With the rapid development of the current wireless communication and the internet, the number of mobile devices access is increasing day by day, people adapt to the mobile internet life, but also put forward higher requirements for the transmission quality and transmission rate of the wireless communication system. This paper aims to study the delay and traffic distribution of computer communication networks based on neural network technologies. This paper combines the network distribution technology and the load balancing technology to introduce the network traffic distribution mechanism in heterogeneous networks. A traffic allocation (NDBFA) algorithm based on network comprehensive delay is proposed. By analyzing the difference of the average delay variation in the heterogeneous network, correcting the shortcomings of the link delay traffic distribution algorithm, the simulation to verify that NDBFA can balance the business distribution in each network, especially in the heterogeneous network network services reach saturation throughput, the distribution algorithm has good distribution performance. A traffic allocation (LBFA) algorithm based on network load condition is proposed. This paper compares the packet delay performance and proves that the neural network prediction can effectively improve the network performance, reduce the delay of high priority services, and ensure the network quality of service.

When software defined network (SDN) is used to deploy the industrial control network, the deployment schemes are different in actual according to the different industrial production business, environment and capital cost. In this paper, we use the in-band management mode to deploy the SDN network in an industrial environment. We design four deployment schemes of the in-band management mode for the industrial SDN network according to the specific requirements of industrial environment and propose an algorithm for controller location selection in the in-band management network For the four schemes and the algorithm, we use the controller and switches to build a simulation environment according to different schemes and compare the performance between the in-band management and out-of-band management, which shows that the in-band management mode can set up a normal SDN industrial network with applicable network scale and throughput. © 2022 IEEE.

Soft-Handover or connected-before- break is a procedure where the user equipment (UE) is always connected to the radio link with no need for synchronization with adjacent cells. Therefore, the user equipment (UE) is connected softly with more than one NodeB at the same time. Due to many reasons such as orthogonality in long-term evolution (LTE), which is based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), soft-handover is not supported by fourth-generation (4G) systems. On the other hand, 5G systems can support seamless soft- handover between the original cell and neighboring cells. To guarantee a seamless handover in 5G systems with an acceptable quality of service (QoS) for end-users, an intelligent call admission control (CACA) algorithm should be provided. Therefore, a new multicell CACA is 5G systems is presented in this paper. The presented CACA is taken into consideration the "cell breathing" phenomena that cause the overloaded cell coverage to shrink. The admission of the user is based on a minimum bit rate to be achieved, a maximum distance from the base station, and a maximum number of active users in the cell. Considering different interference factor values, the presented numerical results reveal the effectiveness of the suggested CACA in balancing the load over the whole network by transferring the traffic from overloaded cells to the neighboring cells with less load, and hence, the overall network performance is improved. To validate the effectiveness of the CACA, some comparative results are shown with and without applying the proposed CACA.

Conventional quality of Service(QoS) measurements are incapable to meet the demand for analysing communication performance on timeliness of information in Industrial control networks with many connected subsystems. The Age of Information (AoI) and the Age of Actuation (AoA) give a promise to be a solution. Many recent research articles cover theoretical aspects and analyse performance characteristics of communication systems in terms of AoI, but practical realisation in industry has not been achieved yet. As a new companion metric to AoI, AoA is evaluated in a real test-bed for the first time in this paper. All analysis is based on measurement in an Edge-control System implemented as our test-bed. To validate the usefulness of these metrics in the system performance tests on edge-cloud integration, the test-bed separated to field network and edge-to-field network scenarios, where the edge server is located in a 5G base-station. This article also describes how such measurements can be carried out. Practical issues such as time synchronizations between connected devices and how to calculate AoI and AoA based on measurements are handled.

In the context of satellite communication, unique challenges arise, such as long delay links that can impact the network performance also at the Transport Layer. With regard to the Transmission control Protocol (TCP), congestion control plays a crucial role in managing network traffic and ensuring efficient data transmission over the internet. This paper wants to give an overview of how TCP congestion control mechanisms adapt to mitigate the effects of long link delays, highlighting the importance of optimizing protocols for these specific environments. Within this context, where signals travel extended distances, traditional TCP algorithms designed for terrestrial networks with relatively low latency, may struggle to maintain optimal performance. As a result, specialized congestion control algorithms, like TCP CUBIC, can be employed to address these challenges. Through the integration of TCP CUBIC with HyStart within a simulation framework based on OMNeT++ and INET, this study sheds light on the importance of tailoring congestion control strategies to suit specific network environments including satellite communication.

