The public sector faces significant challenges in fostering innovation, necessitating the integration of diverse perspectives to develop effective solutions. A persistent challenge is strengthening the connection between public administrations and citizens to ensure that solutions are relevant and highly practical. Following the design science research paradigm, we designed and implemented an open employee-driven innovation (OEDI) process in this paper to bridge these parties through two sequential (asynchronous) workshops involving citizens, public sector employees, and researchers as moderators. In the first workshop, citizens identified and defined their problems, challenges, and demands (PCDs) related to the public sector. Public sector employees addressed these PCDs in the second workshop and developed solution designs and approaches. The instantiated OEDI process has culminated in value-adding implementation projects for citizens and represents a bottom-up approach that can complement traditional top-down innovation processes. © 2025 IEEE Computer Society. Under the transformation background of the social function from "research centers" to "education centers", museums around the world try to take public education as an important function, provide public services to the society, and the participation of the people is also unprecedented. However, there is still no clear design process and method for the public education service of museums. They facing the problems of single activity form, insufficient audience attraction, and low age education content, there is still a certain degree of "emphasis on exhibition, light on education". This study introduces the flow theory, discusses, refines and expands the basic elements of the museum's public education services that facilitate the audience or users to obtain the flow experience, reorders and constructs the "Penta Model" of flow experience in museum's public education services. through exhibition planning, experience content, and educational games, the audience is promoted in the five flow stages of goal, challenge, integration, feedback and ability, and then gradually enter the flow status, so as to realize the purpose of the museum's immersive education service. Taking the service design of Duan Inkstone Art Exhibition inGuangdong Museum which named "Guanyan" as an example, the design verification of "Penta Model" of flow experience was carried out. through value proposition design, service system construction, exhibition journey planning and service touchpoints design (display of the exhibition, offline experience activities, online education games), the five flow status are organically integrated into each link, including the theme atmosphere and display method of the exhibition, process and interactive of viewing, in order to meet the audience's dual needs for knowledge and entertainment. The artificial intelligence (AI) business landscape has emerged in recent years as an inevitable scenario of integration into business operations. The present paper will discuss the economic and technical impacts of integrating AI in modern business settings. A major contribution of interest is the subject matter;we undertake an extensive literature review for the evolution of AI technologies and their effects on different kinds of industries. In this paper, we propose a methodology for assessing the effective integration strategy of AI and offer empirical findings based on case studies and data analysis. These are the challenges and, on the other hand, the opportunities that face transversing the digital frontier in business with a view of harnessing strategic AI implementation. This paper will thus discuss multifaceted impacts that AI integration in businesses carries along its chain and touch on the multi-faceted impacts that cut across technical and economic advancements. On the basis of an exhaustive literature review and some of the real case studies, the paper identified how the adoption of AI changed traditional business models and led to revolutionary changes in various industries. From an economic point of view, integration with AI leads to the development of gainful efficiency, the reduction of cost, and an increase in revenue through an improved decision-making process, the automation of tasks, and developing a personalized customer experience © 2024 IEEE.

