Lensless imaging systems eliminate the need for lenses by employing an encoding element to multiplex incident light signals, which are then captured directly onto a bare camera sensor. They present a promising alternative to traditional lens-based imaging systems by offering significant advantages in terms of compactness, versatility, and cost. Due to the multiplexed nature of measurements, image reconstruction takes place computationally. However, existing techniques for image reconstruction in lensless imaging fall short of the image quality offered by traditional lens-based imaging. In this work, we consider the application of diffusion models, a class of deep generative models, for image reconstruction in a lensless imaging modality. These models currently achieve state-of-the-art performance in image generation. Specifically, we focus on the PhlatCam lensless system, which consists of a coded phase mask as the encoding element placed close to the camera sensor. We use a ControlNet based diffusion model to improve the perceptual quality of image reconstruction. The performance is measured in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index measure (SSIM), and learned perceptual image patch similarity (LPIPS). The proposed method improves the performance in these metrics for synthetic measurements. For real measurements, the improvement in image quality comes at the expense of a small bias in color, which is attributed to the generative nature of the diffusion prior itself.

Marine litter detection is crucial for environmental monitoring, yet the imbalance in existing datasets limits model performance in identifying various types of waste accurately. This paper presents an efficient data augmentation pipeline that combines generative diffusion models (e.g., Stable Diffusion) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to expand the G-Litter dataset, a marine litter dataset designed for autonomous detection in heterogeneous environments. Leveraging scalable diffusion models for image generation and Alpaca LLMs for diverse prompt generation, our approach augments underrepresented classes by generating over 200 additional images per class, significantly improving the dataset's balance. Training G-Litter augmented dataset using YOLOv8 for object detection demonstrated an increase in detection performance, improving recall by 7.82% and mAP50 by 3.87% (compared with baseline results). This study emphasizes the potential for combining generative AI with HPC resources to automate data augmentation on large-scale, unstructured datasets, particularly in edge computing contexts for real-time marine monitoring. The models were tested on real videos captured during simulated missions, demonstrating a superior ability to detect submerged objects in dynamic scenarios. These results highlight the potential of generative AI techniques to improve dataset quality and detection model performance, laying the foundation for further expansion in real-time marine monitoring. © 2025 IEEE.

image scrambling is an essential technique in secure image transmission, designed to obscure visual data from unauthorized access while preserving the ability to recover the original content. This study investigates the application of five chaotic maps such as Logistic Map, Arnold Cat Map, Lorenz system, Henon Map and Tent Map for image scrambling. performance is evaluated using key metrics: Normalized Cross-Correlation (NCC), entropy, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) and time complexity. Results indicate that the Arnold Cat Map provides the highest entropy (5.8680) and strong decorrelation (NCC = 0.8715), making it ideal for high-security applications. The Logistic Map, with the fastest execution time (0.0039 seconds), is suitable for real-time applications, offering moderate security and good image quality (PSNR = 11.5170, SSIM = 0.0229). The Lorenz system exhibited the best decorrelation (NCC = 0.8657), but its high computational cost limits its use in time-sensitive environments. By comparing the PSNR and SSIM results, this study highlights the balance between visual quality and security, suggesting that chaotic maps can be tailored for specific s ecurity n eeds. The novelty lies in the systematic comparison of these chaotic maps, providing a comprehensive evaluation for optimizing security and performance.

Object identification is very important for modern defense systems because it helps ensure security and extends support in various operations. Realistic images come with issues of low contrast, motion blur, and noise, which ultimately affect detection performance. This research seeks to come up with ways of enhancing a procedure that enhances image quality and consequently detection. The method used here applies Histogram Equalization and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) to improve the contrast. Then, Gaussian Blur & Median Blur are used to mimic and reduce the motion blur effect and eliminate noise respectively. Finally, sharpening is done to highlight edges. As a result, the image quality has significantly improved. Sharper edges, improved contrast and less noise will help in better AI detection. In the future, we plan to add machine learning models to support real-time detection which will make the system adaptable to complex environments.

Aiming at the problem that it is difficult to detect thread surface defects, a set of thread surface defect detection system based on image processing is developed. It adopts non-contact, high-precision and real-time image processing technology, and combines image acquisition, preprocessing, defect detection and feature extraction modules. Through continuous debugging and optimizing the image processing algorithm, the accuracy and real-time performance of the detection system are ensured. The experimental results show that the system can effectively identify two major defects, solder joint defects and thread damage defects. In the test of multiple groups of thread samples, the system can accurately identify single solder joint defects, single thread damage defects and both solder joint defects and thread damage defects, which is consistent with the actual thread defect and has high detection accuracy. The thread surface defect detection system based on image processing improves the efficiency of thread detection, provides technical support for quality control and production automation of thread manufacturing industry, and provides a reference for thread surface defect detection.

