Recent advances in manufacturing research have set the stage for the industrial integration of zero-defect manufacturing strategies, aiming towards a more sustainable production paradigm. A systematically deployment guideline to implement zero-defect manufacturing is needed to transform the future cyber-physical factory floor. This paper describes a novel framework based on a well-known cyber-physical architecture that provides advanced information analytics, robust information flows, and data acquisition systems that support defect detection and prediction introduces repair technologies and sets up procedures for preventive maintenance. through continuous inspection of product and equipment status during the manufacturing process, raw quality and tool health data from different sources is used to obtain key performance indicators. Statistical tools such as cross-correlation are then applied to quantify underlying relationships between product quality specifications and equipment health. The resulting correlations are then used to reduce non-conformance of products manufactured by implementation of preventive maintenance. A unified implementation for zero-defect manufacturing cyber-physical processes eases their integration in future Industry 4.0 facilities and validated in the context of offsite construction manufacturing of steel frame assemblies. The integration of GAN s into the creative workflow accelerates production while preserving the anime aesthetic's integrity. “Anime visage” marks a breakthrough, heralding a more efficient and diversified approach to anime character design. The study aims to introduce a mechanism for distinguishing real and generated faces, enhancing credibility. This collaboration between human creativity and automation holds immense promise for the future of anime character design in digital art and animation, ushering in a new era of innovation. Enhancing anime face generation through dataset curation: Losses are reduced and the crucial trade-off between dataset complexity and model performance is brought to light by limiting the size of the dataset.

In the SerDes transmitter system designed for 16Gb/s high-speed serial data transmissions, conventional FFE architectures exhibit insufficient flexibility across varying transmission environments, which hampers effective compensation for signal attenuation and distortion. This paper presents a design using a 28nm standard CMOS process that features a programmable tap coefficient FFE structure. This structure allows for dynamic adjustment of equalization coefficients through configuration registers in response to transmission channel variations, thereby enhancing compensation for signal attenuation and distortion. Furthermore, the integration of a variable gain amplifier(vGA) within the SerDes transmitter system facilitates targeted compensation for high-frequency signal components, effectively mitigating frequency-selective fading within the channel. Simulation results demonstrate that the SerDes transmitter circuit, incorporating this novel FFE structure and vGA module, maintains stable operation at a supply voltage of 0.9v and a transmission rate of 16Gb/s, while consuming 34mW of power. These results corroborate the design's efficacy and efficiency.

Modern day grid operation requires multiple interlinked applications and many automated processes at control center for monitoring and operation of grid. Information technology integrated with operational technology plays a critical role in grid operation. Computing resource requirements of these software applications varies widely and includes high processing applications, high Input/Output (I/O) sensitive applications and applications with low resource requirements. Present day grid operation control center uses various applications for load despatch schedule management, various real-time analytics & optimization applications, post despatch analysis and reporting applications etc. These applications are integrated with Operational Technology (OT) like Data acquisition system / Energy management system (SCADA/EMS), Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) etc. This paper discusses various design considerations and implementation of converged infrastructure through virtualization technology by consolidation of servers and storages using multi-cluster approach to meet high availability requirement of the applications and achieve desired objectives of grid control center of north eastern region in India. The process involves weighing benefits of different architecture solution, grouping of application hosts, making multiple clusters with reliability and security considerations, and designing suitable infrastructure to meet all end objectives. Reliability, enhanced resource utilization, economic factors, storage and physical node selection, integration issues with OT systems and optimization of cost are the prime design considerations. Modalities adopted to minimize downtime of critical systems for grid operation during migration from the existing infrastructure and integration with OT systems of North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Center are also elaborated in this paper.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a control algorithm based on fuzzy logic oriented to the area of teaching–learning processes in the chemical industry, more specifically of a nonlinear autoclave reactor. In order to evaluate the dynamic behavior against fuzzy control, an integration of software (MATLAB and Unity 3D) was developed, connected through DLL shared memories. The first software houses the fuzzy logic controller based on fuzzy sets and previously established linguistic variables;on the other hand, Unity 3D houses the dynamic model of the autoclave in order to simulate its real behavior. The latter software allows a more realistic conception of the chosen process, which is why we chose to design an immersive and interactive virtual environment with the virtual implementation of different elements of industrial instrumentation such as transmitters, valves, signaling, etc., animation of valves, control panels and a SCADA system. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

As mechatronic systems become more complex, their design requires different engineering teams, each specialized in their own domain, to cooperate. This is often accomplished through a co-design process, which aims to parallelize the engineering work and therefore improve the time-efficiency and cost of system development. However, the integration step following the concurrent design often fails due to incorrect or incomplete assumptions made regarding other domains. In this paper, we propose to use a combination of two different views on the system. One view is the traditional system design methods that aim at system decomposition. The other view aims at defining the system-level properties and their interrelations. By means of a drone case study, we demonstrate how to decompose the system into manageable components, while still capturing relationships between these components and their related properties. For the drone modeling and decomposition, we use ARCADIA, whereas for the management of the cross-domain system relations, we use a knowledge model and tool that we presented in previous work.

