This paper addresses the problem of indoor scene reconstruction in compressed sensing through-the-wall radar imaging. The proposed method is motivated by two observations that wall reflections reside in a low-rank subspace and the imaged scene tends to be sparse. The task of mitigating the wall reflections and reconstructing an image of the scene behind-the-wall is cast as a joint low-rank and sparsity constrained optimization problem, where a low-rank matrix captures the wall returns and a sparse matrix represents the formed image. An iterative algorithm is developed to estimate the low-rank matrix and the sparse scene vector from a reduced measurement set. Experimental results using real radar data show that the proposed model is very effective at reconstructing the indoor image and removing wall clutter.

Sequential CT studies present an excellent opportunity to apply prior-image-based reconstruction (PIBR) methods that leverage high-fidelity prior imaging studies to improve image quality and/or reduce x-ray exposure in subsequent studies. One major obstacle in using PIBR is that the initial and subsequent studies are often performed on different scanners (e.g. diagnostic CT followed by CBCT for interventional guidance);this results in mismatch in attenuation values due to hardware and software differences. While improved artifact correction techniques can potentially mitigate such differences, the correction is often incomplete. Here, we present an alternate strategy where the PIBR itself is used to mitigate these differences. We define a new penalty for the previously introduced PIBR called reconstruction of Difference (RoD). RoD differs from many other PIBRs in that it reconstructs only changes in the anatomy (vs. reconstructing the current anatomy). Direct regularization of the difference image in RoD provides an opportunity to selectively penalize spatial frequencies of the difference image (e.g. low frequency differences associated with attenuation offsets and shading artifacts) without interfering with the variations in unchanged background image. We leverage this flexibility and introduce a novel regularization strategy using a generalized Fourier penalty within the RoD framework and develop the modified reconstruction algorithm. We evaluate the performance of the new approach in both simulation studies and in physical CBCT test-bench data. We find that generalized Fourier penalty can be highly effective in reducing low-frequency x-ray artifacts through selective suppression of spatial frequencies in the reconstructed difference image.

Block matching 3D collaborative filtering (BM3D) is one of the most popular denoising technique based on data sparsity concept applied to specially structured data. In this paper we develop this technique for complex domain, i.e. for application to complex-valued data. Sparsity as an approximation technique can be addressed directly to complex-valued variables or to real-valued pairs phase/amplitude and real/imaginary parts of complex-valued variables. As a result we arrive to various ways of development and obtain a set of quite different algorithms. The algorithms proposed in this paper are composed from two components: nonlocal patch-wise grouping and high-order singular value decomposition (HOSvD) for grouped data processing. The latter gives data adaptive complex-valued bases for complex-valued data or real-valued bases for joint processing of the pairs phase/amplitude, real/imaginary parts of complex-valued variables. Comparative study of the developed algorithms is produced in order to select the most efficient ones.

An innovative approach is presented to establish bidimensional (2D) linear-phase matrix quadrature filterbanks (MQF) directly from their matrix identities. It is well-known that two-channel quadrature filterbanks (QMF) have been successfully applied to signal and image processing. Bidimensional QMF filterbanks directly deduced from tensor-products of 1D QMF filterbanks is easy, straightforward, and convenient. They possess both the finite impulse response (FIR) and the perfect reconstruction (PR) properties, which are necessary for filter-banks' alias-free as well as magnitude and phase distortion-free characteristics. However, some additional desirable features are missing. These features include directional features, magnitude preservation, energy preservation, and energy compaction. Direct consideration from matrices yields more freedoms for the design of the new ingenuous MQF. A new MQF is designed and is applied to image compression. The rate-distortion performance shows that the proposed matrix wavelet has promising potential applications in image processing.

