CRYSTALS-Kyber is a powerful Post-Quantum Cryptography(PQC) with high resistance to quantum computer attacks. In order to optimize the core sampling structure of Kyber so as to improve the hardware execution efficiency, this paper proposes a high-performance rejection sampling hardware circuit design scheme for Kyber. The scheme first divides the input random numbers by width converter, and then combines four parallel sampling cores to shorten the sampling time period;then on the basis of the high parallelization of sampling cores, this work use the reorganization of random numbers and the bit-weighted value characteristics of binary numbers to design high-efficiency comparator to reduce the rejection rate, and reduce the sampling time and overhead;and finally, splice the valid inputs and set up a buffer to store the generated samples. The scheme is verified for its performance by testing under Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company(TSMC) 65nm process and FPGA implementation under Vivado platform. The experimental results demonstrate that the optimized sampling circuit reduces the rejection rate from 18.73% to 11.33% and shortens the sampling clock period by 80.84% compared to the basic implementation;comparing with the related work, it reduces the area by 67.77% while controlling the sampling time, and the consumption of hardware resources is greatly reduced, which improves the efficiency of the hardware execution of the Kyber rejection sampling. © 2023 IEEE.

When solving ordinary differential equations in C/C++ libraries, the ODE's right-hand-side is hard-coded and compiled ahead of time. This kind of static binding technique make it hard for dynamic task balancing and on-demand interaction between GPU and CPU. In this issue, a high performance text based ODE solver is proposed with Just-In-time compiling and coupled CPU-GPU computing properties. Experimental result shows the promising performance compared with native compiled binary codes. © 2022 IEEE.

Math Word Problem (MWP) is a challenging Natural Language Processing (NLP) task. Existing MWP solvers have shown that current models need to generalize better and obtain higher performances. In this study, we aim to enrich existing MWP datasets with high-quality data, which may improve MWP solvers' performances. We propose several data augmentation methods by applying minor modifications to the problem texts and equations of English MWPs datasets which contain equations with one unknown. Extensive experiments on two MWPs datasets have shown that data created by augmented methods have considerably improved performance. Moreover, further increasing the training samples by combining the samples generated by the proposed augmentation methods provides further performance improvements. © 2023 IEEE.

Collective operations that involve multiple or all processes/threads within a parallel program are critical in multicore chips and parallel systems, particularly for data-intensive applications. However, many existing electrical network systems struggle to efficiently support these operations, leading to significant overhead and reduced performance. Optical solutions have been proposed to address the challenges due to their high-speed transmission and low-power consumption. Moreover, the synergy between photonic technologies and Residue Number System offers an efficient alternative for computing because of their high parallelism and the opportunity for compute-in-network capabilities. Here, we propose PRACO, a Photonic Residue-Number Architecture for Collective Operations. It establishes a photonic network at the chip level to accelerate communication, computation, and synchronization among multi-cores in the system. Moreover, its compute-in-network capability allows for performing computations during data transmission, which minimizes data movement and further reduces latency and power consumption. Furthermore, the network enables high-speed synchronization barriers, which allows faster coordination between cores, improving overall system efficiency. Compared to an electrical network, our simulation results show that PRACO achieves up to an order of magnitude speedup for collective operations, along with a significant decrease in energy consumption. © 2024 IEEE.

For many applications. remote guidance and telerobotics provide great advantages. For example, tele-ultrasound can bring much-needed expert healthcare to isolated communities. However, existing tele-guidance methods have serious limitations. A new concept called human teleoperation leverages mixed reality, haptics, and high-speed communication to provide tele-guidance that is more. tightly coupled than existing methods yet more accessible than telerobotics. This paper provides an overview of the human teleoperation concept and its application to tele-ultrasound. The concept and its impact are discussed, the graphics, communications, controls, and haptics subsystems are explained, and results are presented that show the system's efficacy. These include tests of the communication architecture, of human performance in tracking mixed reality signals, and of human teleoperation in a limited clinical use-case. The results show good potential for teleultrasound. as well as possible other applications of human teleoperation including remote maintenance, inspection, and training.

