processes (CBPs). Building such systems is a diligent and time-consuming task that requires both business and technical skills. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) offers design principals based on the service concept to help align CBPs with their supporting systems while helping organisations achieve their business goals. This paper aims to design a model-driven method that bridges the gap between CBPs and the systems that support them. Its objective is two-fold: i) design SOA-based software solutions that support CBPs expressed in BPMN and ii) build a set of goal models that link each service to the collaborative activity it automates and the business goals it satisfies.

Quartus engineering Incorporated (Quartus) has been working with NASA LaRC to develop an approach to accelerate the development of spaceborne custom precision optical payloads, leveraging analytical models and existing opto-mechanical designs to provide a shift in the development of space-based opticalsystems for deployment on CubeSats and small satellite platforms. With this approach, science missions can focus budgets and staff on the instrumentation they need to complete their specific objectives and spend less time and money on the development of one-off designs. This approach could lead to rapid TRL progression for science missions that utilize validated components or subassemblies, saving significant cost and schedule by reducing or eliminating the needs for ground unit testing and validation, thus significantly reducing time to mature a program’s TRL from 2 to 6. Using the SAGE IV Pathfinder telescope as the subject, the SBIR Phase I focused on analysis correlation at the component level, while the SBIR Phase ii focused on analysis correlation at the system level. The Phase ii system level design used a 3-mirror telescope derived from the LaRC SAGE IV instrument design. The accuracy and repeatability of the Wavefront error (WFE) measurement process over temperature was reviewed. The Phase ii-E work builds upon the component level and system level testing to date by further developing the structural analysis validation with gathered material test data and random vibration testing for launch loads. Material test data, along with pre-test FEM results are reviewed. The Phase ii-E effort is scheduled to conclude in November 2023. The testing done under this SBIR continues to push a paradigm shift in telescope and optical system development. As the 2017 decadal survey [1] pointed out, it is important for the science community to find ways to make limited resources go further. With validation of these test and analysis tools, the science community can begin to expl

This paper discusses the detection and diagnosis of sensor and actuator faults with input and output disturbance in two-dimensional linear systems described by the Fornasini-Marchesini second model. It can be rewritten as a new state variable by augmentation of the sensor fault in the output measurement equation with the state variable. The augmented equation can be rewritten as a descriptor system to estimate the state variables of the new system with actuator faults, and then the design of a new unknown input observer is proposed. This allows the errors of the new state variables and actuator faults to be estimated. The asymptotic stability conditions of the dynamic error of the observer are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A practical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
