Nowadays, Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) are effectively used in a wide range of application areas such as environmental monitoring, home automation, control of agricultural production processes, health monitoring systems, military surveillance, industrial automation systems, smart grids and smart cities. However, there is a need to develop efficient solutions to the problems encountered in WSN applications such as low latency, low energy consumption, real-time operation, high performance, reliability, minimum packet loss, and reliable *** IETF 6TiSCH protocol stack is defined as an extension of the IPv6 internet protocol to support efficient, secure and scalable low power wireless sensor networks for industrial applications. The 6TiSCH protocol has a time-slotted/channel-hopping mechanism with dynamic resource requirements. However, these resources need to be reorganized in case of frequent routing path changes in the network. This leads to extra energy consumption due to additional computational overhead and higher communication cost. The routing layer of 6TiSCH networks uses the RPL. RPL protocol makes routing decisions based on objective *** this paper, a new solution to the problem of frequent routing path changes of nodes is presented by optimizing the RPL objective function inspired by the Q-Learning algorithm. With the developed method, real-time application problems such as high end-to-end packet transmission delay and high packet losses in the buffer, which are encountered in routing processes, are also improved. The proposed algorithm, a more stable network structure is provided by utilising the previous states and critical metrics in the WSNs and the reliability of the network are increased. Considering the PDR metric, the proposed method performs 33.6% better than the standard MRHOF and 11.2% better than the OF-SR1 algorithm when Rx is 60% in a network of 20 nodes. The fluctuating wind speed affects the power output of WECS (Wind Energy Conversion systems), which might lead to problems with power quality when it is integrated into the grid network. Numerous difficulties have emerged as a result of the tremendous proliferation of interconnected power systems. These include oscillations, power swings, blackouts, and outages caused by natural disasters, and system flaws at transmission lines, load centers, and generation sites. This can lead to power system instability, which makes it difficult to plan for and schedule maintenance. FACTS (flexible alternating current transmission system) contribute to the enhancement of transient stability as well as the damping of oscillations, in addition to the control of active and reactive power. It must, however, be placed in a specific power network, be appropriately sized, and use the best FACTS device. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of integrating FACTS into the 153 MW Adama ii wind farm with the national grid of Ethiopia. The proposed wind farm is modeled using primary data while the grid side is represented by an IEEE 14-bus test system. Using the MATLAB/PSAT software tool, the ideal type of FACTS and their corresponding locations are determined by simulating the power flow in the combined WECS-IEEE 14 bus network. The IPFC (interline power flow controller) and UPFC (unified power flow controller) are added, together with the system response without FACTS, to compare performance. These devices’ effects on improving transient stability, reducing loss, damping power system oscillation, and supporting the voltage profile from the WECS to the distribution system have all been studied including under fault scenarios. The addition of IPFC and UPFC to the overall test systems significantly improves transient stability, dampens the multi-machine oscillations, and shortens the oscillation transient period. There is an increasing demand for capturing reliable data from IoT network devices. Due to the limited capabilities of such devices to process and store sensitive data and the range and performance of the communication link, it is a significant challenge to develop a secure solution for symmetric key distribution. This paper presents a secure data exchange protocol for a cryptographic key generation, renewal, and distribution (KGR) system. The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) supports the trust establishment, key generation, all cryptographic procedures of the KGR system and secure data exchange in the described protocol. The protocol uses the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) service, which IoT devices widely use.

In grape cultivation, precise irrigation control systems can improve the yield and taste of grapes and enhance the efficiency of water use. A drip irrigation control system, based on LoRa remote wireless technology, and a dynamic neural network, is designed in this paper. Lora remote wireless communication terminal, which can connect sensors or control devices, such as soil temperature, digital flowmeter, and so on, at the same time, can be remote control such as pumps, water valves, and other equipment operation. A prediction model was established using the Long Short-Term Memory network (LSTM) which is a class of the Recurrent Neural network (RNN). The trained model uses past soil moisture, precipitation and climate measurements to predict the moisture content of vineyard soils based on a pre-set amount of time, thereby calculating the amount of irrigation and determining the timing of irrigation. According to the training results of the model, the root mean square error (RMSE) is 0.116 similar to 0.171, the range of R-2 is 0.941 similar to 0.986, and the range of mean absolute error (MAE) is 0.071 similar to 0.081. For predicting water content at different soil depths, R-2>0.9 shows good model performance and prediction effect. The system has good working stability, high prediction accuracy, and slight deviation. The planter can apply it to the irrigation of large, medium, and small-scale grape plantations in the actual planting environment. Compared with the traditional irrigation control system, advanced irrigation methods can be realized, improving the irrigation rate and saving irrigation water.