The implementation of Support Vector Machine (SVM) for processing high-dimensional datasets and achieving both accuracy and fast response times poses substantial challenges, especially with the growing size of modern datasets and feature dimensions. To address these challenges, this paper introduces MSDF- SVM, a novel approach that exploits the parallelism and digit-level pipelining capabilities of FPGA devices and leverages online arithmetic. The proposed method takes advantage of an efficient dot-product unit for computing distances to support vectors and then detects their signs. This process is done on incoming data samples in a serial manner, which reduces the area and memory requirements for each classifier instance. This allows for the optimal utilization of parallel instances based on the target FPGA devices. MSDF-SVM dynamically terminates unnecessary computations, which occurred over 65.6% on average, resulting in a considerable energy reduction. Notably, this work represents the first effective utilization of online arithmetic to design an SVM accelerator. Experimental evaluations on real-world applications, including voice gender detection and emotion classification, demonstrate the remarkable performance improvements and reduced energy consumption achieved by MSDF-SVM compared to previous designs.

Annotating object ground truth in videos is vital for several downstream tasks in robot perception and machine learning, such as for evaluating the performance of an object tracker or training an image-based object detector. The accuracy of the annotated instances of the moving objects on every image frame in a video is crucially important. Achieving that through manual annotations is not only very time consuming and labor intensive, but is also prone to high error rate. State-of-the-art annotation methods depend on manually initializing the object bounding boxes only in the first frame and then use classical tracking methods, e.g., adaboost, or kernelized correlation filters, to keep track of those bounding boxes. These can quickly drift, thereby requiring tedious manual supervision. In this paper, we propose a new annotation method which leverages a combination of a learning-based detector (SSD) and a learning-based tracker (REcubed 3). Through this, we significantly reduce annotation drifts, and, consequently, the required manual supervision. We validate our approach through annotation experiments using our proposed annotation method and existing baselines on a set of drone video frames. The deep stereo models have achieved state-of-the-art performance on driving scenes, but they suffer from severe performance degradation when tested on unseen scenes. Although recent work has narrowed this performance gap through continuous online adaptation, this setup requires continuous gradient updates at inference and can hardly deal with rapidly changing scenes. To address these challenges, we propose to perform continual stereo matching where a model is tasked to 1) continually learn new scenes, 2) overcome forgetting previously learned scenes, and 3) continuously predict disparities at deployment. We achieve this goal by introducing a Reusable Architecture Growth (RAG) framework. RAG leverages task-specific neural unit search and architecture growth for continual learning of new scenes. During growth, it can maintain high reusability by reusing previous neural units while achieving good performance. A module named Scene Router is further introduced to adaptively select the scene-specific architecture path at inference. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves compelling performance in various types of challenging driving scenes.

Anecdotal evidence of cannabis use by professional programmers abounds. Recent studies have found that some professionals regularly use cannabis while programming, even for work-related tasks. However, accounts of the impacts of cannabis on programming vary widely and are often contradictory. For example, some programmers claim that it impairs their ability to generate correct solutions, while others claim it enhances creativity and focus. There remains a need for an empirical understanding of the true impacts of cannabis on programming. This paper presents the first controlled observational study of cannabis's effects on programming ability. In medical image analysis, accurate 3D brain tissue segmentation is crucial. This study undertakes a meticulous comparative evaluation of two 3D segmentation models: the established 3DUnet and the innovative 3DUnet Transformer. The assessment is anchored on the segmentation accuracy of three critical brain tissue classes;Whole Tumor (WT) Enhancing Tumor (ET) and Tumor Core (TC), with the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) serving as the principal metric of performance. 3DUnet model demonstrated a consistent advantage over the 3DUnet Transformer, yielding superior DSC scores for ET (0.771 vs. 0.753), WT (0.891 vs. 0.874), and TC (0.804 vs. 0.779). Complementing the DSC, the Hausdorff distance was employed as an additional metric, further evidencing the 3DUnet's enhanced precision in segmentation with lower distance values across the board. These findings highlight the 3DUnet's robust performance and its potential to significantly refine brain tissue segmentation processes within medical imaging applications. © 2023 IEEE.
