Recently, advancements in the field of artificial intelligence have led to increasingly performant algorithms in computer vision and natural language processing. The evolution of these algorithms has facilitated considerable progress in embodied scenarios, allowing for unprecedented performance of autonomous agents in a variety of real-world use cases. Operating in hazardous environments is one such use case and presents an opportunity for autonomous systems to perform dangerous tasks in place of human experts. As the potential for sensor damage in these environments is high, it is important to develop resilient systems that mitigate this risk. In this work, we propose Diffusion-based View Translation (DDVT), a novel computer vision algorithm, as a method that leverages the diversity of multi-agent systems to improve their resilience to sensor damage. Specifically, DDVT allows for sensor translation between a healthy sensor on one agent and a damaged sensor on another agent. We frame this translation as an image to image problem and leverage generative models to perform view translation between different perspectives. We design a multiagent system consisting of a drone and ground vehicle and benchmark our approach on an autonomous navigation task using an off-the-shelf, state of the art driving model enhanced with DDVT. We achieve significant improvement in the navigation task when using DDVT to restore a damaged sensor and hope that this work inspires future research in cross-agent sensor translation.

In spaceborne SAR image processing, focusing algorithms are applied with a uniform altitude throughout the observation area. The uniform altitude assumption shows good performance in most spaceborne SAR systems. However, in the high resolution (<0.5m) SAR systems, the defocusing becomes significant in areas with high topographic variations. This letter proposes a new post refocusing algorithm capable of improving the focusing quality of the image with large rolling terrain. Simulate data of spaceborne SAR system are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach.

This study develops a contactless and real-time image processing system to calculate occupants' metabolic rates using deep learning and remote sensors. Capturing activities with a camera and processing data with Roboflow and YOLOv8, it provides precise metabolic rate data needed in the calculation of thermal comfort based on ASHRAE 55 standards. The system demonstrated a processing time between 400 to 550 milliseconds, at 99.76% accuracy in estimating collective metabolic rate counting the number of occupants. The system shows strong robustness in counting occupants with a sensitivity of 91.98%.

image enhancement technology plays an important role in the practical application of detecting underwater tunnels. By improving image quality, it enhances the accuracy and reliability of detection results. However, in deep-sea scenes, the problem of image color distortion and detail loss is common. To address this issue, a real-time underwater image enhancement algorithm based on weighted multi-branch correction has been proposed in this paper. The algorithm uses a combination of multi-scale and multi-branch techniques to process the image. The multi-branch correction module has been improved by increasing the weighting and downsampling strategy, which not only improves the processing speed but also ensures the processing effect. In the air-frequency domain interactive processing module, zero padding and window functions have been introduced to reduce the ringing effect and block effect. In addition, the smart grid system provides stable power support for underwater tunnel search and rescue, which ensures the safety of the search and rescue environment and also provides a good experimental lighting environment for the image enhancement algorithm. At the same time, the model has been trained and validated using self-constructed real deep-sea datasets. The existing algorithms and the algorithm proposed in this paper have been compared and analyzed comprehensively. The experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper is better than the existing algorithms in terms of processing effect, and the processing speed is improved by about 12.7%.