In the era of internet, internet is widely used by the individual for the communication and the information give and take process. Protecting our data from the unconstitutional processes and keeping the secret information secure and in safe hands, every individual utilizes the cryptography such as symmetric or asymmetric. But, these cryptographic processes needs much more cost for the execution. For that reason, lots of secret sharing schemes were proposed. Secret image distribution is the fine talent and skill concern with the protection of important color images by dividing the secret in multiple copies. The basic fundamental behind the scheme is to change the color image into some multiple unreadable format type shares so that they can not reveal the information inside the image until it is again combines with some mathematical computation. A Secret Sharing Scheme can be estimated by it's the four conditions which are Security, reconstruction Precision, Computation Complexity, Storage Requirement. In Most of the previous scheme there were issues related with security of image for the reconstruction means user can reveal secret from the hidden image, reconstructed of image quality i.e. contrast or accuracy;it means the reconstructed images were distress from the loss of info related to images and resultant image is different from the original image. images also suffered from pixel expansion issues for which data loss was occurring. In the present work CMY color model will be implemented with ((n-1), n) secret sharing scheme based on visual cryptography for the color image and compared and proved to be better that the RGB color model which is free from the issue of security, pixel expansion and accuracy issue as well. As the printer use the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black color for printing that's why CMY color model is implemented in this work to prove that CMY color space is better than RGB color space. The demand for rapid use of Internet has increased many folds in distributed environments. It is easy for the custodian of the digital data to transfer images of classification across computers via internet. The information transmitted is not secured. Conventional encryption and decryption algorithms are vulnerable from the thefts of the digital data and do not protect the data from copying after the data is transmitted. The data prone to copyright thefts should be protected against manipulation, misuse and security breaks. First the image is classified using maximum likelihood classification and fuzzy model. Second, for transmission, with copyright information, image is secured, by image bit depth plane digital image watermarking. In this method, image is read and separated into n-bit planes. The accuracy is tested using visual interpretation and assessment. The application of this method is identification of ownership, claim of ownership, online transaction, digital content authorization, file reconstruction. Photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT) is an emerging computed imaging modality that exploits optical contrast and ultrasonic detection principles to form images of the absorbed optical energy density within tissue. If the object possesses spatially variant acoustic properties that are unaccounted for by the reconstruction algorithm, the estimated image can contain distortions. While reconstruction algorithms have recently been developed for compensating for this effect, they generally require the object's acoustic properties to be known a priori. To circumvent the need for detailed information regarding an object's acoustic properties, we have previously proposed a half-time reconstruction method for PACT. A half-time reconstruction method estimates the PACT image from a data set that has been temporally truncated to exclude the data components that have been strongly aberrated. In this approach, the degree of temporal truncation is the same for all measurements. However, this strategy can be improved upon when the approximate sizes and locations of strongly heterogeneous structures, such as gas voids or bones, are known. In this work, we investigate PACT reconstruction algorithms that are based on a variable temporal data truncation (vTDT) approach that represents a generalization of the half-time reconstruction approach. In the vTDT approach, the degree of temporal truncation for each measurement is determined by the distance between the corresponding transducer location and the nearest known bone or gas void location. Computer simulation studies are employed to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the approach.

Cell segmentation and tracking allow us to extract a plethora of cell attributes from bacterial time-lapse cell movies, thus promoting computational modeling and simulation of biological processes down to the single-cell level. However, to analyze successfully complex cell movies, imaging multiple interacting bacterial clones as they grow and merge to generate overcrowded bacterial communities with thousands of cells in the field of view, segmentation results should be near perfect to warrant good tracking results. We introduce here a fully automated closed-loop bio-inspired computational strategy that exploits prior knowledge about the expected structure of a colony's lineage tree to locate and correct segmentation errors in analyzed movie frames. We show that this correction strategy is effective, resulting in improved cell tracking and consequently trustworthy deep colony lineage trees. Our image analysis approach has the unique capability to keep tracking cells even after clonal subpopulations merge in the movie. This enables the reconstruction of the complete Forest of Lineage Trees (FLT) representation of evolving multi-clonal bacterial communities. Moreover, the percentage of valid cell trajectories extracted from the image analysis almost doubles after segmentation correction. This plethora of trustworthy data extracted from a complex cell movie analysis enables single-cell analytics as a tool for addressing compelling questions for human health, such as understanding the role of single-cell stochasticity in antibiotics resistance without losing site of the inter-cellular interactions and microenvironment effects that may shape it.

The single-shot compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) camera is the fastest receive-only camera in the world. In this work, we introduce an external CCD camera and a space-and intensity-constrained (SIC) reconstruction algorithm to improve the image quality of CUP. The CCD camera takes a time-unsheared image of the dynamic scene. Unlike the previously used unconstrained algorithm, the proposed algorithm incorporates both spatial and intensity constraints, based on the additional prior information provided by the external CCD camera. First, a spatial mask is extracted from the time-unsheared image to define the zone of action. Second, an intensity threshold constraint is determined based on the similarity between the temporally projected image of the reconstructed datacube and the time-unsheared image taken by the external CCD. Both simulation and experimental studies showed that the SIC reconstruction improves the spatial resolution, contrast, and general quality of the reconstructed image.

During the last decade, the first generation of beam combiners at the very Large Telescope Interferometer has proved the importance of optical interferometry for high-angular resolution astrophysical studies in the nearand mid-infrared. With the advent of 4-beam combiners at the vLTI, the u - v coverage per pointing increases significantly, providing an opportunity to use reconstructed images as powerful scientific tools. Here, we present our ongoing studies to characterize the imaging capabilities of the Multi-AperTure mid-infrared SpectroScopic Experiment (MATISSE), a second-generation instrument for the very Large Telescope Interferometer (vLTI). By providing simultaneous observations with 6 baselines and spectral resolutions up to R similar to 5000. MATISSE will deliver, for the first time, thermal-IR interferometric data with enough u v coverage and phase information for imaging. In this work, we report detailed image reconstruction studies carried out with the image reconstruction package SQUEEZE. For our studies, we use realistic simulated MATISSE data from radiative transfer simulations of a proto-planetary disk. In particular, we will discuss the role of the regularization function and of the initial brightness distribution. MATISSE will perform observations at three different mid-infrared bands: L, M and N. Hence, due to its large bandwidth, chromatic effects should be taken into account when image reconstruction is attempted. We also discuss the capabilities of SQUEEZE to perform multi-wavelength image reconstruction. Finally, we perform an analysis of the image quality and present our future line of research. The work here presented is being carried out within the Opticon FP7-2 joint research activity on interferometric imaging.
