Digitized histology images are analyzed by expert pathologists in one of several approaches to assess pre-cervical cancer conditions such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Many image analysis studies focus on detection of nuclei features to classify the epithelium into the CIN grades. The current study focuses on nuclei segmentation based on level set active contour segmentation and fuzzy c-means clustering methods. Logical operations applied to morphological post-processing operations are used to smooth the image and to remove non-nuclei objects. On a 71-image dataset of digitized histology images (where the ground truth is the epithelial mask which helps in eliminating the non epithelial regions), the algorithm achieved an overall nuclei segmentation accuracy of 96.47%. We propose a simplified fuzzy spatial cost function that may be generally applicable for any n-class clustering problem of spatially distributed objects.

In this work, we use quantum color cellular automata to study pattern formation and imageprocessing in quantum-diffusion Schrödinger systems with triplet-valued (color-valued) diffusion coefficients. Triplet numbers have the real part and two imaginary parts (with two imaginary units ϵ 1 and ϵ 2, where ϵ 3 =1 ). They form 3-D triplet algebra. Discretization of the Schrödinger equation gives quantum color cellular automata with various triplet-valued physical parameters. The process of excitation in these media is described by the color Schrödinger equations with the wave functions that have values in triplet algebras. The color Schrödinger metamedia can be used for creation of the eye-prosthesis. The color metamedium suggested can serve as the prosthesis prototype for perception of the color images.

Segmentation is one of the important elements in imageprocessing. There are various types of algorithms that have been developed by researchers, for segmenting the interesting area for classification and identification purposes. This paper, presents the pupil segmentation using logarithmic transformation (LT) and power law transformation (PLT). It is obviously seen in most of the work on pupil segmentation where assumption is made that the pupil has a homogeneous circular. However, there are cases where the shape of pupil is inhomogeneous, for instance, in synechia case. Therefore, the use of circumference equation such as circular Hough transforms (CHT) and Daugman's Integra-differential operator (DIDO) for section the non-uniform pupil will produce inaccurate segmentation. We propose a new method for pupil segmentation using the combination of LT and PLT algorithm in order to enhance the pupil segmentation. The morphological operators and black white (BW) removal are used the segmentation of pupil. The proposed system uses CASIA v1, CASIAv3 Interval and MMU1 iris database. The results show his method gives accurate segmentation compared to CHT or DIDO technique.

This research addresses topical issues of creating industrial monitoring systems for chips, which are formed when materials are cut, based on light field-based optical detectors. A proposed scheme uses a light field (LF) method to register formed chips with an optical detector. An algorithms and monitoring methods for key geometric parameters of chip shapes are developed based on the analysis of images obtained from LF cameras. They feature digital image capturing and morphological analysis. For practical implementation of developed algorithms, National Instruments software platform is used. This research shows that the result accuracy in determining geometric characteristics of chips using the proposed solutions makes it possible to run diagnostics for cutting and material processing equipment.

In this article we describe some methods for automatic cortex layers decomposition and cortex cell registration. For Brodmann's layers decomposition, we use special density function calculation. Cell registration process consists of two steps: cell center detection and cell segmentation. To detect cell centers, we use an algorithm based on morphological operations. For cell segmentation, we use the inner ray casting method involving the calculation of intersections with Canny edges. We also propose a parallel version of our methods. Parallel implementation was developed using OpenMP. Performance characteristics of the implementation are also presented (C) 2018 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.v.

In this paper, we propose taking into account the architectural features of the processor at the stage of constructing the numerical method itself. This idea is illustrated by the example of the synthesis of a new difference scheme for the heat conduction equation, which has traditionally been the object of testing innovations in the theory of difference schemes. The architectural feature hierarchical structure of the computer memory chosen led to considerable communication costs even when a single hardware computational flow was used for organising the calculations. This feature is accounted for in computational linear algebra by using block algorithms, and in the theory of difference schemes, by using the technique of programming 'tiling'. However, for the two-layer difference schemes of block algorithms for solving grid equations, prior to the proposed work, it was not known because of the impossibility of organising block calculations by using the existing schemes. Here, we propose a new method of constructing two-layer difference schemes and a mixed scheme with a shift as an example of the application of this method. In the course of the experiments, a five-fold acceleration of calculations according to this scheme was demonstrated relative to the traditional explicit model, with the same computational complexity.