Printed electronics actively drives innovations in wearable technology. This article reports a flexible, highly conformal 6-lead electrocardiography (ECG) patch with printed electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielded lead wires. The skin patch is fabricated through high throughput roll-to-roll (R2R) screen printing and automated integration processes. The patch connects to an electronics unit via magnetic connectors to form a fully functional ECG system. The design considerations for the R2R process flow are discussed, and a sample recording of the ECG device is presented.

The digital transformation era, emphasized by Industry 4.0, have transformed and globalized industries. This transformation is important for increasing the efficiency, traceability, and market reach, particularly in handicraft sectors. The COvID-19 pandemic further extends the need for innovative digital approaches signifying the limitations of conventional methods. This paper explores the digital integration in the handicraft toy manufacturing industry, particularly discussing on the design and implementation of digital twin. Despite the sector's rich cultural heritage and the increasing global market demand for Indian handicrafts, traditional artisanal methods face challenges from worldwide competition and continuously changing consumer requirements. Digital transformation, distinctively through digital twin, provides a solution by creating virtual representations of physical products that enable enhanced simulation, analysis, and optimization of design processes. The study features a tailored approach to digital twin framework for implementation in Channapatna's toy design process, which includes virtual modeling, data processing, and real-time interaction between physical and digital environments. The proposed framework aims to improve efficiency, enhance market responsiveness and preserve cultural heritage. Future recommendations include development of digital infrastructure in rural areas, implementing comprehensive continuous training programs for upskill, and fostering collaboration between artisans, designers, technologists, and policymakers. This research emphasizes the potential of digital transformation to drive sustainable growth and global competitiveness in the handicraft toy industry.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the incorporation of machine literacy techniques for the prediction of chip failure rates in the design of veritably Large Scale integration (vLSI) systems. The complexity of very large-scale integrated circuits (vLSI) is increasing as semiconductor technology progresses, which presents issues in terms of their ability to be trusted. When it comes to dealing with the complexities of ultramodern chip infrastructures, traditional methods of failure rate prediction typically see a dramatic decline. The purpose of this is to improve the accuracy and precision of failure rate forecasts by analysing a wide range of elements, including design specifications, environmental factors, and manufacturing variables. This will be accomplished through the utilization of machine literacy algorithms. Our method tries to discover patterns and dependencies that contribute to chip failures using extensive data analysis and model training. As a result, it provides suppliers with a valuable instrument that can be used to proactively solve implicit trust ability issues during the vLSI design process. Within the constantly shifting landscape of semiconductor technology, the findings of this investigation present a potentially fruitful path toward the improvement of the reliability of very large-scale integrated circuits (vLSI) and the enhancement of the trustworthiness of electronic systems.

This paper presents an indigenous design and development of an interface board, interfacing different micro-controller peripherals and sensors, for the Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 Digital Signal processor (DSP), with a focus on its integration with MATLAB Simulink Embedded Coder to do efficient programming and code deployment. The developed interface board, having essential hardware, provides a reliable and seamless connection between the TMS320F28335 DSP and the development environment, enabling real-time control, signal and data processing tasks for various embedded control systems. MATLAB Simulink Embedded Coder is employed to generate C code for the TMS320F28335 through automatic code generation and direct deployment of algorithms to the DSP streamlining the development process for embedded applications. This paper discusses the hardware components of the interface board along with communication protocols and configuration of various C2000 microcontroller blocks for software integration with MATLAB, highlighting its versatility and ease of use for real-time embedded system development. A case study of real-time implementation of closed-loop v/f control of induction motor is presented and the obtained results demonstrate the efficacy of the interface board while enabling its efficient programming and operation. This work contributes a viable, customizable solution for the students, researchers, and engineers started working with TMS320F28335 DSPs and Embedded Coder, promoting enhanced productivity and flexibility in embedded system development.
