This article explores an augmented reality (AR) application for interior design, leveraging advancements in technology. With the increasing integration of virtual information into construction practices, the conventional method of purchasing furniture in physical stores becomes challenging for individuals with limited time. The traditional furniture products lack interaction with users, comprising static text and images. This study proposes a novel approach to interior design utilizing character-based AR. In this AR environment, users can choose furniture from a diverse range of options and visualize it within their actual surroundings. Furthermore, users have the capability to make real-time adjustments to the virtual furniture on the screen, facilitating interaction with the furniture in a simulated real environment. This innovative method aims to provide users with a clear perspective on furniture placement, streamlining the interior design process and ultimately saving time and effort. © 2024 IEEE.

This innovative practice full paper proposes Creator-Thon, a novel teaching project designed to introduce Generative AI into traditional interior design workflows. The project adopts an interdisciplinary approach including application scenario investigation, workflow construction, collaborative innovation, and iterative optimization. The underlying research is grounded in a six-level goal hierarchy, comprising sub-goals of integrating AI capabilities and design knowledge, embedding AI skills into workflows, enhancing the learning engagement, empowering personal career development, fostering (human-AI and human-human) collaboration, and transforming the design paradigms. The teaching framework is progressively refined across multiple iterations, enhancing learning engagement by simplifying tool operations, refining design language, and re-engineering the design process. The findings underscore that integration of authentic application scenarios markedly boosts engagement and motivation among learners, modular instruction also enhances teaching quality and practical skills, and the adaptive optimization of the teaching framework informed by participants' feedback, is key to a successful Generative AI involved interior design pedagogy. This work provides insights that contribute to the application of Generative AI technology in interior design education and practice, facilitating transformations and progress in AI literacy in the field. © 2024 IEEE.

It has been increasingly recognized that effective human-AI co-creation requires more than prompts and results, but an environment with empowering structures that facilitate exploration, planning, iteration, as well as control and inspection of AI generation. Yet, a concrete design approach to such an environment has not been established. Our literature analysis highlights that compositional structures - which organize and visualize individual elements into meaningful wholes - are highly effective in granting creators control over the essential aspects of their content. However, efficiently aggregating and connecting these structures to support the full creation process remains challenging. We, therefore, propose a design approach of leveraging compositional structures as the substrates and infusing AI within and across these structures to enable a controlled and fluid creation process. We evaluate this approach through a case study of developing a video co-creation environment using this approach. User evaluation shows that such an environment allowed users to stay oriented in their creation activity, remain aware and in control of AI's generation, and enable flexible human-AI collaborative workflows. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

This paper focuses on the field of educational games targeting children aged three to six, exploring the application of hologram in interactive card game design. It first examines the potential applications of holography in children's education, emphasizing the crucial role of interactive games in promoting children's cognitive development. Furthermore, the paper elaborates on the core principles of game design, including educational value, interactivity, entertainment, and safety, while highlighting the importance of considering children's psychological and cognitive characteristics in the design process. This study demonstrates the integration of hologram with children's educational games by introducing interactive mechanisms, visual design, narrative techniques, and educational objectives, creating game content that is both educational and entertaining. through preliminary user testing, feedback was collected from child users and the game's impact on their cognitive abilities, creativity, and problem-solving skills was evaluated, with results supporting the potential of games in promoting children's development. Finally, the paper provides prospects for the future development of holographic interactive card games and proposes further design improvements and research directions based on testing feedback, aiming to bring innovative educational tools to the field of children's educational games. © 2025 SPIE.

In this paper, the application of robot technology to welding engineering in automotive industry is studied. Based on the research and analysis of the relationship between the robot body and its external equipment and the actual production, through the process of hardware integration and path planning, the fixture system and motion command modules of the robot integration platform are developed, and the design and construction of the whole robot system platform is completed. The feasibility of the scheme is verified by actual project research and development. Practice has proved that it is feasible to apply the robot system platform to the automotive welding engineering process, which can improve the production efficiency and management efficiency, improve the welding precision and production stability. The method and practice of robot system integration in this paper can be used for the integration of general industrial process systems of general robots, and can provide reference for the development and construction of industrial robot systems. © 2024 SPIE.

With the rapid evolution of technology, artificial intelligence has gradually permeated every aspect of our lives, not least in the field of artistic design. In recent years, image style transfer algorithms, as a form of artificial intelligence technology, have garnered widespread attention in the realm of artistic design, particularly in the domain of packaging design. These algorithms can take the style of one piece of artwork, process it through a model, and subsequently apply it to another piece of artwork, infusing the field of packaging design with new vitality through unique creativity and visual effects. This paper will use the design of condom packaging as an example, aiming to design a condom package that conforms to the current aesthetic preferences of domestic college students under the integration of image style transfer algorithms and packaging design. At present, AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases are spreading widely among college students, and the reasonable and safe use of condoms is the most effective and direct prevention method. By improving the design of condom packaging, the usage rate of condoms among domestic college students can be increased, thereby reducing the risk of transmission of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. through the style transfer algorithm, the main images, graphics, and text of the condom packaging are creatively processed and redesigned to meet the current aesthetic preferences of domestic college students and increase their purchase intention and usage frequency. The combination of condom packaging design and artificial intelligence can not only increase the usage rate of condoms in the future, thereby preventing the spread of diseases, but also enhance the practicality and market value of condom packaging, bringing more business opportunities and profits to manufacturers and sellers. © 2024 SPIE.