Millions of people worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income nations, suffer from anemia, a common health problem. The disease is characterized by a lack of hemoglobin or red blood cells, which can result in symptoms including weakness and exhaustion as well as serious consequences if ignored. Conventional techniques for identifying anemia usually entail intrusive blood tests, which can be expensive, time-consuming, and sometimes unavailable to a large number of people. In order to overcome these obstacles, this study uses MATLAB to provide an automated, non-invasive method for detecting anemia via fingernail image analysis. This project's main goal is to develop an effective and precise anemia screening tool by utilizing machine learning and image processing methods. The fingernail photos are taken by the system and pre-processed to improve quality and guarantee consistency. The technology uses sophisticated image processing techniques to extract pertinent elements from the fingernail photos, including texture and color characteristics that indicate hemoglobin levels. Machine learning algorithms use these traits to categorize the photos as either anemic or non-anemic. MATLAB is used because of its strong skills in machine learning and image processing. From picture capture and pre-processing to feature extraction and classification, the program streamlines the whole procedure. MATLAB's extensive toolkit makes it possible to manipulate photos effectively and has strong machine learning capabilities, which makes it the perfect platform for creating an automatic detection system. The system is guaranteed to be scalable, simple to install, and accurate through the use of MATLAB. Clinical data is used to thoroughly validate the system's functionality. The machine learning models are trained and tested using images from both non-anemic individuals and patients with clinically confirmed anemia. This scientific paper is an outcome of the MARIE project (for more information, see ***) [M04]. This paper provides an overview, on recent developments as well as future challenges and prospects in measurement methods and algorithms for the determination of an object’s geometrical shape, its position, and its electromagnetic properties using FMCW radar sensors. The current research integrates radar imaging techniques with material characterization algorithms to evaluate the dielectric constant and losses, leveraging ultrawideband systems to capture dispersive features and enable µm-precise localization. Unlike single antenna synthetic aperture radar (SAR) methods, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar enhances imaging by capturing data from multiple channels and varying incident angles, enriching the information obtained. In conjunction with sensor calibration methods and radar-based material characterization, these imaging techniques provide a mobile platform for spatially resolved, precise reflection measurements in magnitude and phase that are used to derive the electromagnetic properties and, subsequently, to provide a semantically annotated material image. Due to the short wavelength and large apertures near-field wave propagation effects must be incorporated into the signal processing to achieve µm-precise ranging and imaging. Furthermore, the impact of environmental influences on the measurement accuracy must be investigated.

Road safety has become increasingly crucial in many countries in recent years. Vehicle-related traffic accidents have increased significantly in frequency. Road accidents are more likely as there are more automobiles on the road, which increases traffic. A considerable number of people face accidents every year. The effects range from low to high. One of the most crucial pieces of information that cars use to navigate is the traffic sign, and autonomous driving and intelligent transportation systems both rely heavily on the recognition of traffic signals. The fundamental goal of traffic signs is to warn drivers about changes in the road, speed restrictions, and other factors in order to promote safe driving. In this project, the performance of the YOLOv5 object detection algorithm is investigated for detecting and reading traffic signs in real-world scenarios. A dataset of traffic sign images labeled with individual sign readings is collected using Roboflow. The pre-trained YOLOv5 model is fine-tuned on this dataset, and its performance is evaluated using various metrics, such as precision, recall, and F1 score. The effectiveness of YOLOv5 is evaluated in comparison to other object detection algorithms, including Single-Shot Detector (SSD) and Faster Region-Based Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN). It is found that YOLOv5 achieves high accuracy and efficiency in detecting and reading traffic signs, outperforming other algorithms in terms of speed and memory usage. © 2023 IEEE.

Original region filling algorithms for image processing face challenges in computational complexity, limiting their use in real-time and resource-constrained applications. The proposed two-step method priorities efficiency. To streamline clustering, the image preprocessing first removes all-zero rows and columns, focusing the algorithm on informative data for identifying fill regions, without the need for explicit boundary detection. After filling occurs, it reintroduces the initially removed rows and columns to retain the original structure. This temporary zero removal boosts clustering efficiency while preserving data integrity. The proposed algorithm surpasses traditional methods, especially when dealing with large and single hole images, as evidenced by experimental results.

This research study explores the emerging area of quantum-inspired evolutionary algorithms (QIEAs) applied to high-dimensional data processing, with a focus on homeland security imaging systems. This work attempts to close the paradigm gap in image processing methodologies caused by the growing complexity of security threats. By combining the adaptive processes of evolutionary algorithms with the probabilistic reasoning inherent in quantum computing, the proposed technique creates a potent tool for managing the inherent difficulties of high-dimensional data. The main contribution of this study is the creation of a brand-new QIEA framework that is specifically designed for image analysis in security contexts and exhibits higher accuracy and efficiency than traditional techniques. The quantum bit representation and quantum gate operations, which have been cleverly tailored to the evolutionary algorithm structure, provide the methodological basis, and improve the search capacity in multidimensional data fields. An unparalleled degree of clarity and detail in security photography is made possible by this fusion, which is essential for threat identification and prevention. Experiments conducted on a variety of difficult datasets show that the suggested method is reliable for identifying important characteristics in complicated photos, which is a crucial component of homeland security applications. Beyond only addressing short-term security issues, this study establishes a standard for next investigations into quantum-inspired computing for image processing.
