In recent years, Electroencephalogram (EEG) has gradually become one of the important means of early Parkinson's disease (PD) detection because of its non-invasive and real-time monitoring capability. This paper discusses the EEG signal analysis method from the effective feature extraction techniques and the application of traditional machine learning algorithms. Although traditional methods are able to provide some degree of feature interpretability, there are limitations in handling high-dimensional feature space and redundant features, resulting in decreased classification performance. Therefore, this paper proposes a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification model based on artificial channel optimization, through channel selection of EEG signals recorded by 64-lead devices, screening out the optimal channel combination highly related to PD, and then achieving efficient classification. Specifically, the study uses publicly available Parkinson's disease EEG datasets, employs power spectral density (PSD) features, and combines manual channel selection with the strong classification capabilities of SVM to achieve effective classification of PD EEG signals. In addition, the article highlights that model performance may vary on different datasets, and more clinical validation is needed in the future, and suggests to combine other machine learning technologies such as deep learning to further improve model performance.

Total focusing method (TFM), as the most effective post-processing technique for ultrasonic phased array imaging currently, can achieve focusing at any point within the detection area, possessing advantages of high resolution and signal-to-noise ratio that traditional phased array imaging methods lack. However, Total Focusing Method (TFM) imaging requires delay-and-sum processing of full matrix capture (FMC) data. If the number of elements involved in signal acquisition is N, the full matrix data will contain N A-scan signals, each containing thousands of sampling *** will result in long computation time and make it difficult to achieve real-time imaging. This paper proposes a fast total focusing method that combines elliptical arc scanning algorithm and OpenCL hardware acceleration, and deploys it to a self-developed ultrasound phased array imaging system. Results show that the fast total focusing method can generate a 512 × 512 pixel image with 32 elements in an average time of only 64 milliseconds, far surpassing the time required by conventional total focusing algorithms, providing a feasible approach for real-time high-precision non-destructive testing online.

The authors present the development of eyewear that incorporates stereoscopic and thermal imaging cameras for the purpose of highlighting objects/views of interest. image processing algorithms that simplify complex elements in a scene have the ability to improve the utility of blind and low vision aids. Thermal imaging can be used to highlight important objects such as people or animals, while stereoscopic imaging can be used to filter background imagery beyond a certain distance. The methods used have been successful in providing utility to retinal prosthesis users. The stereoscopic camera systems involved strict requirements on the relative orientation of the cameras for calibrated distance filtering. A mechanical design is presented that fixes the relative camera locations on a 3D printed titanium structure that can float in the frame to maintain orientations even when the eyewear is flexed during wearing.

This article proposes a distributed video AI super-resolution reconstruction solution based on MapReduce to address the issue of slow video super-resolution reconstruction in a single-machine environment. The solution utilizes scene detection algorithms and precise video segmentation algorithms to divide long videos into multiple video segments based on scenes. These segments are then assigned to different processing nodes for parallel processing, and finally merged to reduce the time required for video AI super-resolution reconstruction. Experimental results demonstrate that this solution effectively improves the speed of video AI super-resolution reconstruction. In addition, this article addresses the issues of low efficiency and low storage space utilization in the distributed storage system HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) when storing small files, specifically video segments. It proposes an optimized storage solution based on HDFS and Redis. This solution merges small files and constructs a small file merging and storage model on Redis, effectively alleviating the memory pressure on the NameNode in HDFS when storing a massive number of small files. Experimental results demonstrate that this solution sacrifices a certain degree of read/write performance but mitigates the rapid growth of NameNode memory. This solution holds significant theoretical and practical significance. © 2023 IEEE.

Gait as a biometric has become a popular research topic in recent years as a result of its numerous applications in sectors such as surveillance, authentication, and so on. It is capable of achieving detection at a distance that few other technologies can equal. It is still a difficult problem to solve since real human gait is influenced by several variable elements such as alterations in clothing, speed, and carrying situation. Also, unknown covariate circumstances may impact the training and testing settings for a specific individual in gait recognition. image sequences are typically used by computer-aided gait recognition systems without taking into account variables such as clothes and the contents of carrier bags while on the move. In this work, we provide a technique for selecting gait energy image-based (GEI) features, that is both effective and robust. The covariate factors have less impact on the given gait representation. A simple ten-layered convolutional neural network (CNN) is designed which intakes GEI as input. Several typical variations and occlusions that impact and worsen gait recognition ability are less susceptible to the suggested method. For both clothing and mobility variations, we used the CASIA datasets to assess our observations. The experimental findings reveal that in numerous circumstances, the deep neural network model created in this study achieved better results when compared with other existing algorithms.

