In this paper a novel super-resolution wavefront extraction algorithm is introduced that merges the advantages of the efficiency correlation techniques based on [1] and super-resolution ability of DCM techniques [2]. The introduced ADCM algorithm is based on the correlation method DCM, but in contrast this algorithm uses a set of weighted differently shifted reference pulses. Due to the clustering of wavefronts the computational effort of the wavefront extraction is optimized. In the herein used set-up a low-cost, single chip radar operating from 57 GHz to 64 GHz is applied. The low-cost and low-weight radar is ideal for autonomous security robots where real-time conditions are necessary.

In digital imageprocessing various filters are provided to enhance the quality of image. Visibility of some parts in images are enhanced while suppressing the information in some parts of it. Fei Kou et al had found that L 0 norm is a useful mathematical formula to enhance the quality of the image by amplifying the edges present in the detail layer. However in this the problem of suppressing the desired information is not taken into account. In this letter, we are presenting L 0 norm and ant colony optimisation based filter which not only enhance the quality of the image but also suppress the unwanted wrinkles from the human faces, thus using the image enhancement algorithm from both perspective i.e. to enhance the quality of the detail layer as well as to suppress the unwanted information. Simulation results shows that the signal quality is improved and mean square error is considerably reduced using this approach. Moreover histogram equalisation of the image also get improved.

Literature shows a lot of lane detection algorithms can work in real time with good results. However, they require much computer processing and cannot be embedded in a vehicle ECU without deep software optimizations. In this paper, we discuss the embeddability of lane detection algorithms by comparing state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of functional performance and computational timing. We identify what essential parts of lane detection are time consuming, and show these parts can be computed in real time on embedded systems.

This paper presents a new algorithm for the detection and classification of real-time road traffic signs in the video. Our system is able to detect and classify triangular, circular, and octagonal signs of red and blue colors. The proposed system operates into two processing steps: (1) detection and (2) classification road signs. The system has detected candidate regions as Maximally Stable Extremal Regions (MSERs) in HSV color space with available robustness to variations in lighting conditions, especially red and blue. The detected candidate regions were then classified as method template matching, such as circular, octagonal, and triangular shapes. The proposed system is operating under a range of weather conditions and recognizes all classes of road traffic sign database. Results show a high success rate. In fact, the system maintains high performance for detection and classification steps whose F-measure are set to 0.95 and 0.92 respectively. We conclude, from these results, that the proposed system is invariant to rotation, translation, scale, even to partial occlusions. Moreover, results prove that the system is suitable and reliable for real-time processing.

The pulse wave signal contains a variety of noises and has strong nonlinear and non-stationary. According to the previous wavelet transformation method, this paper proposes a PPG signal de-noising algorithm based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DTCWT) and morphological filtering. With the advantage of simple construction, clear mathematical implications and low computational complexity, this method overcomes the shift sensitive and the frequency aliasing in the discrete wavelet transform. The simulation results show that this algorithm could remove the power line interference and EMG interference, and the quantitative index of SNR and mean square error is superior to the traditional threshold de-noising algorithm. Therefore, the DTCWT and morphological filtering de-noising algorithm would obtain a clear pulse wave signal.

Availability of hardware implementations of super-resolution image reconstruction algorithms is limited mostly by their logical and memory requirements. This is also the case for other imageprocessingalgorithms such as hyperspectral, image compression, image coding, video coding. In previous publications we have introduced a new execution flow that tackles the problem of high memory requirements of a restoration-interpolation super-resolution kernel by carrying out processing in a macroblock-by-macroblock manner. In this work we present the modelling framework used for the evaluation of the proposed execution flow. The modelling process is presented in a step-by-step manner by means of a real-life example of implementation of super-resolution image reconstruction with description of the choices made at every stage and explanation of the reasoning behind. In the presented case the use of the proposed frame-work led to a hardware implementation with real-time capabilities. This frame-work can be applied to similar algorithms, helping system designers in achieving better work organization and efficiency.

This paper presents an approach for the surface inspection of wire-type objects. The research aims to detect scratch defect of a wire rod. Scratch defect is caused by many reasons such as poor quality of raw material or malfunction of rolling process. The defects are very difficult to detect accurately due to the scale-covered background and uneven illumination. The inspection system is based on vision technology. imageprocessingalgorithms are applied for detecting scratch defects of wire rod. The detection algorithm is mainly divided into three steps. First, use wavelet transform to have texture analysis. In order to obtain more details, we take the approximation subimage at resolution level one as source image. Then, explain the Fast Line Segment Detector method and the detected results are illustrated using real defects from steel wire rods. But the complex backgrounds in images of wire rods inevitably result in false positive and false negative defects. Finally, apply postprocessing based on detection results. Compared with the classical methods, the results show that the applied algorithms have a good performance on scratch defect detection of wire rod. Moreover, it has an effective execution time proportional to the number of pixels in the image.

Glaucoma is an asymptomatic eye disease and one of the major causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. For this reason, there have been significant advances in automatic screening tools for early detection. In this paper, an automatic glaucoma diagnosis algorithm based on retinal fundus image is presented. This algorithm uses anatomical characteristics such as the position of the vessels and the cup within the optic nerve. Using several color spaces and the Stochastic Watershed transformation, different characteristics of the optic nerve were analyzed in order to distinguish between a normal and a glaucomatous fundus. The proposed algorithm was evaluated on 53 images (24 normal and 29 glaucomatous images). The specificity and sensitivity obtained by the proposed algorithm are 0.81 and 0.87 using Luv color space, which means considerable performance in diagnosis systems.

A fully-automatic ultrasound imageprocessing system that can determine the needle entry site for epidural anesthesia (EA) in real time is presented in this paper. Neither the knowledge of anesthetists nor additional hardware is required to operate the system, which firstly directs the anesthetists to reach the desired insertion region in the longitudinal view, i.e., lumbar level L3-L4, and then locates the ideal puncture site by instructing the anesthetists to rotate and slightly adjust the position of ultrasound probe. In order to implement these functions, modules including imageprocessing, panorama stitching, feature extraction/selection, template matching and support vector machine (SVM) classification are incorporated in this system. Additionally, a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI), which displays the processing results and guides anesthetists intuitively, is further designed to conceal the intricacy of algorithms. Feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system has been evaluated through a set of realtime tests on 53 volunteers from a local hospital.