Automation is reshaping the gig economy, raising urgent concerns about worker displacement. With the global rise in gig workers, there is an increasing urgency for HCI and design research to focus on the impact of designing automation technologies on labor dynamics. This study introduces speculative job design research to probe alternative opportunities for gig workers in an automated future, engaging 20 workers in the process. Guided by Feminist HCI, we performed reflexive thematic analysis to uncover gig workers' views on automation technology, human labor, speculative jobs, and their concerns about the future of work. We highlighted how workers see labor exploitation as a competitive asset over machines, urging that future platform designs must not perpetuate this. Notably, through speculative job design and conversation with workers, we proposed labor design, suggesting labor as a designable material to help address unfair labor dynamics in technology design. Our research offers potential insights and directions for addressing labor tensions in the evolving sociotechnical landscape. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In the field of industrial design, means of visual representation are fundamental both for the communication of designs as a support for the processes of ideation, and the definition of products. In particular, ‘sketching’ assumes different roles within the design process and is recognised as a key tool for the promotion of creativity. It is also recognised for its prominence and usefulness in the early stages of the industrial design process. In this work, the various taxonomies on sketching were analysed, as well as the models developed on the design process and the creative process, as a theoretical basis. Then, to propose a model of graphic ideation that aims to integrate the creative process into the design process—through the creative implementation of sketching. In the model, different types of sketches are identified and related to the phases of the process where they display their creative potential. This is an integrated model, as it highlights the importance of incorporating all these elements in order to enrich the creative process and obtain higher levels of innovation. It is concluded that a correct integration of the archetypes of sketches in industrial design, from the point of view of creativity, can improve the results of the process. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Building energy efficiency is an important consideration for both new and existing buildings. Windows play a significant role in the energy efficiency of buildings, as it can be a major source of heat loss or gain. The window design can have a significant impact on a building's energy performance, as it affects the amount of solar radiation that enters the building and the amount of heat that is lost through the envelope. Therefore, it is an important consideration in building design, particularly for energy-efficient buildings. To reduce a building's Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and energy costs during its construction process, energy simulation and optimization models can be used in combination with window design (window-to-wall ratio, glazing properties) through a Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Building Energy Modeling (BEM). Using Autodesk Insight 360 with BEM is a powerful tool that can aid in the optimization of building designs and the reduction of energy consumption. The integration of these techniques can assist architects and building managers in evaluating the window design to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study focuses on optimizing production parameters within a multi-stage sequential manufacturing system for the rayon fiber coagulating bath recycle process. It employs experimental design and mathematical programming techniques to address the interdependence and interactions among these stages. Unlike previous approaches that solely concentrated on single process optimization, often resulting in suboptimal designs and increased production costs due to idle time, our approach integrates the filtering, evaporating, and crystallizing processes as a cohesive system. The objective function, derived from experimental design, considers process and equipment limitations, input-output balance, and heat energy balance, with the overarching aim of minimizing production costs while meeting production constraints. To underscore the significance of our integrated approach, we provide a comparison between non-integration and our present approach, highlighting the crucial importance of this multi-stage sequential manufacturing process for enhanced efficiency and cost-effectiveness. © 2023 IEEE.

To be successful in traditional markets, established and historically grown companies must increasingly face disruptive market players. Tech-savvy, digital companies are influencing sectors such as the insurance industry using new technologies and approaches in areas such as data management and are increasingly acquiring customers through customized services and products. Established organizations must therefore adapt innovative concepts such as data mesh architectures as part of data democratization projects to remain competitive as a datadriven structure. Due to the lack of a universal methodology, this paper deals with the development of a framework for the introduction of data mesh architectures as a central component of a comprehensive data democratization initiatives. The methodology therefore includes reference modeling to develop a framework for data mesh integration and is supported by expert interviews from this paper's partner direct insurance company. As a result, this paper presents a holistic meta model as proposal for introducing data mesh architectures to various kinds of practical fields. The conclusions emphasize the iterative and incremental design of data mesh architectures and identify key aspects such as knowledge management, change management and organizational management as crucial for a successful implementation.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, data is becoming a critical resource. When used effectively, it can lead to more accurate forecasts, process optimization, and the creation of innovative business models. The necessary data is often distributed across multiple organizations, and its full value can only be realized through shared collaboration. Data spaces provide organizations with a platform for sovereign and secure data sharing. To enable legally secure data sharing and ensure compliance with regulations, data trustees play a critical role as trusted intermediaries. However, choosing a suitable data trustee that meets the needs of the participants who want to share data with each other is difficult. Our study seeks to elucidate the process by which participants of a data space can choose an appropriate data trustee. To this purpose, we have implemented a whitelist approach. We report on the results of our design science research project, which includes design features to facilitate the integration of our whitelist approach into different data space instantiations. Potential shortcomings were identified and addressed during an expert workshop. By providing verified design knowledge, we help practitioners in the data space community to incorporate the concept of how to select the most appropriate data trustee. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.
