With the advent of computer vision, there has been significant growth in the research and development of facial recognition based automated attendance systems. Although current systems have been successful in alleviating human interaction and manual efforts, there still exist several challenges such as severe misclassifications, undetectable face angles, and different lighting conditions which result in a drastic drop in the accuracy. The system introduced in this paper has achieved an overall accuracy of 93.33%. A concept termed the “two-tier authentication” method has been developed to improve the overall accuracy of the system and to integrate a mechanism of time allowance for students. This method facilitates granting attendance to students based on the number of recognized faces as well as the probability of each prediction allowing for a more robust method of marking attendance to students. The novelty of this approach is to introduce an accurate statistical sequence for the execution of a proxy-free automated attendance system that employs state-of-the-art algorithms. Composed of 3 distinct parts, every sub-system performs a specific task namely, face detection, generation of face embeddings (FaceNet), and face classification. A comparative study was carried out to select the most appropriate detection and classification algorithms where Faster R-CNN and Support Vector Classifier outperformed their corresponding competitors respectively.

video denoising is of great significance in video processing when shooting conditions are complex such as dynamic scenes and low light. Although existing algorithms have already achieved remarkable denoising performance, the inference time of them is usually impractical for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network architecture for video denoising. In contrast to other existing CNN-based methods, our approach utilizes different proportion convolutional kernel numbers in a block for extracting enriched features. Channel attention mechanism is integrated in the network to enhance the denoising performance. The network only needs three contiguous frames and noise map as inputs, which leads to a similar excellent running time to the state-of-the-art. We compare our method with different conventional algorithms VBM4D, VNLB and the state-of-the-art CNN-based method FastDVDnet. Experiment results indicate that our method outputs more convincing results in visual and more robustness than others in both peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index measure (SSIM) indexes.

This paper designs a feature extraction system for OCR inspection of integrated circuit chips. In this system the following algorithms were implemented: Sobel edge detection and FAST corner detection. The latest Xilinx Zynq-7000 was used to integrate the main part of the system into a single SoC. Parallel arithmetic units and digital modules were implemented on the programmable logic (PL) of Zynq-7000 to decrease system size, while programs running on the processing system (PS) of Zynq-7000 controlled the system work flow and provided display interface using open-source software such as Linux and OpenCV. Meanwhile, industry standard advanced extendable interface (AXI)buses were adopted to encapsulating standardized IP cores and build high speed data exchange bridges between units within Zynq-7000. The experimental results indicate that modern SoC systems are a high-efficiency platform for advanced embedded image processing, analysis and recognition applications.

Path tracking control is the key to ensure that the laser guided automated guided vehicles (LGAGVs) can deliver the goods to the designated place quickly and safely. However, it is very difficult to build accurate AVG dynamic model because of the variety of LGAGV dynamic types. In addition, a lot of manual test work is needed in traditional path tracking control, which makes the design of LGAGV path tracking challengeable. In this paper, the deep reinforcement learning (RL) is used to realize the design of LGAGV path tracking controller. Firstly, according to its characteristics, LGAGV path tracking problem is described as a Markov decision process (MDP) with continuous state and continuous action under the unknown transition probability. Then, a reliable control policy was learnt by LGAGV through the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) without any additionally exploring the possibilities. The simulation results show that the distance error and the stability of the control motor are better than the traditional model free algorithmic control when the angle error is fitting.

To solve the poor real-time problem of SIFT algorithm, the cooperative operation mechanism of multi-core algorithm on multi-thread mode is designed based on OpenMP software runtime. First, a collaboration mechanism between multiple processor cores is designed based on the multi-core operating framework. Then, a high-speed interaction method is designed for the data between different platforms based on the TCP/IP protocol. Finally, the experiment shows that this scheme can greatly make the processing speed up for highresolution image and effectively solves the real-time problem of the algorithm.

