The remarkable development of the medical imagery is due to the large use of telecommunications and information technologies in the medical domain. However, since the telemedicine is a medical act that must answer to stern rules, and follow the easiness that is offered by the informatics sciences to violate the confidentiality and authenticity of medical data. To resolve this problem, a lot of methods combining compression and encryption have been developed in the literature to secure the transmission and the storage of medical images. In this paper, we propose a new approach of partial encryption based on the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and compatible with the norm JPEG2000 in order to assure an optimal and a secure transmission and storage of medical images. This approach is, on one hand, faster since it permits a very important gain in the encryption-decryption processing time (only 6.25% of the DWT matrix coefficients will be encrypted), and on the other hand more efficient because it permits to get an encrypted medical image.

Three key factors for the image retrieval when using color characters are: color expression, color abstraction, and color similarity treasure. In this paper, authors develop a sub-block method based on the color characters to retrieve images. It is found that the image retrieval accuracy of the sub-block histogram method is superior to that of the conventional single global histogram method, but its image retrieval speed is slightly slower than that of the single global histogram method.

This paper represents a new spatial domain digital watermarking method, which can trade off between spatial domain and frequency domain approaches. This technique produces a watermarked image that closely retains the quality of the original host image while concurrently surviving various image processing operations such as lowpass/highpass filtering, lossy JPEG compression, and cropping. This image watermarking algorithm takes full advantage of permutation and 2-D barcode, which is PDF417 coding. The actual watermark embedding in spatial domain is followed using permutated image for improving the resistance to image cropping. Much higher robustness of watermark is obtainable via forward error correction (FEC) technique, which is the main feature of PDF417 codes. Additional features of this technique include the easy determination of the existence of the watermark and that the watermark verification procedure does not need the original host image.

In this letter an approach for double imageencryption practicing Double Random Phase Encoding (DRPE) technique that is based on Walsh lIadamard transform (WIIT) and fractional Fourier transform (FRT) is proposed. The encryption scheme incorporates Radial Hilbert Mask (RHM), Random Phase Mask (RPM) and fractional order as the keys. Using the 4-f system of DRPE twice in both the WHT and FRT domain, each image is encoded independently with the presented scheme. Matlab simulation tests demonstrate the increase in security level of the classical DRPE technique by the designed optical cryptosystem, and it has a superior insusceptibility to noise also. The efficiency and sensitivity of the presented scheme is tested by calculating MSE and PSNR. The histogram shows that the energy is conserved by using Walsh Hadamard transform and shows that the encrypted image is much easy to transfer due to the compression property of WHT.

Currently, research is focused on selective encryption to protect movies against attacks transmitted over a public network This choice is taken to ensure the security of compressed data without adding an important supplemental computational time for the encryption. So the encryption module is inserted into the video compression chain. In this paper we present an encryption method based chaos inserted in the H.264/AVC chain specially for the motion vectors signs. The results will be deducted according to the values of PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio), SSIM (Structural SIMilarity) and the encryption rate. Motion vectors signs encryption (MVSE) seems being interesting to lose the visual quality of the video for Inter predicted frames since movies are sensible to the motion sign.

The local features are as important as global features for content-based trademark image retrieval. This paper gives a trademark image retrieval method based on the features of sub-images together with global image information. We extract the sub-images for each candidate, and take the image for the sub-image of itself, and then use the features of sub-images for retrieval. We have tested our method on an image database containing 3000 binary trademark images and use PVR-component as the evaluation measure, experiments show that using local information together with the global information, the retrieval performance of our method is better than that of retrieval method based only on global features, and the retrieval result can fit the people's visual feelings well.

The atomic functions-based image processing system (AFIPS) is based on discrete atomic transform (DAT). It provides a combination of imageencryption and compression features with a machine learning-oriented data format. Taking into account the current data processing and analysis trends, applying AFIPS is promising. In this paper, a problem of its complexity reduction is considered. The new coding scheme, which ensures a significant decrease in the number of arithmetic operations, is proposed, and its efficiency exploration is given in terms of different indicators. In particular, it is shown that the proposed modification of AFIPS provides a higher compression ratio and, hence, greater memory savings when applying this algorithm with three modes of the DAT procedure: classic, block-splitting, and chroma-subsampling. Also, the suggested improvement reduces the time complexity that is illustrated by processing a satellite image dataset. In addition, the practical aspects of the further applications, including UAV image processing and analysis, are discussed.
