Micro- to nano-scale additive manufacturing has enabled the realization of 3D microstructures at sub-micron resolution for complex miniaturized optical and mechanical systems. There is a growing demand for integrable technologies and miniaturization in applications from biomedical diagnostics and environmental sensing to high-precision industrial tasks. The ability to rapidly prototype facilitates the development of custom-tailored components for such specialized applications. This paper presents three case studies highlighting developments utilizing two-photon direct laser writing (TP-DLW). Robotic Process Automation (RPA) can minimize human errors, improve efficiency, and create a seamless operational environment in the healthcare industry. This paper examines the existing radiology imaging requisition system, which requires human labourers to perform medical request processing and classification. To improve this slow, error-prone, and hard-to-scale process, we design an RPA approach that significantly improves efficiency. The proposed RPA-based system consists of automatic fax forwarding, optical character recognition (OCR), form classification, and auto file storage. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed RPA approaches have much faster processing speed (94% reduced), much lower cost (98.4% reduced), easier scaling and increased error-handling efficiency.