Thermal imaging has long been utilized across industries to maintain electrical equipment and detect faults in machines, ensuring their reliable operation. Infrared thermography, or thermal imaging, has emerged as a powerful, non-contact, non-destructive monitoring tool. Unlike RGB imaging, it offers a non-intrusive approach that respects privacy and does not rely on ambient lighting. As heat signatures vary based on defects or machine conditions, infrared imaging is essential for effective condition monitoring. This survey study introduces the principles and applications of thermal imaging in fault detection and a comprehensive analysis of recent developments and approaches in the field. The survey encompasses various machine types, including electrical systems, mechanical components, and industrial equipment. Multiple techniques, algorithms, and deep learning models for image processing, feature extraction, and fault classification are extensively discussed. The paper also includes an in-depth literature review on fault detection in distinct machines, such as induction motors, rotating machines, and transformers. Most of the current low light image enhancement algorithms based on Retinex theory ignore the interaction between the reflection component and the illumination component, and some algorithms only take the reflection component as the enhancement target, which makes the enhanced image feel unnatural. In this paper, by optimizing the joint estimation of the reflection component and the illumination component, the solution model of the enhancement algorithm is transformed into a least squares problem and solved iteratively. In the iterative process, the estimated illumination component of each step is re-used in the estimation of the reflection component to fully release the interaction between the two components. In addition, we also propose an effective operator to extract fine details of the image to optimize the regular term, so that the enhanced image has richer details. Finally, we apply gamma correction to the estimated illumination component, making the image color more natural. On the three publicly available low light image datasets of LIME, MEF and NPE, the proposed algorithm and four mainstream algorithms in recent years are evaluated through three indicators that reflect the enhancement of image quality from different aspects. From the perspective of comprehensive performance of each indicator, the proposed algorithm has better comprehensive competitiveness.

With the development of digital image processing technology, the demand and application of wide-view video continue to grow. However, the existing stitching algorithms may result in unnatural appearance, misalignment, and ghosting issues when stitching scenes with inconsistent brightness or dynamic objects. To address the above problems, we propose a real-time multi-camera video stitching algorithm with adaptive sensing of illumination and dynamic objects. Within the proposed illumination compensation module, brightness equalization across varying illumination conditions is attained through the application of gain compensation to image blocks. We propose a histogram-based dynamic object detection approach to dynamically detect the presence of moving objects along the stitching seam. This method facilitates the adaptive detection of dynamic entities by analyzing the histogram disparities between the local vicinity of the stitching seam and the broader image context. The experimental results show that it can effectively solve the problem of unnatural stitching results arising from the uneven brightness of the image, and can effectively detect the presence of dynamic objects near the stitching seam so that the effect of the video stitching has been improved.

As the use of Healthcare Information Technology has continued to rise, the issue of safe transfer of medical information with especial emphasis on images has become a major concern. The findings of this study propose a new approach to the encryption of images that is well suited to applications in healthcare and which guarantees the safety of medical images over weak networks. This proposed algorithm successfully implements a chaotic encryption method alongside wavelet transformation so as to design an effective and virtually invulnerable encryption method that does not consume an excessively large amount of computing power. There is also a way for the algorithm to be tested on X-Ray, CT, and MRI images so that the algorithm is not confined to one particular imaging modality. Such results clearly prove that the proposed algorithm provide better performance than AES as well as RSA with respect to encryption speed and sensitivity of the keys. image quality after decryption is also maintained making it possible to retain important information about the patient's health. Due to the algorithms high security, efficiency and capability of processing data in real time healthcare environment the proposed algorithm, provides a feasible solution for securing sensitive healthcare information and is a worthy addition to the literature on healthcare data security. © 2024 IEEE.
