This paper discusses the NASA New Frontiers Dragonfly mission requirements management plan and how it has evolved from program kickoff to Mission Preliminary design Review (PDR). The changes were based on reviewer and team member feedback, lessons learned on the Dragonfly project, plus lessons learned from other projects such as Parker Solar Probe (PSP), Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), and Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP). It concludes with the planned requirements management adjustments as the project progresses to Critical design Review (CDR). The first revision of the requirements management plan was written using the methodology of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory's (JHU/APL) Quality Management System (QMS), incorporating lessons learned from PSP and DART missions. Between the Independent System Requirements Review (SRR) and Mission Preliminary design Review the plan and approach were modified to better serve the needs of the project. Areas of the plan with the most changes included the requirements schema, the process for using the requirements management tool, and the engagement with the change control board. The requirements schema has been updated to include sublevels to allow for exceptions due to subsystems fulfilling both science and mobility requirements and to support science requirements flowing to instruments. The trade study selected requirements management tool has since been configured and informally integrated to allow secure access for partners and vendors, extension of functionality with scripting, and integration with a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tool to prepare analyses for requirements owners. As the project lifecycle progressed and Preliminary design Review approached, use of a change control board process was phased in by requirement level to align stakeholders on the changes and determine their full impact up and down the requirements hierarchy. Effectively incorporating community input into civic decision-making processes is crucial for fostering inclusive governance. However, public officials often face challenges in formulating effective questions to gather meaningful insights due to constraints such as time, resources, and limited experience in questionnaire design. This paper explores the potential of leveraging large language models (LLMs) to address this challenge. We present Coalesce, a novel mixed-initiative system that utilizes LLMs to assist civic leaders in crafting tailored and impactful questions for surveys, interviews, and conversation guides. Guided by best practices in questionnaire design, Coalesce improves question readability, enhances specificity, and reduces bias. To inform our design, we conducted a formative interview study with 30 civic leaders and implemented an iterative human-centered design process involving 14 feedback sessions. We built a fully-functional system before evaluating it through a real-world user study with 16 participants who applied the platform to their own community engagement projects. Our findings show that Coalesce improved participants' confidence in questionnaire design, supported diverse workflows, and fostered learning while raising important questions about human agency and over-reliance on AI. These insights highlight the potential for intelligent user interfaces to reshape how civic leaders engage with their communities, fostering more informed and inclusive decision-making processes. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The integration of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies is transforming various society sectors, and particularly the manufacturing sector, promoting a digital transformation that fosters smart and interconnected systems. The Digital Twin (DT) acts as a key component in the digital transformation landscape and its integration with I4.0 technologies paves the way for the implementation of Zero Defect Manufacturing strategies. A spotlight on the automotive industry underscores the power of DT applications for real-time defect detection and improvement of product quality and process efficiency. However, the proper DT implementation, contributing to their integration and interoperability, requires the compliance with standards and reference architectures. Having this in mind, this paper describes the design of a DT architecture compliant with the ISO 23247 standard and aligned with the RAMI 4.0 to cover the dimensional measurement process comprising inspection stations placed in the body shop area of an automotive assembly line. This implementation enables the real-time and early identification of defects along the assembly process, allowing to prevent their occurrence at a single stage and their propagation to downstream processes.

3D integration of dissimilar wafers through metal interconnect hybrid bonding has become common practice in industry from CMOS image sensors to 3D NAND memory at >1 mu m pitches. Advanced 3D integration nodes requiring pitch scaling to sub-0.5 mu m face significant challenges in process control and material limitations. In this paper, through the use of advanced 300mm toolsets and process innovations we study the importance layout design, bonding dielectric, copper CMP recess control, and bonding overlay control to produce a high-quality bond interface at sub-500nm pitches. We also examined at which copper design density the material system begins to fail.

