OpenFOAM is a widely used numerical simulation software, and Discontinuous Galerkin method (DGM), a high-order numerical method, has been developed on OpenFOAM. In order to obtain meaningful numerical simulations, curve boundary is needed, but it has not been implemented on OpenFOAM. In this paper, based on codeStream function of original OpenFOAM, we design and implement curve boundary interface with reference to the interface of original OpenFOAM, so that users can use C++ code to describe curve boundary. Furthermore, in order to move the high-order points on the linear boundary to the curve boundary, we propose an algorithm to move each high-order point to a specific position on the curve, where the normal of this position passes through the origin point. Experimental results based on the flow around a cylinder show that curve boundary is needed by DGM numerical simulation, and DGM high-order simulation is much more efficient than DGM low-order. Typically, when the error of drag coefficient is about 0.03, the DGM high-order can save 89.6% time cost and 83.0% memory cost.

The demand on broadband wireless telecommunications has been growing significantly during last few decades. The basic MIMO concepts are introduced in easy way to be understood so well. MIMO with different scenarios of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), and MIMO Channel Capacity (C) versus Bit Error Rate (BER) and Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) are tested by MATLAB program and the results are showed that the MIMO technique will be the key technology providing the need of high data rate and high performance in wireless communication uses. In fact, MIMO system can increase the data throughput of the communication system without additional bandwidth or increased transmit power Moreover, MIMO can be adaptively combined to other communication techniques to get high of quality performance of desired system. Furthermore, the complexity of MIMO technology can be reduced and the capacity is increased by using Selection Antennas (SL) method. This method promised the best performance of MIMO when the some antennas are selected from whole MIMO's Antennas. It is clear that MIMO technique gives the idea to guarantee the best communication, high efficiency bandwidth and quality between transmitted antenna signal and received antenna signal. Increased capacity, coverage, and reliability are clearly evident from the test results presented in this paper.

In recent years, intelligent mathematics problem solving has aroused the interest of researchers. In the intelligent mathematics problem solving system related to high school, the classification of statistical graph is a key step. Consequently, the classification of statistical graphs has become an urgent problem to be solved. In this paper, a new method is proposed for statistical graphs classification. Firstly, the image features of statistical graphs are obtained by spatial pyramid matching using sparse coding (ScSPM). The extracted features are then fed into classifier: support vector machine (SVM). In this paper, a new statistical graph dataset was established to evaluate the proposed method. It contains 400 statistical graphs including line graphs, histograms, scatter plots, and pie charts. Experimental results on the established dataset demonstrate that the proposed statistical graphs classification method achieves better performance.

Distinguishing and tracking moving object is one of the most critical tasks in computer vision. A tracker with high speed and precision is required in the real-world object tracking. The correlation filtering tracking approaches have attracted much attention because of its high-speed and robustness. Spatio-Temporal Context (STC) tracker exploits the context information around the target, and improves the tracking performance. For further improving the efficiency and robustness, in the paper, we propose to construct the object appearance using color attributes in STC tracker. Color attributes can be computed efficiently and possess high discriminative power. Experiment results demonstrate that the spatio-temporal context tracker with color attributes can obtain superior performance in real-world tracking.

This paper proposes to improve read performance of LDPC based flash memory by exploiting process variation (PV). The work includes three parts. First, a block grouping approach is proposed to classify the flash blocks based on their reliability. Second, based on the grouping approach, a read data placement scheme is proposed, which is designed to place read-hot data on flash blocks with high reliability. However, simply placing read-hot data to high reliable blocks conflicts with recent PV-aware wear leveling schemes. In the third part of the work, a grouping partition scheme is proposed to limit the number of high reliable blocks for read-hot data. In this case, read performance can be well improved with little impact on the lifetime improvement.

computer systems with multiple tiers of memory devices with different latency, bandwidth, and capacity characteristics are quickly becoming mainstream. Due to cost and physical limitations, device tiers that enable better performance typically include less capacity. Such heterogeneous memory systems require alternative data management strategies to utilize the capacity-constrained resources efficiently. However, current techniques are often limited because they rely on inflexible hardware caching or manual modifications to source code. This paper introduces MemBrain, a new memory management framework that automates the production and use of data-tiering guidance for applications on hybrid memory systems. MemBrain employs program profiling and source code analysis to enable transparent and efficient data placement across different types of memory. It automatically clusters data with similar expected usage patterns into page-aligned regions of virtual addresses (arenas), and uses offline profile feedback to direct low-level tier assignments for each region. We evaluate MemBrain on an Intel Knights Landing server machine with an upper tier of limited capacity (but higher bandwidth) MCDRAM and a lower tier of conventional DDR4 using a selection of high-bandwidth benchmarks from SPEC CPU 2017 as well as two proxy apps (Lulesh and AMG), and one full scale scientific application (QMCPACK). Our evaluation shows that MemBrain can achieve significant performance and efficiency improvements compared to current guided and unguided management strategies.

