With the widespread use of internet of things(IoT), a large amount of data will be generated in the edge of network, which can facilitate a significant transformation in edge intelligent services by integrating with edge computing, 5G and artificial intelligence. However, since the intelligent edge services seriously rely on big data and computing resource, it challenges the traditional centralized data processing model. Data sharing is a promising way to tackle this problem, but some critical technical challenges still remain, such as fragile data privacy protection, inefficient data exchange and low quality of data fusion. To address these problems, a privacy-enhanced and intelligence-preserved data sharing system, name VFLChain, is proposed in this article. The proposed VFLChain is designed based on consortium blockchain and vertical federated learning, which can ensure trustworthy and secure data sharing without relying on any center platforms or third parties. Furthermore, a blockchain-assisted decentralized vertical federated learning is presented to adapt to the decentralized system and support privacy-preserved, intelligent and efficient edge data sharing, while improving quality of data through learning with different characteristic data samples. Then, a data sharing processing workflow in VFLChain is also described to demonstrated details of data sharing. The simulation experiments confirm that the proposed system and mechanism have good accuracy and stability, and guarantee an effective data sharing. © 2022 IEEE.

The efficient transmission of haptic, audio, and video (HAV) data in the Tactile internet (TI) is the bases for successful tele-operation services over long-rage area networks. The IEEE P1918.1.1 Working Group is going to standardize the encoding of haptic data in such networks. This study presents a first implementation of the haptic encoder that is in compliance with the future IEEE 1918.1.1 standard for non-delay transmissions. The encoder's details are outlined and the haptic encoding performance is discussed. In a basic leader-follower system configuration, a significant encoding gain at 44 % was observed when haptic devices are idle. Hence, a haptic tele-operation system can be realized with superior efficiency when haptic devices are in idle state, so that data traffic is optimized while reducing operational network costs.

The development of 6G communication has made low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks to be a critical component of global communication systems. The high density of LEO satellites enables mobile devices to have continuous communication. However, managing satellites in mega-constellation LEO satellite networks poses a scalability challenge due to the large number of LEO satellite nodes. Besides, due to the high mobility of LEO satellites, inter-satellite handover frequently occurs, which leads to the degradation of traffic QoS (quality of Service). To address these issues, in this paper, we propose a novel virtual node-based multi-controller management architecture for LEO-satellite constellation networks, that can effectively shield the dynamics of satellite network topology. In specific, we first redefine the virtual node as a geographical area with clear boundaries. Then, we set up domain controllers in each virtual node to manage the satellites. Besides, we propose a handover algorithm to reduce delay jitter and delay by jointly considering the probability of handover and the cost of rerouting. We conduct simulations on Starlink Phase I and the results show that compared with benchmark algorithms, the proposed architecture can reduce the delay jitter by more than 50% and the delay by 10%. © 2023 IEEE.

The effectiveness multiservice telecommunication networks based on the architectural concept of the next NGN (Next Generation network) and future FN (Future network) networks is analyzed using modern technologies in processing signals of useful and service messages. This work is devoted to the study issues ensuring the effective functioning signal processing systems through the use procedures for managing channel and network resources in communication networks. These procedures include the operations generation and processing signals useful and service traffic flows, formation of a plan for the distribution and management of system resources for the provision multimedia services and applications. As a result of the study processing systems for useful and service messages, a new approach to the construction of a mathematical model is proposed that describes the efficiency managing network and channel resources in multiservice telecommunication networks, taking into account numerous parameter requirements. On the basis of the model, analytical expressions are obtained that make it possible to evaluate the performance indicators of the signal processing systems of useful and service messages for traffic flow control. The proposed mathematical model can be used to solve a wide range practical problems, including managing multiservice traffic during its processing and transmission in future generation networks, taking into account quality of service classes. Taking into account the above, the statement of the problem is investigated, and approaches to its solution are proposed. © 2022 IEEE.

As voice- and video-based services that require low latency become increasingly essential, a tremendous research effort has been devoted to improving the latency performance of networks. However, there remains a "latency divide" between those whose internet access is subject to high latency and those with low-latency access. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the aforementioned research efforts narrow this divide (by improving the latency performance of poor-quality connections the most), maintain the divide (by improving poor- and high-quality connections equally), or even widen the divide (by mostly reducing latency of high-quality network connections). In this work, we design a reproducible experiment for evaluating the performance of Copa, a delay-based congestion control protocol, in different categories of residential broadband connections. We use empirical data from U.S. home network connections to evaluate whether Copa leads to more equitable network access. We confirm that Copa has potential to narrow the "digital divide" by improving latency performance for users with a low-quality residential broadband connection, although care must be taken to set appropriate parameters for best performance.

