Medical imaging is an essential component of the healthcare sector, enabling the transfer of medical images between widely separated locations to improve healthcare business practices. However, the transmission of medical images across public networks can result in several security concerns, including those related to authentication, integrity, and confidentiality. Therefore, the major goal of this research is to ensure the security and accuracy of medical images by maintaining their confidentiality and integrity. This proposed method aims to enhance the security of medical images during their transmission across public networks. The method involves three main steps: compression, encryption, and embedding To achieve the goal of maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of medical images, this research utilizes a multi-step process. First, the medical image undergoes compression using the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique to reduce its size and eliminate any noise. Following this, the compressed image is encrypted using the Advanced encryption Standard (AES) algorithm to ensure confidentiality. Finally, the encrypted image is securely enclosed within a cover image using the Least Significant Bit (LSB) steganographic technique to create a stego image. This technique ensures that the encrypted image is seamlessly incorporated within the cover image, without any visible or perceptible changes. This method ensures that the medical image remains confidential and maintains its integrity throughout the transmission process. Furthermore, this study developed the aforementioned technique, and the experimental outcomes were compared using MATLAB to hide medical images without encryption using LSB steganography as an additional layer of security. This study analyzed multiple medical image formats, including DICOM, TIFF, BMP, and JPEG. This paper has proposed two image compression and decompression schemes for multispectral images. Two issues were considered in the proposed methods. The first issue is the possibility of applying the compression process directly to a set of multispectral images, where the standard JPEG should be applied to each individual image. Considering this issue, a compression and decompression method is proposed based on a hybrid of lower bit suppresion and Karhunen-Loeve transform and named as KLT Hybrid. The second issue is the possibility of obtaining a general codebook for a bulky of typical data such as a set of hyperspectral images. Considering this issue, another compression and decompression method is proposed based on vector quantization (VQ) where the general codebook is obtained by a proposed fair-share amount method. Four performance indicators were used to evaluate the results. The indicators include compression ratio, root mean square error, maximum absolute error, and signal to noise ratio. The experimental results have shown good performance indication of both methods.

In this paper, a novel post-processing method is proposed in wavelet domain for the suppression of blocking artifacts in compressed images. The novelty of new method is that we can obtain soft-threshold values based on the difference between the wavelet transform coefficients of image blocks and the coefficients of the entire image and threshold high frequency wavelet coefficients in different subbands using different values and strategies. The threshold value is made adaptive to different images and characteristics of blocking artifacts. In particular, the new method is robust, fast and works remarkably well for different DCT based compressed images at low bit rate. The method is nonlinear, computationally efficient and spatially adaptive. Another advantage of the new method is that it retains sharp features in the images after it removes artifacts. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a significantly improved visual quality in the images, and also increase PSNR in the output image. The algorithm can be used for real-time post-processing in DCT-based encoders and decoders.

Volume holographic associative storage in a photorefractive crystal has some special properties such as multichannal operation, parallel processing, and real-time response. It can provide a suitable mechanism to develop an optical correlation system for image recognition. In this paper, a practical image recognition system based on such mechanism is proposed and constructed. Wavelet packet theory is introduced in this system to solve the cross-talk as the same time to improve the parallelism and the storage capability of the system. Through the wavelet packet bases, a set of eigen-images, which are regarded as the reference images for recognition in the associative correlation, are extracted from the training images. Since wavelet packet transform can decompose information through different orthogonal bases in different depths, and different entropy can be used to evaluate the weight of each basis, the way to select the best analyzing bases which is corresponding to the best eigen-images then can be discussed and achieved. Furthermore, different kinds of wavelet packet and the number of training images also influence the way of selection. Basic theoretical analysis of these factors is presented, and experimental results are given for future research.

According to JPEG2000 image encryption algorithm based on confusion of the wavelet coefficients cannot support region-of-interest(ROI) image coding, an encryption method for ROI images is proposed. The proposed method Generates the confusion table using Chaotic sequences, confuses the Wavelet coefficients inside each code blocks, and encrypts the sign bits using Chaotic sequences. The experimental results show that the proposed method has lower affection to the compression ratio, and has the ability to provide adequate key space to resist the brute attack. The proposed method is important to support ROI image coding.

This paper presents a novel compression encoding/decoding method based on lift scheme for I-VOP. In traditional coding I-VOP algorithm, the textures and shapes are separately coded. and the macro-block DCT coding method is adopted in the coding texture and 16 x 16 BAB (Binary Alpha Block) coding method is employed in shape coding. The texture and shape coding method is not of embed feature. The algorithm based on lift scheme for I-VOP, the texture and shape at same time is coded and the bit streaming is of embed feature.

The medical imagery is a transverse activity for all medical disciplines. Its remarkable development is due to the large use of telecommunications and information technologies in the medical domain. However, since the telemedicine is a medical act that must answer to stern rules, and follow the easiness that is offered by the informatics sciences to violate the confidentiality and authenticity of medical data, the medical community is, actually, in state of opposition facing the computerization of data. To resolve this problem, a lot of methods combining compression and encryption have been developed in the literature to secure the transmission and the storage of medical images. This work presents a method of a partial or selective encryption for medical images. It is based on the integration of the encryption in a compression process based on the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) in order to reduce the processing time in the encryption-decryption operation. The results of several experiments show that the proposed scheme is rapid, efficient, secure and it perfectly preserves the performances of the new one. (C) 2017 The Authors. With the advent of the multimedia & information technology, the medical images play a significant role in the field of Teleconsulting, Telediagnosis & Telesurgery, where an enormous amount of medical data needs to be securely transferred over the public network, especially, in the field of Remote Telesurgery, where the surgeons and the patient are separated by miles of distances. For the network transferred image, the integrity and confidentiality is a major issue, as the tampering of the medical images, results in serious issues in diagnosis and also treatment. This paper focuses on enhancing the integrity of the network transferred biomedical data along with its lossless compression. The segmentation of the Region of Interest (ROI) of the host biomedical image and the computation of the hash digest of the ROI by the Message Digest5 (MD5) algorithm would perform the partial encryption. It is followed by the Steganography of the biomedical image with the concatenated hash digest, ROI coordinates & patient data. Finally, a Wavelet based lossless compression is performed, for the sake of bandwidth & storage space, during transmission. The extraction phase verifies the integrity of the received data by comparing the hash digests. The performance of the proposed system was evaluated by various biomedical images with its PSNR and MSE.

Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) is a way to keep information secure. It is better than RSA because it can provide the same level of security with smaller codes. This causes less use of resources and lower memory needs. ECC surpasses RSA in several aspects, including lower bandwidth usage, faster computational times, and smaller key dimensions. Moreover, ECC can be effectively employed for image encryption. This paper explores the application of ECC in image encryption using MATLAB as the platform, delving into the processes of encryption, compression, and decryption. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel content-based image-retrieval scheme that allows us to use a mixture of plain images and compressible encrypted ones called "encryption-then-compression (EtC) images."In the proposed scheme, extended SIMPLE descriptors are extracted from EtC images as well as from plain ones, so the mixed use of plain and encrypted images is available for image retrieval. In an experiment, the proposed scheme was demonstrated to have almost the same retrieval performance as that for plain images, even with a mixture of plain and encrypted images. © 2022 IEEE.