In this paper, we present a novel architecture for interactive segmentation in winter sports contexts. The field of interactive segmentation deals with the prediction of high-quality segmentation masks by informing the network about the objects position with the help of user guidance. In our case the guidance consists of click prompts. For this task, we first present a baseline architecture which is specifically geared towards quickly responding after each click. Afterwards, we motivate and describe a number of architectural modifications which improve the performance when tasked with segmenting winter sports equipment on the WSESeg dataset. With regards to the average NoC@85 metric on the WSESeg classes, we outperform SAM and HQ-SAM by 2.336 and 7.946 clicks, respectively. When applied to the HQSeg-44k dataset, our system delivers state-of-the-art results with a NoC@90 of 6.00 and NoC@95 of 9.89. In addition to that, we test our model on a novel dataset containing masks for humans during skiing.11We will release code and the dataset upon publication: https://***/Schorob/skipclick © 2025 IEEE.

University campuses face a parking congestion due to limited space availability and inefficient parking management, leading to wasted time, increased fuel consumption, and traffic congestion. This study developed an intelligent parking management system-integrating image processing for automatic license plate recognition and Dijkstra's Algorithm to optimize route selection; ensuring drivers reach available slots with minimal delay. The system features real-time updates, automated slot reservations, and guided navigation, significantly enhancing efficiency. Evaluation based on ISO/IEC 25010 software quality standards yielded high ratings in functionality (3.30), usability (3.33), reliability (3.18), and efficiency (3.24), indicating strong system performance. The study concludes that integrating automated parking solutions with AI-driven optimization can significantly improve parking space utilization and reduce congestion. Future enhancements include expanding database capacity, upgrading image processing accuracy, and integrating IoT sensors for real-time monitoring, ensuring a more scalable and sustainable parking solution.

Large numbers of images collected through cost-effective modalities such as medical imaging, surveillance, and photography are now increasingly noisy; therefore, the need for efficient methods of image de-noising and manipulation has grown stronger. In this paper, an intelligent system based on deep learning models such as CNNs, autoencoders, and GANs is proposed for the purpose of improving image quality by removing noise as well as performing intelligent image transformation. The proposed framework aims to enhance image fidelity while facilitating optional user-defined parameters such as brightness, contrast, and rotation adjustment. With extensive experimentation on different datasets, the system can attain good performance in measures such as Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM). Finally, the study demonstrates that deep learning techniques can have substantial beneficial effects in improving the standard of excellence in intelligent picture processing and illustrates the capabilities of the developed processes in healthcare, security, and inventive works.

As one of the most important data sources in machine vision system, camera is facing increasingly strict requirements in video image acquisition, processing and transmission. Through the in-depth analysis of the development trend of the camera, it can be clear that its main pursuit of three goals: improve video image processing performance, reduce costs and enhance flexibility. However, most of the existing video processing platforms have problems such as low data processing efficiency and lack of real-time performance, which is difficult to meet the high performance requirements of modern cameras for video image processing. Because of its high real-time performance, powerful computing power, high integration and flexibility, embedded system has become a promising direction to realize advanced video image processing algorithms. With the embedded platform, the camera system can realize more efficient real-time data processing and higher quality video image output. In the current market, three high-performance embedded processors stand out, namely DSP, ASIC and FPGA. Among them, FPGA chip has become the ideal hardware platform for camera video image processing with its parallel computing capability, rich interface resources and field programmable characteristics. Based on Anlogic EG4S20 FPGA platform, this paper realizes image processing functions, including Bayer format to RGB conversion, gray world algorithm and perfect reflection algorithm. This research makes full use of the powerful computing power of FPGAs to demonstrate image processing and enhancement techniques to address key performance challenges in camera systems.

Automatic image quality Assessment (IQA) remains a difficult challenge due to the complexity of mimicking the Human Visual system (HVS) and the limitations of traditional objective image quality Metrics (IQM). Existing learnable methods often involve high computational costs and fail to adequately capture the nuanced perceptual characteristics of the HVS, including the human ability to rank image quality and human sensitivity to differences in areas with high-frequency. In this study, we propose an effective approach that addresses these challenges by incorporating the characteristics of HVS and the perceptual classification into a lightweight IQM framework based on the transformer architecture. This allows our method to capture long-range dependencies effectively. Our approach leverages Objective Error Maps (OEMs) to enhance sensitivity to visual errors and employs a ranking module as an objective function, providing feedback on the perceptual quality at the feature level. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach not only achieves competitive performance compared to state-of-the-art IQMs but also significantly reduces computational complexity.