Industry 4.0 integrates advanced technologies like the Industrial internet of Things and AI-driven automation, with private 5G networks playing a crucial role by providing high-speed, low-latency connectivity for industrial applications. These networks support real-time video transmission, which is vital for use cases requiring immediate responses. However, network congestion can still impact performance. The Low Latency, Low Loss, and Scalable Throughput (L4S) architecture helps mitigate these issues through scalable congestion control and optimized resource allocation. This paper proposes a software-based private 5G testbed to assess L4S’s impact on video transmission quality. The results show that L4S significantly reduces packet loss (up to tenfold in some scenarios) and improves video quality by up to 3.16x, even under heavy background traffic.

As Delay Tolerant networking (DTN) matures as a software product its use cases have extended to infrastructural and architectural studies, bringing DTN closer to a widespread, operational technology. While it is known that a DTN can be configured, given complete information about a system of nodes, to provision a system with a complete network capability, what remains is to tackle practical considerations such as scalability, networking best practices, and how to establish service providers. In this paper, we document progress towards a scalable DTN architecture that was tested across multiple organizational and project boundaries;our approach was tested across nodes flying on the International Space Station (ISS) connected to a ground network. The network consists of four main network areas: the ISS, the White Sands Complex (WSC), the Mission Cloud Platform (MCP), and NASA’s Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC). The connections on the ground (WSC, MCP, and HOSC) are straightforward technically, but represent administrative and non-technical challenges that had to be overcome. The connection from the ISS to WSC was realized through a hybrid optical/RF means. In particular, NASA’s Integrated Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) can form a relay from low-Earth-orbit (LEO) to the Earth, and was used in conjunction with the LCRD LEO User Modem and Amplifier Terminal (ILLUMA-T) on the ISS to form a link to one of three geographically diverse ground stations. A major goal was to achieve communications while keeping the ISS nodes unaware of ground station choices and scheduling. These disparate links were networked using High-rate DTN (HDTN), which enabled the desired architecture. The network architecture, tests, HDTN performance metrics, and general observations made are all discussed in detail, including a discussion on the successful utilization of the DTN security standard known as DTN Bundle Protocol Security (BPSec). This research paper presents a detailed study on the optimal placement of a Distribution Static Compensator (D-STATCOM) in a 14-bus power system. The objective of the study is to identify the optimal location for the D-STATCOM that can compensate the reactive power in the system. The paper proposes a methodology that utilizes load flow analysis and deduction of maximum voltage and current harmonics to identify the optimal location of the D-STATCOM. Newton Raphson method is used for load flow analysis. The load flow analysis is used to determine the voltage and power flow conditions in the system. D-STATCOM control is achieved by direct quadrature zero method. The proposed methodology is validated through extensive simulations on the 14-bus power system. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methodology can identify the optimal location for the D-STATCOM that compensates the reactive power in the system. The study provides valuable insights into the optimal placement of D-STATCOM in power systems, which can help power system operators and planners in enhancing the overall system performance and reliability. © 2023 IEEE.

An intelligent operation and maintenance system of power communication network based on the internet of Things is established. The mobile operation management system of the internet of Things is used to accurately collect, process and configure the mobile communication data of electric energy. The power intelligent communication operation management system and the internet of Things data configuration processing platform are organically combined to achieve the improvement and optimization of the power communication mobile intelligent system. A new algorithm using Bayesian algorithm to detect suspicious faults in power networks; Then, using the data obtained from the integrated RRPMS, the alarm of the communication network management system, and the scheduling integrated operation management OBS, the effective control of the accident is realized. The test shows that the mobile phone network operation and maintenance system designed in this project can meet the actual demand, and its working reliability is greater than 80%. Compared with the conventional method, its performance is improved by 20% to 30% to achieve the purpose of standardization and intelligence. The system improves grid operational efficiency.

In this paper, a new control concept for automatic track guidance of forklifts within a heterogeneous logistics fleet is presented. The proposed control scheme is universally applicable and based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The lateral control is realized using a Model Predictive controller (MPC). In order to take into account the diversity of the industrial truck variants, a multi-model approach is used. Therefore, a plant model for each truck variant is integrated into the MPC. In a practical application, the most suitable model has to be selected. This decision is based on AI in the form of an Artificial Neural network (ANN). It is able to distinguish the different truck variants based on that part of the plant's state vector, which represents the vehicle dynamic characteristics. Thus, the appropriate model can be used, which significantly improves the control quality and guarantees an accurate track guidance of different forklifts. Due to the AI-based selection of the model, the computational effort can be kept low and real-time capability can be ensured. In order to classify the performance of the proposed control concept, its simulation results are compared to the closed-loop behavior, using a classical MPC. © 2023 IEEE.