This research investigates the integrated application of deep learning technologies in the field of emotion-driven interior soft decoration product design. through comprehensive online surveys conducted with over 1000 participants and coupled with biometric feedback from 300 individuals, this study offers a multi-faceted analysis of user emotions during interactions with interior soft decoration products. The employment of a finely-tuned Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model facilitated the extraction of key emotional design elements, indicating that around 520 of the surveyed participants were satisfied with certain interior soft decoration designs, while a minority of 80 expressed dissatisfaction. Moreover, the biometric data revealed a significant correlation between increased heart rates (exceeding 85 beats per minute) and intense emotional responses. The integration of biometric and questionnaire textual data suggested that users indeed experienced strong positive emotions in interactions with specific soft decoration products. The study also addresses potential challenges, including possible biases in data collection and the inherent limitations of deep learning models. The findings underscore the significant potential of deep learning in capturing the complex patterns of user emotions, providing valuable insights for the future design of emotion-centric interior soft decoration products. through this interdisciplinary approach, the study charts a promising direction for the advancement of artistic disciplines such as interior design and soft decoration product design, emphasizing the importance of understanding and incorporating user emotion in the design process. © 2024 IEEE.

Reflective learning is an acknowledged and effective mode of acquiring knowledge in every domain. Ongoing studies indicate that digital games possess reflective characteristics that offer experiential learning, creating an immersive and secure environment for stealth learning. Such games empower learners to autonomously identify, explore, fail, and retry, fostering a dynamic learning process. The fundamental game elements such as user interface (UI), head-up displays (HUDs), maps, prompt messages, and social interactions inherently embody reflective attributes. This inherent reflective nature within digital games contributes to the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and motivation, seamlessly aligning with the fundamental principles of reflective learning. This research investigates the incorporation of Reflective Game design (RGD) within digital game-based learning (GBL) and assesses its impact on learning outcomes. The primary objective of the study was to comprehensively examine and quantify the educational influence of RGD in achieving learning objectives, enhancing the overall learning experience, and improving retention rates, in comparison to non-RGD game design. Therefore, two digital prototypes were developed as part of this study: one featuring explicit integration of reflective learning, referred to as RGD design, and the other without RGD design, termed non-RGD. In order to assess the learning, a study was conducted that revealed substantial positive results through a comparative analysis of two groups: the experimental group (N=69), engaging in digital game design with reflective learning, and the control group (N=69), with non-RGD design. The findings demonstrate that Reflective Game design effectively infuses reflective learning recommendations into the game-based learning environment. As a key enabling technology for implementing the concept of intelligent manufacturing, digital twin can reflect the entire life cycle process of physical entities and effectively solve the information-physical fusion problem in intelligent manufacturing. It has been widely applied in multiple fields such as product design, manufacturing, visualization monitoring, and intelligent operation and maintenance. However, currently there is a lack of research on the cross-application of digital twin and modular production systems (MPS systems), which cannot meet the needs of intelligent development of MPS systems. This article completes the mutual mapping of physical and virtual models through the collaborative operation of the electromechanical integration concept design function and control program in Siemens NX UG software. The verification of the MPS system and the construction of the digital twin system have been achieved, which aims to reduce costs and increase efficiency in the design and operation of the MPS production system. The integration of bibliometrics into an innovation process such as design thinking has the potential to enhance innovation engineering management by providing a comprehensive understanding and valuable insights of the research landscape in a particular domain to support divergent problem and solution phases. This research paper examines and demonstrates the potential benefits and practicability of methodically and operatively incorporating bibliometric scanning into the design thinking process. Thereby, an adapted approach consisting of bibliometric problem and solution scanning is presented and applied to the fields of fuel tank maintenance and robot locomotion in confined spaces. The approach generated a general overview of scientific production based on total publications as well as average citations and identified key concepts and collaborations in the respective fields through cooccurrence and co-Authorship network analyses. Two hypotheses regarding the content-related advances respectively the applicability from the innovation team perspective were developed and tested. The results supported both hypotheses and revealed that bibliometrics can complement and enhance the design thinking process by providing data driven knowledge to divergent problem understanding and solution ideation phases. By leveraging the insights obtained from bibliometric scanning, innovation teams can efficiently build on existing knowledge, uncover new opportunities and make more informed and comprehensible decisions to ultimately create more impactful solutions. © 2024 IEEE.
