Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) is a growing technology with a great potential to both military and civilian applications. Extensive developments and advanced innovations of AUV have been introduced in recent years from various research centres around the world. Among the fundamental modules of an AUV, the propulsion system strongly affects the vehicle performance. The increasing complexity in missions and operational environment require the propulsion system to offer high efficiency and excellent manoeuvrability. In this study, an AUV simulation program named AUVSIPRO is proposed in the preliminary design stage to predict and compare the AUV manoeuvrability equipped with different propulsion configurations. A series of primary manoeuvres standard for underwater vehicles are presented to investigate the system feasibility. In order to derive the mathematical model in the simulator, the propulsor models are experimentally conducted in the Towing Tank, the hull hydrodynamic coefficients are calculated using analytical, and system identification approaches. The system outputs are achieved by numerical method. The simulation program provides an effective platform to examine different the propulsion system configurations to an AUV as well as a torpedo shaped submarine.

In recent years, high availability shared storage will become a popular information technology industry development orientation. Currently, information technology industries emphasize to reduce high risk data requirements and improve read and write performance of data storage. Therefore, the main purpose of this work is to improve read and write performance with the best way on Ceph Storage Cluster. In this system, the data is stored on Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), and the data stored in-memory virtual distributed store system that mentioned as Alluxio automatically. Then, the data would be processed through Hadoop Map Reduce method and the output would be inserted into Hadoop Distributed File System and Alluxio environment. The first experiment is to use S3 as application program interface that will connect to RADOS Gateway stored data into Object Storage Daemon (OSD). The second experiment is based on the first out experiment would be through Ceph File System (CephFS) connected to Object Storage Daemon directly. The data is saved in Ceph environment more secure than in Alluxio as in-memory storage system because OSD can be used for data backup based on object storage level. We can use S3 browser (GUI) to maintain data like grant access, maintain folders maintenance, create user accounts, move data location etc. The last one, we used Inkscope monitors all system. If there is any problem, system will give warning or error responds to users automatically.

Spectrum sensing based on sub-Nyquist sampling has been a promising solution for the wideband spectrum sensing. However, most of the existing sub-Nyquist approaches require the higher sampling rate to achieve a desired detection performance when the number of occupied sub-bands increases. And also, the computational complexity of the recovering signal will be raised. Therefore, we propose an effective wideband spectrum sensing scheme based on nested sampling in this paper, which has lower sampling rate or higher compression ratio. In the proposed approach, firstly, we obtain the estimation of the power spectrum of wideband signal based on the nested sampling followed by the sub-band-bin energy detecting. Simulation results show that our method using the nested sampling outperforms co-prime sampling.

To address the performance and programming challenges from the constantly evolving computer architecture in parallel discrete ordinates method, this paper presents our continue effort on developing and improving the parallel 3D discrete ordinates radiation transport code JSNT-S. A hybrid acceleration method for source iteration is presented, which combines the PCR algorithm and the Anderson algorithm for accelerating different energy groups. A patch-abstraction and hybrid MPI+threads implementation is employed for the domain partition algorithm and the sweeping algorithm. Several optimizations on the data-driven sweeping algorithm are presented, such as exploiting parallelism in angular directions, developing optimal priority strategy for scheduling and reducing DAG construction and scheduling overhead by vertex clustering. The correctness is verified using the AMBER procedure and the result of VENUS-3 benchmark is demonstrated. The parallel performance is measured using the model modified from VENUS-2 and the Kobayashi benchmark, the result of which shows reasonable scaling performance up to 76,800 cores.

SDN(Software Defined Networking) is a new network architecture, which decouples the control plane from data plane and operates the globle network with elaborate abstraction. The control plane advocates a centralized approach of network control, which provides both flexibility and high efficiency. However, there are lots of problems in this architecture and the bottleneck problem is the network's performance. Existing OpenFlow based flow expiry mechanisms relys on a fixed timeout after which the switch proactively removes the flow entries from its flow table which may causes unnecessary flow table occupation. Therefore, in this paper, a strategy of dynamically adjusting timeout time is proposed and the program is implemented. It can dynamically adjust the timeout time according to the actual situation of equipment and data flow, and can better adapt to the network with different data flows. The experiment shows that the strategy can improve the network's performance and the mechanism designed in this paper is proved to be effective.

