The work presented demonstrate a methodology for workflow from concept to prototype and timely production of a product which typically involves three main stages: product design and development, processing and construction of tooling, and validation of the virtual prototype with a physical one. The focus of this study will be on the second stage of product development. The aim of the study is to emphasize the integration of virtual prototyping in creating complex plastic parts, which improves the injection molding filling analysis. Simulating the mold filling process in injection molding, particularly for creating complex plastic products with minimal defect rates, presents significant challenges. Although CAE software offers a wide range of options for optimization and filling analysis in injection molding, the complexity of the process means that a clear and well-defined methodology for studying it or for predicting and optimizing process parameters is lacking. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper aims at demonstrating the relevance of a new design perimeter for power switching cells through a monolithic vertical integration approach on a multi-terminal power chip with Wide-Band Gap material such as 4H silicon carbide (SiC). Multi-terminal monolithic architectures making use quasi-only of vertical unipolar switch (VDMOS) and JBS diode architecture within the context of a 600V/10A full integration of switching cells on 4H-SiC chips are proposed and validated through Sentaurus (TM) 2D numerical simulations. The key method to etch and to fill the metallic via neededto connect the VDMOS and the JBS from top to back side of the SiC wafer is presented. The first optimization of the electroplating process resulted in a Ni metal layer of about 5 mu m thick.

This study aims to explore the application of embodied cognition theory in the interactive design of music healing space, and how to improve the healing effect through the interaction between users and space. This paper proposes a method for interactive design of healing space based on embodied cognition. This study takes the public with healing needs as the research object, aiming to reshape the method of contemporary music healing. First, the embodiment of music healing space interaction design and embodied cognition theory were deeply explored. The core of embodied cognition theory is extracted, that is, the core role of the body in the cognitive process. This theory clearly reveals the close connection between physical experience and cognitive activities, and provides a new theoretical basis and perspective for music healing interactive space design. By analyzing the close connection between music and body perception, further discover the opportunities and significance of introducing embodied cognition into the interactive design of music healing space. By analyzing the embodied characteristics of the healing population and combining previous related research, a method for interactive design of music healing space based on embodied cognition theory is constructed. This methodology centers on the interplay between body and space, adopting perceptual and action design principles to cultivate an environment conducive to sensory awakening, emotional shaping, and healing effects. It emphasizes the integration of body and music, bringing profound and effective healing experience to individuals. Embodied cognition is shaped by the "sensory-motor" interaction between the subject's body and the environment. In textile design, patterns are traditionally printed on clothing, often comprising repetitive elements. designers create these patterns, which are then assembled into a complete design. The use of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) offers a novel approach, enabling designers to draw inspiration for new ideas by generating textile patterns. Various GAN variants, with advantages in diverse fields, including fashion, have been proposed for this purpose. This paper explores the integration of deep learning, particularly Generative Adversarial Networks, to generate textile designs to provide ideas and facilitate the creative process of the designers. Leveraging Wasserstein GAN and Wasserstein GAN with Gradient Penalty, this study compares their performance in generating pleasant aesthetic results, taking into consideration simples conditionalization of the models. The GAN framework, consisting of a generator and discriminator, refines the image generation process through collaborative learning. A comparison between the models is done visually and by loss stability. This research also addresses the need of dedicated machine learning algorithms for textile design, providing insights into the intersection of technology and creativity in the textile industry. © 2024 Interfaces and Human Computer Interaction. The rise in demand and price for raw materials is pushing manufacturing industries to look for new ways to secure parts and products for their production while keeping the expenses low. Remanufacturing as the manifestation of circular paths can contribute towards sustainability (in terms of extension of use and reduction of waste). This work proposes a decision-support system to select, through adaptability, product and parts for remanufacture. It makes use of complexity analysis and production capacity (i.e., demand) to quantify costs. The complexity level was related with (i) characteristics of components and (ii) disassembly transitions. The decision system is conceived to assess, through inspection, the potential of a product/part for re-manufacturability based on failure pattern and recoverable rate. The re-manufacturability is evaluated, on cost alternatives, as per regeneration using additive or subtractive manufacturing, reuse of components/parts, recovery of materials, disposal. The additive alternative was analyzed over complexity (suggesting alternatives while estimating costs vs. complexity) which increases interest in the applicability to recover complex forms of limited (unplanned) demand. To demonstrate the applicability, authors quantified costs involving the remanufacturing of gear pumps parametrizing parts on a complexity amount after a relative product recyclability selection. Results evaluate (dis)assembly and regeneration across main feature assessment.

