The spiking cameras offer the benefits of high dynamic range (HDR), high temporal resolution, and low data redundancy. However, reconstructing HDR videos in high-speed conditions using single-bit spikings presents challenges due to the limited bit depth. Increasing the bit depth of the spikings is advantageous for boosting HDR performance, but the readout efficiency will be decreased, which is unfavorable for achieving a high frame rate ( HFR) video. To address these challenges, we propose a readout mechanism to obtain rolling- mixed-bit (RMB) spikings, which involves inter-leaving multi-bit spikings within the single-bit spikings in a rolling manner, thereby combining the characteristics of high bit depth and efficient readout. Furthermore, we introduce RMB-Net for reconstructing HDR and HFR videos. RMB-Net comprises a cross-bit attention block for fusing mixed-bit spikings and a cross-time attention block for achieving temporal fusion. Extensive experiments conducted on synthetic and real-synthetic data demonstrate the superiority of our method. For instance, pure 3-bit spikings result in 3 times of data volume, whereas our method achieves comparable performance with less than 2% increase in data volume.

This paper addresses the Doppler shift challenge inherent to Orthogonal Time-Frequency Space (OTFS) communication techniques in high-speed mobile scenarios of the Internet of Things (IoT). First, the performance of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) technology is analyzed, and the Bit Error Rates (BER) of OTFS, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) under different QAM modulation modes are compared. It is concluded that when the OTFS transmits a large amount of data, the larger the QAM modulation order, the smaller the BER, and the better the transmission effect. Secondly, the BER trends of OTFS with OFDM at different speeds are compared. The results demonstrate that OTFS exhibits superior anti-Doppler performance compared with OFDM at high-speed moving speeds. Finally, the BER performances of the three detection methods, namely, MP, LMMSE, and MRC delay-Doppler, are investigated to analyse the performance of the BER under different QAM modulations. The results demonstrate that the MRC delay-Doppler detection method is more effective in reducing the BER for the DD domain, exhibiting a robust capacity to compensate for the Doppler frequency deviation and facilitate superior signal restoration. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

As scientific codes are ported between GPU platforms, continuous testing is required to ensure numerical robustness and identify potential numerical differences between platforms. Compiler-induced numerical differences can occur when a program is compiled and run on different GPUs and compilers, and the numerical outcomes are different for the same input. We present a study of compiler-induced numerical differences between NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, two widely used GPUs in HPC clusters. Our approach uses a random program generator (Varity) to generate thousands of short numerical tests in CUDA and HIP, and their inputs;then, we use differential testing to check if the program produced a numerical inconsistency when run on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, using the same compiler optimization level. We also use the AMD's HIPIFY tool to convert CUDA tests into HIP tests and test if there are numerical inconsistencies induced by HIPIFY. In our study, we generated more than 600,000 tests and found subtle numerical differences occurring between the two classes of GPUs. We found that some of the differences come from (1) math library calls, (2) differences in floating-point precision (FP64 versus FP32), and (3) converting code to HIP with HIPIFY. © 2024 IEEE.

We present DiffInDScene, a novel framework for tackling the problem of high-quality 3D indoor scene generation, which is challenging due to the complexity and diversity of the indoor scene geometry. Although diffusionbased generative models have previously demonstrated impressive performance in image generation and object-level 3D generation, they have not yet been applied to roomlevel 3D generation due to their computationally intensive costs. In DiffInDScene, we propose a cascaded 3D diffusion pipeline that is efficient and possesses strong generative performance for Truncated Signed Distance Function (TSDF). The whole pipeline is designed to run on a sparse occupancy space in a coarse-to-fine fashion. Inspired by KinectFusion's incremental alignment and fusion of local TSDF volumes, we propose a diffusion-based SDF fusion approach that iteratively diffuses and fuses local TSDF volumes, facilitating the generation of an entire room environment. The generated results demonstrate that our work is capable to achieve high-quality room generation directly in three-dimensional space, starting from scratch. In addition to the scene generation, the final part of DiffInDScene can be used as a post-processing module to refine the 3D reconstruction results from multi-view stereo. According to the user study, the mesh quality generated by our DiffInDScene can even outperform the ground truth mesh provided by ScanNet.