Industrial control systems (ICS) have specific data requirements in terms of quality of Service (QoS). Lost or delayed critical data, such as control signals, can damage widespread production, such as machine performance. The problem is compounded in the next-generation Industry 4.0, where the operations will be even less human-dependent, involving multiple organizations. Moreover, the communication aspects across multistakeholders require a disaggregated approach contrary to the current closed ICS *** paper presents a framework for decentralization of ICS called Operations and control networks (OCN) in which ‘contracts’ are the basic units of abstraction to exchange information with trust and precision between different actors. In the lower layers, High-Precision Communication (HPC) contracts execute control functions with requested service level guarantees in the network. A high-level trusted delegation of tasks is executed as smart contracts using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to enable multi-stakeholder auditability and accountability.

In modern networks, the increasing complexity and dynamic traffic patterns pose significant challenges to maintaining optimal performance and detecting traffic anomalies that can degrade network performance and lead to violations of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This paper presents a traffic prediction model designed to prevent congestion in Software-Defined networks (SDN) as part of the assurance operations within an Intent-Based networking (IBN) framework. The proposed model leverages real-time network data and machine learning techniques to forecast traffic patterns, enabling proactive congestion management and resource optimization. By predicting potential bottlenecks, the model facilitates dynamic adjustments through load balancing to ensure consistent quality of Service (QoS) and adherence to network intents. Integrated into the IBN framework, the model enhances both network reliability and user satisfaction.

Cyber-physical systems (CPS) have become increasingly important in the functioning of our society. In recent years, machine learning (ML) approaches have started to become an attractive choice to design CPS controllers for better performance and adaptability. Assuring the correctness of this type of controller is extremely difficulty and remains a grand research challenge. Stability is a critical correctness property of any CPS. Designing stable conventional controllers for linear system dynamics is well-understood based on the control theory from the past half century. Designing stable deep neural net (DNN) controllers for linear system dynamics is new while designing stable DNN controllers for non-linear system dynamics is a major research challenge. Although demonstrating the stability of a controller using simulation is a widely accepted practice, this approach does not provide required assurance for CPS involved in safety and mission-critical applications. A provable stability region of attraction (RoA) provides a strong assurance guarantee. In this paper, we have developed an approach to build and verify stable DNN controllers for nonlinear systems, which includes using deep reinforcement learning to design and train a DNN controller based on nonlinear system dynamics, approximating the non-linear system dynamics with several well-known linearization techniques, and leveraging a recent method in deriving the RoA on linearized system dynamics. We have applied this approach to one well-known benchmark system with non-linear dynamics and have obtained their approximated stability RoAs based on several linearization techniques. © 2023 IEEE.

Identity resolution is an emerging network resource widely applied in Industrial internet of Things. Although encryption improves the privacy of identity resolution, it also challenges DPI-based anomaly detection. Therefore, it is imperative to recognize and supplement the encrypted information of IDS. In this paper, we design a machine learning-based framework to automatically extract critical information of identity resolution system from network traffic. According to the characteristics of traffic, we use the hybrid feature of statistics and sequences to describe encrypted traffic. Besides, a supervised classification algorithm is applied to explore the effective classification of two communication processes, which are service attribution information for node addressing and operation behavior for data management. We tested this method based on the encrypted traffic collected from a realistic identity resolution system. The results indicate that our approach exhibits good performance, outperforms related works, and can be applied in resourceconstrained industrial scenario. This is the first work analysing the identity resolution system from the perspective of traffic analysis.

Urbanization, driven by technological advancements, has brought about improved connectivity and efficiency, especially with the rise of internet of Things (IoT) devices. Smart cities use these innovations to manage resources better and enhance resident's quality of life. However, implementing smart city initiatives comes with challenges like monitoring, maintaining, and testing urban infrastructure. Digital Twin (DT) entails the connection of physical facilities or devices with their digital counterparts, facilitating real-time monitoring, manipulation, and predictive analysis of their behavior. This concept offers a virtual replica of assets, processes, and systems, enabling insights into their real-time performance and predictive behaviors. By simulating real-world scenarios, DT aids in planning maintenance activities and conducting comprehensive testing, thereby enhancing the resilience and efficiency of smart city systems. Particularly in the context of managing water networks, DT technology holds significant promise. Visualization capabilities provide intuitive insights into the system's behavior, facilitating informed decision-making. This visualization, coupled with actuation capabilities, enables control actions based on predictive analytics and optimization algorithms, allowing for proactive management of water resources and infrastructure. To this end, in this paper, we present the architecture of WaterTwin, a DT developed for water quality networks in smart city systems. We demonstrate our approach through the use of a water quality network at the smart city living lab, IIIT Hyderabad campus.
