MeMoS (Medical Model Sketcher), a software package that provides data required to reconstruct 3D medical models, basing on DICOM and RAW image sets, is presented. The uttermost objective of the software creation was to reduce a time needed to perform laborious data extraction process from medical images (necessary for the model reconstruction), without the need of purchasing expensive licenses for already existing programs. Obtained data can be used in any CAD software to recreate the spatial object. Generated 3D models of vascular systems can be used in numerical simulations so as to investigate the physical phenomena occurring in the circulatory system. Additionally, MeMoS is capable of creating datasets for texture analysis -that can be directly fed to the input of texture analysis software. Several results of the possible program output along with preliminary validation of implemented algorithms are outlined as well.

The Daniel K Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) will be the largest solar telescope in the world, providing a significant increase in the resolution of solar data available to the scientific community. Vibration mitigation is critical in long focal-length telescopes such as the Inouye Solar Telescope, especially when adaptive optics are employed to correct for atmospheric seeing. For this reason, a vibration error budget has been implemented. Initially, the FRFs for the various mounting points of ancillary equipment were estimated using the finite element analysis (FEA) of the telescope structures. FEA analysis is well documented and understood;the focus of this paper is on the methods involved in estimating a set of experimental (measured) transfer functions of the as-built telescope structure for the purpose of vibration management. Techniques to measure low-frequency single-input-single-output (SISO) frequency response functions (FRF) between vibration source locations and image motion on the focal plane are described. The measurement equipment includes an instrumented inertial-mass shaker capable of operation down to 4 Hz along with seismic accelerometers. The measurement of vibration at frequencies below 10 Hz with good signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) requires several noise reduction techniques including high-performance windows, noise-averaging, tracking filters, and spectral estimation. The huge growth in the smartphones market has led to the improvement in ARM architectures, so that today there are many devices based on them, with sufficient capacity to deal with certain imageprocessing applications. These are used in VSN (Visual Sensor Networks) and in other scenarios, where the energy used in the process is a parameter to be considered. In these scenarios, and with the HMP (Heterogeneous multiprocessing) architectures on which the current platforms are based, it is necessary to determine both the core as well as the working frequency in order to achieve the application's imageprocessing objectives with the least possible energy consumption. In this type of system, the workload is oriented towards interactive applications, so the priorities are different to those of VSN type systems. Conventional regulation algorithms do not make appropriate use of the processor's frequency range, in relation to the load. This paper analyses the influence of the maximum frequency value on system performance and power consumption.

It is a trend now that computing power through parallelism is provided by multi-core systems or heterogeneous architectures for High Performance Computing (HPC) and scientific computing. Although many algorithms have been proposed and implemented using sequential computing, alternative parallel solutions provide more suitable and high performance solutions to the same problems. In this paper, three parallelization strategies are proposed and implemented for a dynamic programming based cloud smoothing application, using both shared memory and non-shared memory approaches. The experiments are performed on NVIDIA GeForce GT750m and Tesla K20m, two GPU accelerators of Kepler architecture. Detailed performance analysis is presented on partition granularity at block and thread levels, memory access efficiency and computational complexity. The evaluations described show high approximation of results with high efficiency in the parallel implementations, and these strategies can be adopted in similar data analysis and processing applications.

Facebook is one of the most used socials networking sites. It is more than a simple website, but a popular tool of communication. Social networking users communicate between them exchanging a several kinds of content including a free text, image and video. Today, the social media users have a special way to express themselves. They create a new language known as "internet slang", which crosses the same meaning using different lexical units. This unstructured text has its own specific characteristics, such as, massive, noisy and dynamic, while it requires novel preprocessing methods adapted to those characteristics in order to ease and make the process of the classification algorithms effective. Most of previous works about social media text classification eliminate Stopwords and classify posts based on their topic (e.g. politics, sport, art, etc). In this paper, we propose to classify them in a lower level into diverse pre-chosen classes using three machine learning algorithms SVM, Naive Bayes and K-NN. To improve our classification, we propose a new preprocessing approach based on the Stopwords, Internet slang and other specific lexical units. Finally, we compared between all results for each classifier, then between classifiers results.

The Mojette transform has found several applications to this date. Some of them, such as systems for distributed file storage, or digital tomography systems exploit one of the main properties of Mojette transform - redundancy. However, sometimes this feature is not desirable. This is a case of applying Mojette transform for image encoding, or decoding. In these applications, higher rate of redundancy can cause longer processing times and bigger size of image data. These problems can be solved by group of procedures, which would work in a determined manner.