With the completion of the "Beidou-3" satellite navigation system (BDS-3), the Beidou-3 short message system (BDS3-SMS) will provide global services. Firstly, on the basis of the previous generation of short message system and the characteristics of BDS3-SMS, four transmission modes of BDS3-SMS are proposed. Secondly, the mathematical model of terminal selection optimization mechanism (STGM) for "Beidou-3" satellite-to-ground short message is established, and the multi-objective optimization problem of the model is solved based on the terminal selection improved Hungarian algorithm (TS-IHA). TS-IHA expands the transmission loss matrix and takes the path transmission loss between satellite and ground links, the satellite load balance index, and the terminal service satisfaction index as the optimization goals to achieve reasonable optimization of terminal power consumption, satellite resources and service requirements. The simulation results show that TS-IHA can enhance the optimization of STGM. The terminal and satellite system optimization results are improved.

Real-time ray-tracing debuted to consumer GPU hardware in 2018. Primary examples however, have been of hybrid raster and ray-tracing methods that are restricted to triangle mesh geometry. Our research looks at the viability of procedural methods in the real-time setting. We give implementations of analytical and implicit geometry in the domain of the global illumination algorithms bi-directional path-tracing, and GPU Photon-Mapping - both of which we have adapted to the new ray-tracing shader stages, as shown in Figure 1. Despite procedural intersections being more expensive than triangle intersections in Nvidia's RTX hardware, our results show that these descriptions still run at interactive rates within computationally expensive multi-pass ray-traced global illumination and demonstrate the practical benefits of the geometry.

Determinantal point processes (DPPs) are well known models for diverse subset selection problems, including recommendation tasks, document summarization and image search. In this paper, we discuss a greedy deterministic adaptation of DPPs. Deterministic algorithms are interesting for many applications, as they provide interpretability to the user by having no failure probability and always returning the same results. First, the ability of the method to yield low-rank approximations of kernel matrices is evaluated by comparing the accuracy of the Nyström approximation on multiple datasets. Afterwards, we demonstrate the usefulness of the model on an image search task. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accessibility of computer tomography scan devices led to the development of computer-aided diagnosis *** task is to increase the accuracy and speed of diagnosis process. Such systems provide for medics an additional data extracted from computer tomography scans. The set of computer tomography layers of multi-layer shot provides comprehensive information about inner structure of the examining object. Currently medics are just beginning to use the computer-aided diagnosis systems in their daily medical practice. But improvement of computer-aided diagnosis systems is actively developing field of research. Nowadays computer tomography is widespread in medical clinics. Complex of diagnostic procedures is frequently performed with use of contrasting dye. Although, tomography study with contrast dye use has contraindications and is much more expensive for patients. Along with development of tomography shots computer reconstruction methods, processing and analysis of images are improving. Ways of visualization improvement and images reconstruction were well investigated owing to their relative universality, while methods of images segmentation and objects of interest classification are developed to lesser extent as the applied approaches substantially depend on a solving task. Parametrization of the computer tomography shot objects allows extending diagnostic data available to medics and is a necessary step on the way to completely automatic classification of the studying objects on the basis of the received parameters values. In some cases the evaluation of numerical parameters of small anatomical structures is required. For example, if their pathological growth exists or their identification, measurement of volume and carrying out other examining are necessary. In the optical transmission of information, communication channels can be compressed by superposition of several spatial modes (with given weights carrying information) in one beam at the input of the transmitting system. This problem is quite effectively solved by diffraction optics using various coding methods. At the output of the transmitting system, recognition (detection) of a set of modes contained in the beam is required. In this case, rather complex multi-order optical elements are used, which make it possible to determine only the modulus of the coefficients. Subsequent digital processing is required to recover the relative phases of the coefficients. In this paper, we consider the problem of reconstructing the complex coefficients of the superposition of Hermite-Gaussian modes from the field intensity in a certain plane perpendicular to the propagation axis at a given distance using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm.