The Software-Defined networking (SDN) paradigm relies on decoupling the control and data planes, and logically centralizing SDN control to enable direct network programming via open interfaces. New abstractions are thus needed in a bid to rethink the traditional networking approach and create new opportunities for management and automation. We demonstrate the GOX controller, proposing a novel graph abstraction of the network topology in real time using the scalable Neo4j graph database. Our proof-of-concept was evaluated for a forwarding application designed for GOX. Compared to POX's model, GOX shows better performance and scalability on synthetic topologies and real-world topologies from the internet Topology Zoo.

With the continuous expansion of intelligent sensor systems, efficient wireless communication technologies have become increasingly important. This paper presents a concise comparative study between Radio Frequency (RF) communication and Wireless Optical Communication (WoC) using Visible Light Communication (VLC) for Wireless Sensor network (WSN) and internet of Things (IoT) applications. This study evaluated various performance metrics, such as effective energy utilization, throughput, energy efficiency, link distance, SNR, BER, total attenuation, and received power under varying visibility conditions. Simulation results and theoretical analysis, conducted using MATLAB, demonstrate that WOC outperforms RF communication in most of the analyzed performance metrics. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing wireless communication systems for intelligent sensor applications. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Traffic signal control is the most basic and pivotal task in road traffic problems. The optimization of traffic signal control is for improving vehicle passing efficiency of each intersection in order to improve the traffic capacity of the whole road net. Currently, traditional traffic control methods are not able to satisfy the needs of continuously expanding traffic conditions. Thus, with ideal self-adapting and exploring abilities, deep reinforcement learning methods are widely applied in model traffic signal control. However, due to the problems of overestimation and instability during the learning process of Deep Q-learning (DQN), we came up with a model based on Double-Dueling-Deep Q network (3DQN). This model combines dueling network, double learning method and target network by natural DQN to relieve overestimation and improve data using efficiency. According to the experimental results, compared with traditional traffic control and DQN, the model of 3DQN has better outcomes in traffic signal control. © 2021 IEEE.

Protocols have an important role on the overall performance of Wireless Sensor networks, including throughput and power consumption, postponement and transmission rate. This research study has a portion of suggested computations that focus on network performance concerns in the proposed sensor network. The directing convention monitors the energy and draws out the steadiness time of organization as well as organization life time. As a result of this convention, sensor nodes will no longer establish pairs with one another and share information about what is being detected. Additionally, the Cluster Head selection technique has been improved and CHs are selected based on the remaining power of the sensor nodes. The reenactment has been done on MATLAB for assessing the exhibition of these conventions on various boundaries thinking about two situations. In all scenarios, the suggested convention outperforms alternative steering conventions, according to the findings of the simulations. © 2022 IEEE.

Motivated by the emerging delay-sensitive applications of the internet of Things (IoT), there has been a resurgence of interest in developing medium access control (MAC) protocols in a time-slotted framework. The resource-constrained, ad-hoc nature of wireless networks typical of the IoT also forces the amount of control information exchanged across the network required to make scheduling decisions - to a minimum. In a previous article we proposed a protocol called QZMAC that (i) provides provably low mean delay, (ii) has distributed control(i.e., there is no central scheduler), and (iii) does not require explicit exchange of state information or control signals. In the present article, we implement and demonstrate the performance of QZMAC on a test bed consisting of CC2420 based Crossbow telosB motes, running the 6TiSCH communication stack on the Contiki operating system over the 2.4GHz ISM band. QZMAC achieves its near-optimal delay performance using a clever combination of polling and contention modes. We demonstrate the polling and the contention modes of QZMAC separately. We use an Adaptive Synchronization Technique in our implementation which we also demonstrate. Our network shows good delay performance even in the presence of heavy interference from ambient WiFi networks.

In this paper, we propose different strategies to efficiently deploy RSUs in a city with the ultimate goal of having an 802.11p-based infrastructure to deliver internet services. Unlike most existing works, (i) our strategies' only prior information is the average density of vehicles in the studied area, and (ii) they rely on the forecast of a performance model of 802.11p to assist and guide their choices regarding the location of RSUs. With the help of two simulators, namely SUMO and ns-3, we investigate the behavior of each strategy in three scenarios inspired by the street map of real-life major cities. Our findings are twofold: (i) we demonstrate that any efficient RSUs deployment is tightly tied to the specifics of the considered city (namely, the arrangement of streets and the spatial density of vehicles);(ii) the best strategy is not to position RSUs where the traffic density is at its highest, nor at the street junctions where the traffic density is often at its highest but instead where they will be able to deliver the target QoS to a maximum number of vehicles.