Remote memory access (RMA) technique is a very attractive way for improving efficiency of high-performance computations (HPC) and simplifying parallel program development. However, coming up with efficient concurrent data structures for distributed environments with deep hierarchy, such as computer clusters and data centres, is challenging. We propose a novel approach to design distributed concurrent data structures. The core idea behind the approach is relaxation of the order of executed operations. For example, a relaxed priority queues only requires the elements returned by delete-min operation to be sufficiently close to the minimum. Similarly, in a relaxed queue or stack, the removed elements are close to the first or the last one, respectively. There are multiple evidences that, on most workloads, relaxed data structures outperform data structures with strict semantics and ensure acceptable degrees of operation reordering. In this work we approve our approach on the example of a distributed queue, evaluate its efficiency and compare it with the other implementations of distributed lists.

Data mining technology is widely utilized in the field of computer criminal forensics. The research of data mining technologies, such as frequent itemset mining, clustering etc., can effectively improve the efficiency of computer forensics. However, data items of streaming data are dynamically changed along with time, which triggers off some new challenges to computer forensics. To address this issue, this paper presents an adaptive sliding window based strategy for mining the main frequent itemsets on streaming data. The key idea is to dynamically adjust the size of sliding window by exploiting the time-varying feature of streaming data, in order to satisfy the concept change that occurs in the streaming data. The experimental results show that compared with the previous work, the proposed algorithm can superiorly adapt to the time-varying feature of streaming data, and dramatically enhance time performance by reducing the data size for mining.

This research aims to develop students' performance assessment instrument based on scientific approach is valid and reliable in assessing the performance of students on basic physics lab of Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM). This study uses the ADDIE consisting of stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The student performance assessment developed can be used to measure students' skills in observing, asking, conducting experiments, associating and communicate experimental results that are the '5M' stages in a scientific approach. Each grain of assessment in the instrument is validated by the instrument expert and the evaluation with the result of all points of assessment shall be eligible to be used with a 100% eligibility percentage. The instrument is then tested for the quality of construction, material, and language by panel (lecturer) with the result: 85% or very good instrument construction aspect, material aspect 87.5% or very good, and language aspect 83% or very good. For small group trial obtained instrument reliability level of 0.878 or is in the high category, where r-table is 0.707. For large group trial obtained instrument reliability level of 0.889 or is in the high category, where r-table is 0.320. Instruments declared valid and reliable for 5% significance level. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the student performance appraisal instrument based on the developed scientific approach is declared valid and reliable to be used in assessing student skill in SHM experimental activity.

For promising performance boost, recent trends of modern data centers tend to use Persistent Memory (PM) as storage and utilize the one-sided feature of Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) to directly access PM for I/O requests. However, accessing PM through one-sided RDMA faces two challenges: one-sided data races and remote data crash consistency. Existing systems that employ server-bypass mechanism either abandon server-bypass write to avoid the challenges at the cost of extra server loads, or support both server-bypass read/write through inefficient concurrency control without ensuring remote crash consistency. In this paper, we propose a novel server-bypass RDMA-to-PM framework, named Forca, to provide high concurrency and guarantee remote crash consistency at the same time. In Forca, we design an optimized log-structured mechanism to eliminate in-place updates, removing race conditions of one-sided RDMA and providing atomicity for each update simultaneously. We implement Forca as a generic module to support server bypass RDMA to PM, and conduct experiments on a Forcabased key-value store called ForcaKV. The experiments show that Forca achieves higher throughput than state-of-the-art techniques by up to 1.4x under high concurrency scenarios, and its crash consistency mechanism incurs only 14.7 %-19.1 % time overhead.

The purpose of the study was the construction and testing of student characteristic models for predicting the performance of 162 students on several dependent measures of computer programming achievement under generic setting and treatment conditions. The dependent measures were tests for program reading and writing, lab problems, composite performance and relative course success categories. Student characteristics were measured within the categories of demography, academic background, ability and personality; ability measures included iconic pattern detection, vocabulary, analogies and algorithmic and quantitative problem solving; personality measures included self-assessments of abilities, motivations and computer attitudes, and Gittenger's cognitive *** predictor models accounted for 59%, 56%, 27% and 64% of the variance for the reading, writing, lab and composite measures of programming achievement, respectively. The composite achievement model also placed students into course success categories with 87% *** analysis results led to the following conclusions:Different sets of student characteristics were associated with the dependent measures; the strongest linkages were quantitative ability and high school grades to reading, verbal ability, negative computer attitudes inverse and achievement motivation to writing, age, introvert/regulated cognitive style and female gender to lab, and a blend of ability and personality measures to composite *** and personality were more effective than previous academic performance in predicting course *** iconic pattern detection ability and self-assessed math ability enhanced *** with basic introvert/regulated cognitive style performed significantly better than students with extrovert/flexible *** school computer coursework, positive computer attitudes and self-assessed programming ability were all unrelated to *** students who dropped and those who