The development of design patterns with adaptive user interfaces using deep learning provides an innovative solution to address the demands of modern software systems. The design patterns play an essential role in obtaining scalability and reliability in the systems. The various challenges in the architectural designs and automatic decision-making techniques are attained through the aid of Adam optimization techniques integrated with the Internet of Things. through the process of integration with an adaptive user interface, the changing user needs are monitored by the system. The deep learning techniques help to automatically adapt and optimize itself without any external parameters. This helps to analyze the user interactions and to promote system efficiency with an enhanced performance ratio. The generation of constant streams of data is obtained through the Internet of Things. The real-time decisions are adopted by analyzing the user behaviour. The Adam optimization techniques are well-known for the training of neural networks. This helps to maintain and adopt fine-tuning of the system and maintaining optimum performance. Thus the integration of deep learning with cloud-native microstructure architecture provides self-optimizing networks for each user in the dynamic nature of the IoT data in real-time environments. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper introduces a graph neural network (GNN) approach to modeling microwave circuits for power amplifier (PA) design. By mapping matching circuit features to graphs, GNNs capture complex component relationships and predict circuit behavior. The proposed method consists of data labeling through simulations and GNN model training. Experiments demonstrate high accuracy in predicting circuit behavior compared to classical multilayer perception (MLP) models. The practical applicability of the proposed GNN model is showcased through integration into an optimization process for PA matching network design. This work promotes the adoption of machine learning (ML) techniques in microwave circuit modeling and design optimization.

The work in progress on aerospace and aviation education calls for peer-to-peer interactions and the improvement of project design using data methods using technology integration. The field of aerospace and aviation education is currently undergoing progress and requires peer-to-peer interactions and the utilization of data methods with technology integration to improve project design. This study involves undergraduate students in engineering and aviation sciences who are exploring the design of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for advancement. The investigation aims to examine the limitations of peer-to-peer interaction using project-based learning methods and offers insight into student capabilities, resources, interest, and connection to course learning outcomes. through this investigation, the students gained an understanding of the design approach and the integration of UAS, which led to the discovery of the critical need for safety management systems (SMS) and human factors. This, in turn, added to the design process by emphasizing the importance of utilizing SMS and human factors to create awareness of integration challenges and advance technology. The peer-to-peer environments created an understanding that user-friendly design concepts are essential to engineering and aviation education, which is a multidisciplinary effort. To integrate UAS technology into aerospace design, the ability to achieve and maintain a level of security, safety, technology readiness, acceptability, regulatory demands of the mission practice, and management of systems must be considered. In adopting the SMS approach, which was explored through peer-to-peer interactions of project-based learning, the performance measures of system requirements were assessed and established in accordance with standard operations, procedures, and risk mitigation. Recent advancements in AI, particularly those focused on replicating creativity, have sparked ongoing discussions about their impact on the role of designers. This paper presents the findings from qualitative interviews with 17 design professionals focused on strategic design work, exploring their perceptions and experiences with AI tools, as well as their views on how their roles may evolve in the future. The results highlight the diverse ways in which designers are leveraging AI in their work as well as the resulting impact on their roles, emphasizing the continued significance of expert human designers in steering development toward meaningful outcomes. As the landscape of wireless communication continues to rapidly evolve, the demand for compact, lightweight, and multi-band antennas has become increasingly prominent. These antennas offer the potential to achieve comparable performance to larger counterparts while possessing specific attributes such as light weight, small size, affordability, and seamless system integration. This paper addresses these requirements through the development and evaluation of a compact microstrip patch antenna operating within the frequency range of 2.1 GHz to 6 GHz. The antenna design process leverages the capabilities of HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) for precise modelling and optimization. through modifications to a standard microstrip patch antenna, a compact form factor is achieved without compromising its operational capabilities. The antenna's performance is rigorously analyzed across a range of metrics including return loss, impedance, gain, polarization, radiation pattern, and voltage-to-wave ratio (VSWR).The simulation results of the designed antenna align closely with the performance measurements obtained from the fabricated prototype. This concurrence underscores the effectiveness of the design methodology and confirms the antenna's ability to meet the intended operational specifications. The compact antenna's performance within the 2.1 GHz to 6 GHz frequency band showcases its viability for modern wireless communication applications, contributing to the growing demand for efficient and versatile antenna solutions. through this research, the potential of compact antennas to cater to the demands of wireless communication is demonstrated, emphasizing the importance of efficient design, accurate simulation, and successful real-world implementation.