Low-cost and high-precision fabrication of surface relief gratings on AR/VR waveguide combiners is one of the critical steps in realizing devices suitable for mass adoption. Displacement Talbot Lithography (DTL) has emerged as a viable technology that relies on the proven optical lithography approach of the semiconductor industry while offering a low-cost solution for large area printing of periodic structures of the kind required on waveguides. However, patterning with DTL differs from the common projection photolithography approaches in terms of the optical concepts used in printing an image in a photoresist layer. A key capability required for mass adoption is accurate simulation support for faster integration, process optimization, and mask design. Electronic design Automation (EDA) tools are common for projection approaches and can now be used to understand DTL interactions with waveguide designs. This approach relies on three specific Synopsys modeling tools, namely S-Litho and RSoft Photonic Device Tools in conjunction with LightTools which are used for optimization of the photolithographic printing process (DTL) and the optical performance of the printed device (waveguide), respectively. A dedicated suite for modelling the DTL process within the S-Litho software was developed for this purpose. The model is calibrated and optimized using actual printing results in photoresist layers obtained through the DTL process. In this presentation we will show results of this new method that combines the optimization of DTL lithographic printing and optical performance of the resulting waveguide. The combination of the unique DTL solution and the comprehensive simulation capabilities holds great promise for accelerating the development and commercialization of AR devices.

Fueled by ever-increasing urbanization today, the construction sector is a major contributor to negative environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions, ozone depletion, and carbon footprint. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a systematic method used for the evaluation of the environmental impacts of a building throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal at end-of-life stage. Early implementation of LCA principles in the design phase of a project aids stakeholders in the decision making process by allowing targeted interventions by seeking sustainable strategies in material selection. The pursuit of sustainability in LCA applications engenders the possibility for smart buildings – the integration of technology in the building design process, yielding increased levels of performance and efficiency. Smart building initiatives further extend the focus of energy optimization in buildings through utilization of and enhanced operational efficiency throughout a building’s lifecycle. With the arrival of intelligent big data era, education has also undergone changes. Educational resources are gradually digitizing from traditional paper resources to a general trend of development. However, the effective utilization of resources has become a new challenge. Resource waste can occur during use, resulting in low resource utilization. How to integrate resources by analyzing the data generated during the learning process is a problem to be solved today. Starting from educational data resources and based on the xAPI standard, this article standardizes and stores learning data, and designs a division basis for the cross media integration of educational digital resources. This article also explains the detailed process, presentation, and feedback of the integration. Finally, this article introduces application scenarios through design cases and provides prospects for further research. © 2023 IEEE.

Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology offers potentially transformative societal impacts, including significant mobility, road safety, and environmental benefits. ADAS systems can cut-down the number of road accidents by adopting active safety systems in vehicles to be operated on motorways or in urban traffic environments. Given this, today the race is on to deliver safe and reliable autonomous vehicles (AVs) in the market at scale. Advanced technologies such as smart sensors, modern electronics, and computing algorithms are adopted in vehicle electrical and electronic (E/E) architectures. However, this leads to growing system complexity. The development process includes sensors finalization, integration, and validation against simulated dynamic environments. While progressing through the development process several key engineering challenges arise, thus the automotive industry is turning towards 'modelling and simulation' to overcome them at the early design stages. ADAS development is possible by balancing safety, comfort, and economical fuel efficiency with a simulation-based testing and validation framework. The simulation can be placed within a complete dynamic AV simulation loop, controlling the simulated environment. This paper overviews modelling and simulation-based design approaches in ADAS and automated driving (AD) systems and their verification during the early phases of ADAS/AD development using simulation software tools. It also explains the crucial role of modelling and simulation tools in today's ADAS/AD system design and development process. © 2024 IEEE.
