With the improvement of people's living standards, higher requirements have been put forward for the quality of the living environment. The progress of science and technology has provided the possibility for the further development of intelligent buildings. As an important component of intelligent buildings, the intelligence level of intelligent lighting is relatively fall behind, especially energy-saving and comprehensive linkage are not considered in the scope of intelligent lighting. According to the characteristics of indoor environment control variables and controlled variables, this paper uses fuzzy control method to realize the comprehensive control of indoor lighting, summarizes the corresponding measures taken by experience into control rules, and constructs a controller to control the complex lighting process instead of people. through the construction of control rules, the natural lighting is constrained under the full consideration of the influence of temperature and ventilation. The purpose of giving priority to the use of natural lighting and taking into account the overall energy optimization of the system is achieved. The energy-saving idea of combining lighting control with other systems of intelligent building is proposed, and the system performance is simulated and analyzed. It has the advantages of high integration, high degree of intelligence, energy saving and convenient use.

User-centered design (UCD) plays a critical role in product development by focusing on creating interactive products that effectively meet the diverse needs of users. This study introduces a comprehensive approach that integrates the Agile Scrum software development life-cycle (SDLC) with a strong emphasis on usability and explainability. In our approach, users were actively involved as co-designers throughout the entire development process. This involvement was crucial for enhancing both the usability and explainability of the product. To assess the practical application of this approach, we applied it to developing a deep learning-based tea fermentation detection model. We engaged users extensively through various methods, including questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, and direct observation, to gather detailed requirements and feedback. The integration of user feedback into the Interactive design (ID) process aimed to refine and improve the product based on real user experiences. Our findings indicate that this user-centered approach resulted in a 10% increase in project costs and a 25% extension of the timeline. Despite these additional investments, the positive feedback received from users justified the increased expenditure. Notably, our study revealed that female users reported lower levels of satisfaction compared to their male counterparts, a trend consistent with other research. This suggests a need for further exploration into the factors contributing to this disparity and highlights the importance of addressing gender-specific concerns in software design. Overall, this study underscores the effectiveness of combining agile methodologies with user-centered principles to achieve high usability and explainability. The insights gained emphasize the necessity for continued research into creating more inclusive and effective software solutions. This study employed a mixed research approach to analyze commonly used teaching models in STEM education and integrated the findings of comprehensive STEM research. The 6E design Teaching Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Engineer, Enrich and Evaluate) was selected, following the "Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics integration" approach. It was used to develop STEM education activities targeting students in the 5th and 6th grades, focusing on "Dynamics and Energy Conversion in Sail Car design." through three rounds, the effectiveness and feasibility of the activities were examined. The study employed quantitative tools and qualitative interviews (including teachers and students) to improve the teaching process and instructional framework. The results indicate that (1) STEM education activities developed using the 6E Model significantly enhance students' interest in engineering subjects when applied in teaching practice;(2) the instructional activities can effectively be applied in classrooms that integrate scientific inquiry and engineering practices. Over the course of the three rounds, the participating teachers demonstrated improved classroom control and time management, while student scores in engineering design projects showed noticeable progress. through the optimization of the teaching process, instructional framework, and other aspects such as materials, operations and management, the study ultimately developed a highly practical STEM education case that integrates engineering practices into science inquiry classrooms. This case serves as a reference for frontline science teachers and researchers.

Building renovation plays a key role on the path to low-carbon economy, yet the increasing complexity and cost of decarbonization strategies to reach nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB) is a major challenge that hinders the potential of retrofitting the existing building stock. Multifunctional facade solutions appear as a feasible solution on this regard. This paper presents a novel methodology conceived to serve as a standardized approach for an effective implementation of solar harvesting-multifunctional facades into pre-existing HVAC systems in buildings renovation. The design strategies presented consider users' needs, different renovation scenarios and operation possibilities while ensuring an optimal use of renewable energy sources. The methodology is supported on building simulation and applied to a real case study, including pre-sizing and evaluation of different configurations to optimize the solar production and the thermal storage. The work shows a number of constraints and limitations that must be effectively addressed, ensuring the user's needs as well as the efficient operation of all systems, both existing and new. Main constrains encountered on the integrationprocess are building geometry, user priorities, and the pre-existence of an HVAC system, being a central thermal storage system selected as the preferred solution for the integration with the pre-existing installation while optimizing solar fraction through an adequate building management strategy. The methodology is successfully applied in a demo-case on Tartu, demonstrating the capacity for integrating the solutions on existing HVAC configuration, with a potential reduction of up to 21 tons of annual GHG emissions.

Reducing CO 2 emissions through sustainable lightweight design is a critical focus in automotive engineering, requiring innovative approaches to material selection and designintegration. However, traditional methods often fail to balance performance, manufacturability, and sustainability. This paper demonstrates how Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), utilizing SysML, can address these challenges by systematically integrating design, manufacturing operations, and component functionality. The study aims to enhance stakeholder communication and impact analysis within this complex system by using the MagicGrid methodology within an MBSE framework. This approach aims to enhance system understanding, requirements management, traceability, and risk mitigation in the lightweight design of components for CO₂ emission reduction. The results demonstrate that MBSE provides a clearer perspective for stakeholders, allowing them to use it as a descriptive roadmap for design, manufacturability, sustainability metrics, and validation of component functionality. By demonstrating the effectiveness of MBSE in promoting sustainable practices within automotive component design, this approach helps ensure that environmental objectives are met across the system, from design and manufacturing to functionality.