To date, many sound quality assessment algorithms have been proposed to address speech quality prediction problem. However, utilizing these methods in real-world entertainment live-stream scenarios directly may suffer from the following limitations: (1) There are no publicly available high-quality annotated sound datasets gathered from real-world entertainment live-stream platform to train and verify the effectiveness of the model. (2) The existing sound quality assessment methods are not designed for entertainment live-stream scenarios. To overcome these limitations, in this work, we first present a high-quality Entertainment Live-stream Sound (HEL-Sound) dataset, which contains 18092 sound files with high-quality annotated Mean Opinion Score (MOS), gathered from the real-world entertainment live-stream platform. To the best of our knowledge, it is the largest real-world entertainment live-stream sound quality assessment dataset to date. Meanwhile, we design the Non-intrusive Multi-order Contextual Attention (NiMCA) framework to construct a strong baseline, which jointly modeling the cross-order context information and the complex semantics of entertainment live-stream sound in a unified deep model under non-intrusive setting. Extensive experiments conducted on the collected HEL-Sound demonstrate that our proposed NiMCA achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Concept Bottleneck Models (CBM) are inherently interpretable models that factor model decisions into human-readable concepts. They allow people to easily understand why a model is failing, a critical feature for high-stakes applications. CBMs require manually specified concepts and often under-perform their black box counterparts, preventing their broad adoption. We address these shortcomings and are first to show how to construct high-performance CBMs without manual specification of similar accuracy to black box models. Our approach, Language Guided Bottlenecks (LaBo), leverages a language model, GPT-3, to define a large space of possible bottlenecks. Given a problem domain, LaBo uses GPT-3 to produce factual sentences about categories to form candidate concepts. LaBo efficiently searches possible bottlenecks through a novel submodular utility that promotes the selection of discriminative and diverse information. Ultimately, GPT-3's sentential concepts can be aligned to images using CLIP, to form a bottleneck layer. Experiments demonstrate that LaBo is a highly effective prior for concepts important to visual recognition. In the evaluation with 11 diverse datasets, LaBo bottlenecks excel at few-shot classification: they are 11.7% more accurate than black box linear probes at 1 shot and comparable with more data. Overall, LaBo demonstrates that inherently interpretable models can be widely applied at similar, or better, performance than black box approaches.(1)

Despite the increasing computing power of shared memory systems with high core counts, parallel graph processing frameworks cannot exploit it effectively. The reason behind this is the inherent challenges in parallel graph algorithms, which are efficient management of dynamically created tasks and irregular data access patterns. In this paper, we categorize several popular design choices into three design dimensions: (i) execution mode, (ii) data access pattern, and (iii) work activation. We provide their high-level parallel implementations and analyze various implementations of three representative iterative graph algorithms by considering these design dimensions. To gain a better understanding of design choices, we examine their impacts on performance, communication, scalability, and work efficiency. We also investigate the communication characteristics of the design choices on two state-of-the-art shared-memory platforms by performing micro-architectural analysis. Our microarchitectural analysis reveals that a topology-driven, pull-based model gives up to 20 x better performance. © 2024 IEEE.

high-performance multi-core processors serve as the foundational hardware for intelligent computing systems. Compared to traditional multi-core CPU processors, they achieve higher processing performance and lower power consumption by densely integrating multiple general-purpose processing cores with heterogeneous specialized accelerator units on the chip. Currently, high-performance multi-core processors are widely employed in commercial sectors such as cloud data centers, edge processing nodes, and terminal devices. This paper analyzes and summarizes the research achievements of leading global institutions in high-performance processor chip development, including Intel, AMD, IBM, ARM, etc. The focus is on novel multi-core processors such as Intel's Alder Lake series with heterogeneous cores, AMD's latest Zen3 processing core, IBM's new Power10 processor, and Telum processor. The paper also outlines the key technological trends in the development of these multi-core processors, providing a foundational technological support for the future hardware platform development of intelligent computing systems. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Solving complex visual tasks such as "Who invented the musical instrument on the right?" involves a composition of skills: understanding space, recognizing instruments, and also retrieving prior knowledge. Recent work shows promise by decomposing such tasks using a large language model (LLM) into an executable program that invokes specialized vision models. However, generated programs are error-prone: they omit necessary steps, include spurious ones, and are unable to recover when the specialized models give incorrect outputs. Moreover, they require loading multiple models, incurring high latency and computation costs. We propose Visual program Distillation (VPD), an instruction tuning framework that produces a vision-language model (VLM) capable of solving complex visual tasks with a single forward pass. VPD distills the reasoning ability of LLMs by using them to sample multiple candidate programs, which are then executed and verified to identify a correct one. It translates each correct program into a language description of the reasoning steps, which are then distilled into a VLM. Extensive experiments show that VPD improves the VLM's ability to count, understand spatial relations, and reason compositionally. Our VPD-trained PaLI-X outperforms all prior VLMs, achieving state-of-the-art performance across complex vision tasks, including MMBench, OK-VQA, A-OKVQA, TallyQA, POPE, and Hateful Memes. An evaluation with human annotators also confirms that VPD improves model response factuality and consistency. Finally, experiments on content moderation demonstrate that VPD is also helpful for adaptation to real-world applications with limited data.

Under high dynamic conditions, the signal carrier will generate significant Doppler frequency shift, and due to high-speed movement, it will lead to more obvious multipath effects. At this time, tracking errors will increase or even lose lock, posing a serious challenge to GNSS receivers. In order to overcome the problem of multipath in high dynamic environments and improve the performance of receivers, this paper proposes a vector tracking algorithm based on Strobe correlators. Firstly, the design of Strobe correlators is used to mitigate the impact of multipath on the code loop and the resulting pseudorange measurement values in each channel. Then, Kalmannet is used to extract Doppler frequency to assist the receiver in improving performance under high dynamic conditions. Simulation results show that this method is feasible. © 2024 IEEE.