To resolve complex multiscale, multiphysics problems at high resolution, modern large-scale parallel scientific and engineering simulations with structured meshes have exceeded the scale of tens of billions mesh elements. In situ visualization play an important role in avoiding the slowest component of post-processing workflow on exasale architectures: accessing the file system twice with input/output bottlenecks. Tightly coupling in situ visualization with simulations requires minimum modification to existing code. Most previous in situ work has focused on achieving in situ visualization with individual simulation code with less regard to the promising parallel programming frameworks that can guarantee quick adaptation to a batch of simulation applications. In this paper, we present an in situ visualization infrastructure based on the parallel programming framework, J Adaptive Structured Meshes applications Infrastructure (JASMIN), which supports large-scale simulations with structured meshes. We describe an approach that opens up new applications for in situ visualization, the key technologies on which it depends, and our experiences of integrating our infrastructure into two domain-specific simulations. © 2017.

Photographic Appearance Enhancement via Detail-Based Dictionary Learning

A number of edge-aware filters can efficiently boost the appearance of an image by detail decomposition and enhancement. However, they often fail to produce photographic enhanced appearance due to some visible artifacts, especially noise, halos and unnatural contrast. The essential reason is that the guidance and the constraint of high-quality appearance are not sufficient enough in the process of enhancement. Thus our idea is to train a detail dictionary from a lot of high-quality patches in order to constrain and control the entire appearance enhancement. In this paper, we propose a novel learning-based enhancement method for photographic appearance, which includes two main stages： dictionary training and sparse reconstruction. In the training stage, we construct a training set of detail patches extracted from some high-quality photos, and then train an overcomplete detail dictionary by iteratively minimizing an？1-norm energy function. In the reconstruction stage, we employ the trained dictionary to reconstruct the boosted detail layer, and further formalize a gradient-guided optimization function to improve the local coherence between patches. Moreover, we propose two evaluation metrics to measure the performance of appearance enhancement. The final experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of our learning-based enhancement method.

3D architectures are considered the most promising approach to continuously increasing memory density and reducing cost/bit for NAND flash memory by stacking more layers. However, 3D MLC flash memory brings two serious problems, referred to as cell-to-cell program disturbance and big block problem. To solve the disturbance problem for better reliability, we proposed a Disturbance Compensation programming Scheme (DCPS). Based on quantitatively analyzing the disturbance from each direction in 3D flash memory, the scheme accordingly set the verify voltage (V-V FY) a little lower than the original value when Incremental Step Pulse programming (ISPP) is performed. After disturbance compensation, the threshold voltage of flash cells can shift towards the ideal distribution. Moreover, Read reference Voltage Shifting (RVS) and Artificial Compensation (AC) strategies on margin pages are introduced to adapt to the three-dimensional structures to further enhance reliability. To solve big block problem, Multiple-Level-Queue page allocation (MLQ) is proposed. We use multiple queues to filter the logical addresses of different update counts and choose different data blocks to respond. The stored data are gradually well organized and generate less data migration when performing garbage collection. Experimental results show that our design reduces the disturbed BER by at least 82% with respect to a FTL with traditional allocation and garbage collection scheme. Besides, we demonstrate MLQ can achieve more effective results than the state of the art scheme in the big block environment. The write amplification, I/O response time and the number of erasures are reduced by 31.2%, 22.2% and 14.6% on average, respectively.

Facial landmark detection, as a typical and crucial task in computer vision, is widely used in face recognition, face animation, facial expression analysis, etc. In the past decades, many efforts are devoted to designing robust facial landmark detection algorithms. However, it remains a challenging task due to extreme poses, exaggerated facial expression, unconstrained illumination, etc. In this work, we propose an effective facial landmark detection system, recorded as Robust FEC-CNN (RFC), which achieves impressive results on facial landmark detection in the wild. Considering the favorable ability of deep convolutional neural network, we resort to FEC-CNN as a basic method to characterize the complex nonlinearity from face appearance to shape. Moreover, face bounding box invariant technique is adopted to reduce the landmark localization sensitivity to the face detector while model ensemble strategy is adopted to further enhance the landmark localization performance. We participate the Menpo Facial Landmark Localisation in-the-Wild Challenge and our RFC significantly outperforms the baseline approach APS. Extensive experiments on Menpo Challenge dataset and IBUG dataset demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed RFC.
