Customer demand and profit potential have pushed companies to offer diverse customization options in their products and move towards mass customization. To move towards mass customization reconfigurable manufacturingsystems (RMS) have been prosed as a solution. However, it comes with challenges, including labor, costs, time, and complexity. Introducing intelligence, smartness and state-of-the-art industry 4.0 technologies into reconfigurable manufacturingsystems (RMS) can be a solution to these chal- lenges. Combining these concepts can be used to develop an intelligent RMS that can be automatically reconfigured without any human intervention. In this paper, a novel architecture has been proposed that explains all the details from the idealization phase to design and physical implementation. The architecture covers individual elements of the RMS, introduces the technologies that enable intelligence and follows through the steps that add up to the complete functionality of the system. In addition, we propose an intelligent process that automates the reconfiguration phase of our proposal. Based on this architecture and intelligent recon- figuration, a physical demonstration is also presented that shows how the system can be implemented. The constructed system is demonstrated as an intelligent RMS capable of mass customization without human effort.

In order to improve the intelligence of modern hospital logistics transmission system, a medical track logistics control system based on digital twins was designed to improve the efficiency of logistics transmission and provide a supporting application platform for the track logistics system. Platform from mechanical structure, to hardware control system, and then to digital twin system, a full range of independent research and development;The proposed twin model construction method extends the application of digital twin technology in the field of intelligentmanufacturing. The manufacturing and assembly of small parallel mechanisms are often complex because of the required tolerances and high part count. The present work focuses on the use of additively manufactured compliant mechanisms to overcome some of these difficulties. As a reference, this work considers a recent work on a two degrees of freedom parallel orientational mechanism. Several aspects related to the design and manufacturing of this type of small-scale system are addressed by considering two implementations of the mechanism, one developed following a "traditional" approach with linkages and pin joints, and the other developed following a "flexible" approach using additively manufactured flexures. The two versions of the mechanism are finally compared to provide qualitative and quantitative indications of their motion precision and capacity to withstand loads.

The human-centered view emphasizes various aspects including usability, acceptance, and understandability, as they emerge in the interaction between humans and intelligentsystems. For intelligent assistance systems to provide long- term added value in working environments, it is of major importance to develop a positive user experience. However, a positive user experience does not appear by itself but must be systematically investigated and designed. In this paper, we focus on the role of operator 5.0 in manufacturing and provide an overview of the main challenges and potentials related to working with intelligentsystems. Drawing upon state-of-the-art literature and findings from industry (context and expert interviews and user experience workshops), this paper investigates the main discontinuous production processes (i.e., process monitoring, process optimization, process maintenance) that will undergo a series of changes due to integration of cutting-edge technologies (such as Digital Twins, Extended Reality, and Artificial Intelligence). It then identifies requirements and discusses key challenges for the realization of human-centered assistance systems. This paper presents the development of a collaborative assembly station with the focus on feasibility evaluation and reconfigurability of the layout. This application is based on a case study brought by a manufacturing company, investigated and tested at the i-Labs Industry laboratory. AI-based intelligent decision support systems could enhance individuals' ability to handle emergencies, yet the impact of stressors arising from emergencies on human-AI trust remains inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the impact of two stressors, time pressure and social pressure, on trust in intelligent Decision Support systems, taking into account the role of system reliability. The experimental task used the TNO trust task. Our findings indicated that neither time pressure nor social pressure significantly impacted individuals' trust in intelligent Decision Support systems, whether assessed subjectively or behaviorally. This finding was inconsistent with our hypothesis, and we discussed potential reasons for this unexpected result.

With the rapid development of intelligent car technology, cars are no longer just means of transportation, but have become complex human-computer interaction systems. Therefore, user experience has become one of the key indicators for evaluating the performance of modern intelligent cars. This study explores three scenario-based intelligent car user experience evaluation methods, namely specification-centered evaluation method, journey-centered evaluation method, and demand-centered evaluation method, aiming to reflect the user experience level of intelligent cars comprehensively and accurately. This study compared and analyzed these three evaluation methods through user surveys and real vehicle tests, proving the superiority of the demand-centered evaluation method in terms of framework, content, results, and application. This method can effectively reflect the level of intelligent car user experience by evaluating the degree of satisfaction of user demands. This research provides an important reference for the design and definition of intelligent cars.

The automated wiring of prefabricated wires, which is a mayor process step in the manufacturing, is not automated yet. Besides different sensor technologies, a reliable tool for assembly must be developed. This article discusses the challenges and criteria for the development of such a tool. The most important functions of the tool include the handling of wires with different lengths, cross-sections, and colors as well as the consideration of close mounting positions. Based on a morphological box, a tool concept is derived and validated via tests on a demonstrator.
